Last Wednesday morning, I discovered what I thought was a mouse scurrying across my living room floor and into my kitchen. The next morning I called Ace Exterminating Co. to check out the problem. I had been hearing some strange noises in the house before, but I hadn't seen any pests in the house until then. Josh, our technician, showed up Thursday morning and performed a very thorough search of the house, inside and out, and discovered that what I'd seen was actually a Norway rat, smaller than most rats found in urban areas, and that they were using insulation in the back of the oven as a nesting spot. Since Norway rats generally get into houses via small holes in the foundation, he put bait blocks in the basement/crawlspace as well as in the attic, where I had heard occasional scurrying noises. He also returned the next morning to check on the bait blocks, and since some of them had been moved, we figured the rats were taking to it right away. He set some more bait stations and promised to come back in ten days or so to check on the status of the problem. So far, no more rats in the house, alive or dead

He then gave me an estimate to fill in approximately 6 holes in my crawl space where the mice may be entering...$800. Seemed kind of high, but I don't have anything to compRe it to. He then charged me a $75 evaluation fee, which I hadn't been told about. That was disappointing and is why he got a B. Just be upfront please

Presumably it went well - I wasn't home. The technician called me to say he was on the way and the invoice/receipt was in my front door when I got home later. This is the procedure we've used since I signed up for repeated treatments. In the spring I'd had two mice in my house, something that had never happened to me in any house I've ever lived in. They were seen a couple of weeks apart and one of my cats had dispatched them both. When the technician called that time, I made it a point to be home. He conducted the standard interior treatment, and then I told him about the mice and how my cat stares intently at a very specific area - the base of the vanity in one of the bathrooms - even though I couldn't see anything happening. The technician discovered that, when the carpet had been applied to the floor in front of the vanity, it partially covered the baseboard but hadn't been glued down. When he pulled the carpet away, there was a square hole on each end, as if the base of the vanity hadn't been measured quite right, and then the carpet simply laid on top of it, which visually covered both holes. He was positive this is where the mice were getting it, and it was the exact area that fascinated my cat so much. He also checked places where pipes (water, AC) come into the house and found nothing that would invite or encourage mice trying to get in, and found no indication of them having been anywhere else, like droppings or chewed materials. He had steel wool on his truck and stuffed both holes in the vanity base as tightly with it as he could. I haven't seen any more mice and my cat seems to have lost interest in the vanity's base

Joey responded promptly to my call. He came out and set a trap for squirrels. He checked weekly and no squirrel was ever caught. He then refilled existing mice traps up there with fresh peanut butter in case mice were the problem. No mice were caught but noises finally stopped after about a month. Maybe mice ate and went elsewhere to “pass away.

They charge me $99 every quarter. I had problems with spiders and ants, when I was using another company, but after the first treatment of Rove Pest Control within 2 or 3 weeks it was gone. They had to come back once in between, because I saw some more and they came out within 2 days, but by the time they came the ants had already died. They call ahead and come when they say they would; infact they give a 2 hour window and come in the beginning of the window itself. I will use them again in the future

Matthew truly is a wildlife and wildlife removal expert. We initially called Matthew and Critter Gitter because we heard what we thought might be a snake in the attic. At the same time, we were in the process of installing a new AC unit that had been partially damaged by wildlife (mostly mice and rats). Matthew came out quickly and gave very fair estimates for the attempt at rodent and snake catching, and for sealing all exterior entryways to the house. The home improvements look amazing, and Matthew was able to relocate a large snake (that we haven't heard in the attic since). I would definitely recommend Matthew at Critter Gitter for his knowledge, professionalism, transparency, and fair prices
