I didn't realize how many options I would have in replacing my fireplace doors but they everything seem simple and easy. The only thing that may be an hiccup for some is that they only install on Monday's. So I had to make sure I was home from work the day of installation.

They were extremely neat, I mean neater than any contractor I have experienced. I was informed every step of the way with any surprised my old house presented. The new fireplace was installed professionally and the stone was cut and installed wonderfully. After the job was complete I have hired him to do two addition jobs for me and both also came out perfect.

Robert was very responsive, pleasant and easy to get a hold of throughout the entire process. He showed up on time for our free estimate and took the time to explain everything to us. He quickly followed up with a very detailed proposal of what work needs to be done and all the options we had. Robert and his team installed a stainless steel lining system to replace the damaged clay inside the chimney. They replaced all the piping from the boiler. Grinded out all the mortar joints and put new mortar in. Installed a new crown and waterproofed the chimney. They cleaned up everything and did not leave any garbage or debris behind. I highly recommend Quality Fireplace and Chimney LLC for any fireplace or chimney work that needs to be done.

A and J Fireplaces
Visited the store and spoke with John. We were impressed by his knowledge and recommendations. Signed contract on 11/14/2012 with a deposit of $2,000. Work was supposed to be completed within 2-3 weeks. The work did not start until mid January, and was not completed until late Feb. During the entire process, the company did not return most of our phone calls requesting updates with regards to when they would start, and the progress of the work once started. We needed to call them almost daily. The basic installation did eventually pass all inspections, and the fire place does work. The finish related work was done poorly. We will need to replace our crown and base molding and repaint adjacent ceiling and walls due to damage caused during the installation of the fireplace. Molding around the mantel was damaged due to incorrect use of the nail gun. Spackle was very sloppy and rough considering the contract called for 2 coats. Silicone caulking was used on surfaces that needed to painted. When we pointed these items out to John, he would not acknowledge these as defects. We gave up on trying to get the company to remedy and will be hiring someone else to finish the job.

American Chimney Service
We had a very good experience, but there was an issue with how the listing was written. We paid $1,999 to replace a up to a two story chimney liner, but it was not clear anywhere in the listing that the deal was only for a furnace liner, not a fireplace liner. The guys were professional and did a great job. We ultimately hired them to reline both the furnace and the fireplace. As they were leaving, my husband noticed that the chimney brick on the roof wasn't repointed, and they came back and did it before they left.

Working with Arthur was a great experience! My wife and I had some big projects that we needed to get done to our home, and we couldn’t thank Arthur and his crew enough for the assistance and work they provided in making our goals a reality that we are truly happy with! We had a smaller, outdated bathroom that we completely gutted and remodeled, updating all fixtures and installing new tile throughout, which came out beautifully (we get lots of compliments on it!) We also had two load bearing walls removed (first floor), one was to make two adjoining rooms into one larger one and the other was to remove a wall/pantry that was separating the kitchen with the formal dining room. What a difference! The first floor flows much more freely and has great natural light throughout the day now, makes the house feel much more open and inviting. We also had hardwood flooring installed throughout (upstairs and downstairs, approx 2500sf), had trim installed around all downstairs windows and ones in the foyer, a new sliding patio door installed (He will also be installing a new front door for us, custom ordered), and new stonework and mantle for our fireplace. Arthur is great to work with, easy going, no pressure, has great attention for details, and always has good suggestions/ideas for whatever you need to get done. Also has a great sense of humor! He and his crew (especially Brian) are great guys, and Arthur had a great group of subcontractors and suppliers that he works with on a regular basis, which makes projects go much smoother. He and his crew also work cleanly (as much as possible) and organized, which was really appreciated during a lengthy project. We highly recommend Arthur, and we will definitely be calling on his services again (we have two more bathrooms that we are going to completely remodel also). Give him a call for a consultation on whatever you need done, you won’t be disappointed!

Over the past couple years, I have hired Valentine Electric to do a number of jobs at my home including all electrical in refurbishing a couple bathrooms and fire place insert line. Mr. Valentine is punctual and his staff are professional and neat. His estimates are accurate and I have not experienced any surprises with this company. When the men installing the fireplace insert were concerned about the outlet Valentine installed, Mr. Valentine himself came out within an hour to discuss with the fireplace installers. Bottom line, the fireplace insert was installed timely due to Mr. Valentine's responsiveness.

