Review for New Orleans Master Bathroom Remodeling

SES Enterprises LLC
5.0
SUMMARY: SES did high quality work. They stuck to the projected cost. They finished within the estimated timeframe (or at least close enough). PRELIMINARY STAGES: SES promptly returned our initial call and set up a visit by their estimator. Within a very reasonable timeframe (maybe a little more than a week), we had the estimate in hand. In contrast, we were shocked to see how difficult it was to deal with some other contractors--even in the early stage, when we were trying to give them business. DETAILS OF THE JOB: They gutted ~50% of a ~180 sq ft bathroom to the studs; did some framing/re-framing; removed a large tub and patched in some hardwood; completely re-did the mortar bed/tile/plumbing for the shower; re-routed an HVAC intake to a different part of the house; moved/added some plumbing and electrical; installed a new commode and tile floor in a new toilet closet; hung crown molding; installed a double vanity with a stone top; hung a large mirror and frameless shower door; built out 2 closets. QUALITY. Their renovation was high quality and fit perfectly into our 1930’s arts-and-crafts home. They found, sanded, and painted an old 5 panel door to match the doors in rest of the house. The salvaged/refinished pine floor fits into the existing pine floor seamlessly, and the new trim work matches that in the rest of the house. Their tile guy did an outstanding job on the shower—floor to ceiling with a bullnose and a niche. The subs they used for the vanity/stone top and for the mirror/shower door did a high quality job. We designed our closets and the trim carpenter built them out perfectly (soft-close drawers and all). COMMUNICATION. This was a big asset to the SES experience. Ashley kept us posted with an email almost every day. We knew what to expect when we got home from work, as well as what to look for the next day and the rest of the week. In the rare event that there were surprises or delays, Ashley would let us know right away as well as what the resolution would be. While Ashley was the main line of communication, the owner, Shawn, was very accessible as well when necessary. PROFESSIONALISM. All the people we interacted with were professional and punctual. The workers were respectful of us and our home, and they did a great job cleaning up every day. With very few exceptions, people were at the house every weekday (and even some weekend days), from the start to the finish of the project. THE UNEXPECTED. As the work proceeded, some minor structural damage from the old shower had to be addressed and the hot water heater needed some repairs. These were taken care off in a time- and cost-efficient manner. Otherwise, there were a few miscommunications regarding the electrical rough ins, a plumbing valve, the closet build outs, and the shower door. All these were very minor and easily addressed. Along the way—and especially as things neared the end—Shawn made sure we had everything exactly the way we wanted it. This was our first time hiring a contractor. Before our renovation, we had heard many contractor-related horror stories. Our experience with SES was drastically different. We are already scheduling another project with them.

PROS: A. Estimator - I decided to work with this company because the first person who came to the house immediately knew what I wanted done and did not make up extra renovation needs unlike other contractors who came prior to his visit B. Field Team - very skilled with obvious expertise (1) Demolition and construction crew worked efficiently and was conscientious about protecting bedroom from dirt and dust. Completed their task in one day (2) Lead plumber re-routed pipes and drains for tub and walk-in shower in one day (3) Tile team is impressive - lined shower bed before laying down water resistant mud bed; insatlled cement board for shower walls; applied sealant and then installed tiles with great attention to details (tile alignment and aesthetic arrangement of mosaics) - required 4 days C. Overall craftsmanship of each team is excellent D. At certain supply stores, the customer can get the same purchase discount as the company E. I come from a military family and appreciate people who work with honor, integrity, and great character. I felt like they respected my home and gave me what I asked for. CONS (1) This company is very busy with a small crew so the process took longer than would have been required if they were only scheduling one job at a time. But I felt fortunate that my "small" job was worth the company's time. (2) The bathroom was in various stages of repair over 1-month. Nonetheless, I was patient because of the obvious worker skill sets. (3) Overall communication could be improved; but, fortunately for the customer and the company, the ladies in the office are responsive to inquiries

Overall, the job went extremely well. This was our 2nd time working w/ SES, and we would definitely work with them again. They were punctual, polite, and finished the job on time. This was our first bathroom renovation, and it wasn't a full scale renovation, but from talking to others, I think the pricing was competitive, and we were definitely pleased with the results. The scope of work included: - Painting - Removal of old / Installation of new medicine cabinets - Floating of damaged dry wall in - Installation of new light fixtures

My experience with MLM and Machi was very good. One of the things I liked most and was very important to me was the detailed estimate which lists exactly what will be done and breaks down the cost for each item. I also liked the timeline that tells you when the project will begin, the steps along the way and the projected finish date. From beginning to end I felt good knowing that if I called or emailed Machi he would always promptly respond. I feel the quality of the work is very high and it shows. I have a beautiful bathroom that I enjoy everyday. I also love showing it to family and friends. I would not hesitate to recommend MLM Inc.