Irish Sweeps was excellent. We had moved into a house we purchased over the summer and wanted to make sure our chimney was working properly. Matt inspected and swept our chimney, cleaned out the fireplace, and replaced our broken damper. He showed us that our chimney liner had fallen apart and explained why we should have a new one installed. The office offered us a fair price in my opinion (though I did not shop around). The installation occurred a few weeks later. I was not home but my wife was. She told me that the crew that came were excellent. They explained what they were going to do, did it, and then showed her what they had done. They also cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely use them again and recommend them.

I first called the company for the estimate for a mechanical cleaning. Douglas came and told me that I need a new liner and that the cleaning will not do. I have then gotten estimates from 3 more providers. One of them offered to do the cleaning and then see if I need a fix or not. I decided to go with this option. When they cleaning was done, the firm did say that I need a new liner (over $4,500 including existing clay tile removal, which may not have been needed) or a fix (HeatShield $1,950). I talked to my contractor who recommended the steel liner as a more permanent solution. I gotten a few more estimates where the new steel liner estimates ranged from $1,800 to $3,800 plus (without existing tile removal). Given that Douglas was right in the first place about my needs and given the Angie's list reputation for this company, I decided to go with American Chimney Service even though it was not the cheapest quote. I asked Doug if the estimate included clay tile removal if that was necessary and he said yes if necessary. Another provider I talked to confirmed that it is not always necessary. The job was scheduled the next day, the crew arrived promptly and did the job over 4 hour period. They were professional and hard working. They performed the work they outlined in the estimate and also replaced the chimney cap for the heater flue, which was not part of the contact. The initial estimate also included further insulation of the fireplace box with non-combustable materials, which would've cost me a lot more money. I have checked the fire code NFPA-211 regulation, per Doug's reference, online and was able to see that this was not necessary in my case, although it is necessary in many other cases. Doug has agreed with me. I believe it was an honest mistake and not an attempt to overcharge. I would hire the company again.

Recent Review: I had used Robinson's Painting two years ago to paint the exterior of my house and was delighted with the work that was performed. I subsequently rated the company A on Angie's List. As I expected, Robinson did an equally outstanding job on extensive renovations to the interior of my home that recently completed after many months of work. This was a large and expensive project and I could not be more delighted with the result. Robinson provided an early estimate based on a list of requirements that I had developed for the renovation and we were able to track changes to the project tasks and expenses over time, so I had no unwelcome surprises. The standard of work performed in my home is simply outstanding. The millwork in the living room and dining room was done to the highest standards, and the library shelving and other wood-work in the study was beautifully crafted. Robinson also installed wonderful crown moldings ... and in some rooms where the ceiling followed the roofline, this required custom cuts. All the moldings are excellently executed. The remodeled bathroom now has a heated floor, a heated towel rail, exquisite tile detailing, glass-enclosed shower, high-end fixtures with recessed towel and magazine storage. Robinson also happily accommodated the schedule of other vendors working on my home. For example, I had central AC installed and Robinson had to complete certain pre-requisite tasks in order for the AC vendor to do their work. I find Robinson to be an honorable person and very easy to work with. He understands that I want "perfection", and this is what he strives to deliver. In a project of this size, disconnects can happen ... but Robinson is always customer-centric and anxious to "do the right thing" so any issues get settled quickly and amicably. Robinson has a wonderful, talented team supporting him and I got to know them a little over the course of this project. They are efficient, keep the work space tidy and they clean-up every evening before leaving. They take pride in their work and on occasion worked later or on a Saturday in order to get a task completed. They were responsibe and I was happy for them to continue working during the periods when I was away from home. I would not hesitate to recommend Robinson for remodeling or home renovation work. He has transformed my home and everyone who visits has commented on the quality of the work he has performed. I am a very happy and satisfied customer!

The installation of the gas line was less than half a day. Despite minor obstacles in our basement, the installers installed the line and left the installation area immaculate. Once the line was in, the ventless system was installed. All employees wore protectors over their footwear in the main living area so the floors would not get scuffed or dirty. The team was polite, punctual and did what they said they'd do. We used the fireplace for a little less than a year. The owner came out for a routine checkup, found a defective switch, replaced it (under warranty). Punctual. Clean. Top notch service. Highly recommend.