MLM is a true professional construction company. Machi and his teams are not the average contractor. From the first time I met with them they exuded professionalism. They listen, they suggest and help, and then deliver. They were here when they said they would be and did quality work. Communication is extremely easy and effective with the online tool they use to keep you up to date on what is happening with pictures and posts daily. I would recommend Machi and the entire MLM team at the highest level if you want to make sure that your project gets done on time and correctly. I’ll be calling them when I’m ready to do the kitchen remodel.

Jason did an amazing job on our master bathroom renovation. Outstanding craftsmanship on everything, and in our case that included shiplap walls, custom shelving , very large custom shower, new ceiling, and all the trim and paint. Added bonus - extremely considerate of wife, children, and dogs (even fixed a broken glass figurine for our daughter). Can't say enough good things about Jason and his work.

We hired Steve for our master bathroom renovation. His price was more reasonable than any of the other estimates we received and he did very good quality work. He wanted everything to be perfect and up to our standards and worked with us until it was. His communication was excellent. He would get back to me immediately if I called with a question and would check in with me every day to keep me posted on where they were in the process and what would be happening the next day. Any little things that we asked him to fix he did so immediately without hesitation. After our marble counter top was installed there was a gap between it and the wall (no fault of his, the wall was bowed). We were willing to live with it but Steve called me the next morning and said he was up thinking about it all night and wanted to fix it, and that he did. Steve is an honest, hard working man and is very much a person of his word, which became very important to us through this process. You will not go wrong in your decision to hire he and his team.

Worse experience in my life. I've owned 8 plus homes with tons of renovations and this was by far worse experience. Was suppose to be a 4-7 day Job that has lasted over 4 weeks and is still not completed. Owner Ryan Pollitt subs out 100% of his work to undocumented, non English speaking laborers and fails to supervise , inspect work or take responsibility for any of the work they perform. Floor was never leveled and ceramic tiles are still a mess. Shower floor does not drain properly and the craftsmanship is substandard. I paid him labor money (5000) and bought all materials ... Job ran $7000 and 3 weeks over budget and will need to be completely redone from start to finish. He brought in 5 or more different floor ppl to try and remedy .. All quit... All say he's a buffoon and all are willing to testify when I take him to court. I pulled the plug on project today 9/11.15. Will RESEARCH and hire a legit contractor next time. This ordeal caused me to sign up for ANGIES LIST!! Lol. BOTTOM LINE ... Buyer BEWARE!!! Do not use this firm.. The number on his truck is 504-708-3293. He was referred by a local realtor who even inspected my property and apologized and recommended he start all over from scratch. My place is a mess .. Carport full of waste material... Never cleaned up after work... SCAMMER , liar, THIEF and disgrace to the trade!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

It went great! American Heritage did my hall bath renovation, and I put in a call to have my master bath remodeled next. Zack and Anthony are experts who know their trades. Combined, they possess over 50 years of practical remodeling experience in practically every trade needed to gut and put a high quality Kitchen and Baths together. I have known Zack for over 20 years. He was born in Europe, and he has always been a man with that "old world" integrity. He would often say: "If you're not satisfied with my work, you don't have to pay me until it is right." Of course, he never finishes a project unless it is done correctly. I highly recommend his work to anyone. You will not find anyone better! KJB

Recent Review: Chas and Ryan are pleasant to work with. They offered great suggestions on the overall objective of what we were trying to accomplish. They do quality work and are quick to address any defects found after the job is over. We especially love our new kitchen as they actually increased the working area. by moving a wall back.

Business Description: Preserving Investments A new kitchen or bathroom is a big, costly investment and both rooms require preservation. Simply spraying a random product and wiping down surfaces isn’t enough. The porous surfaces in these high-traffic rooms need to be sealed. Each HydroShield technician has completed special training, and is armed with the knowledge to analyze the surface and hand-pick the best product. After a full cleaning and prep work, the HydroShield product of choice is applied with expert precision. No matter which product is best, they’re all eco-friendly and have stood up to extensive testing—which is why a warranty is always offered. So who is this innovative business owner who’s taken area homes and businesses by storm? Bradley Hamilton is a native of Louisiana, born and raised in New Orleans. He attended Jesuit High School and grew up in Metairie. Currently living in Broadmoor, he serves the entire Greater New Orleans Area—or the GNO as Bradley and fellow locals call it. Architecture has always been his passion and Bradley feels lucky to be surrounded by some gorgeous buildings dating back to 1718, but he also can’t get enough of the local jazz, festivals and of course food. Deeply entrenched in the city’s culture and with a passion for restoring the city, buildings and culture, Bradley has a deep sense of responsibility when it comes to preserving his home city, which as a historical landmark can show signs of age. He moved to the area specifically because of the restoration possibilities and has found a great product to help make the insides of buildings as beautiful as the outside.
