Reviews in Modesto to Build Carports
JKB HOMES CORP
I would never ever use this builder again. In fact, we almost walked away twice because we were so disgusted with their practices and lack of customer service and professionalism. They withheld information more than once that ended up costing us more money. They told us they were doing everything to keep our house on track for the closing date so we locked in our loan at a great rate. Then we found out the house would be a month behind schedule by a document sent to our loan officer. They didn't even have the courtesy to tell us. The builder said he would pay for some of the fees for the extended loan lock only if the loan company and both agents ate the cost too. Then when it was time to pay he wouldnt do it. Even after signing a document saying he would. He also advertised his development as having no mello roos. Then our realtor found out from from another client that there were in fact mello roos and the builder knew about for quite some time and never revealed it to us. 17 families were effected by this. We then tried to ask him to comp our upgrades equal to the amount of the taxes. He just flat out rejected our proposal, no counter, no nothing. He did not try to work with us on anything. Even professionals who have been in the real estate business for years say they have never seen something this bad. I understand things happen when building a new home that sometimes can't be helped by the builder. However the way JKB Homes handled everything shows, in my opinion, that this builder lacks integrity and has no interest in working with his clients. It seems to be all about the money regardless of how families are affected. I do not feel I could trust anything this builder said now. If you are looking for a new home I recommend avoiding the potential hassle that comes with JKB

Required 10% deposit before starting. Stole redwood lumber from building they tore down. Refused to return any of my deposit after I fired him. Taking him to small claims court!

We chose Brawley Construction to complete our project of a total home remodel over the past few months. What started as needing an office for my home based business led to a complete remodel.... completely by our own choice! We were so happy with the plans and work Mike and crew did on the living room addition which allowed us to create new office room, and gave us three larger bedrooms for the family, we decided to go all out and add on a kitchen remodel as well. Services were done in a timely manner and Mike was always available to answer questions or help with any needs we might of had. Brawley Constriction went above and beyond to help make our home remodel look like a brand new house. We have had so many compliments on the work they did and I know we will use them again in the future when it comes time to update the bathrooms. I highly recommend Brawly Construction if you are looking for good workmanship, good prices, reliability and good all around professionalism

They were on time. I was very impressed with them even though I didn't choose them. My next door neighbor used them and it was gorgeous what they did. We did not find them on Angie's List. We have a new community so we got names from people in the community that used these people. The owner's name is Keith Brathovd. I was very pleased with both their interaction and their work that I had seen. I think their quote was around $24000.00. I liked some of the suggestions he made. I liked what I felt was his up front honesty about pricing. I liked the fact that he recommended I get a couple more quotes before deciding on whom to choose. When I did call him to tell him I wasn't going to use him, he spoke very highly of the person I picked as well. I think he was professional, prompt, and reasonable. I think he did quality work. I would use them again in the future. They are one of the companies that are generally used in the area where I live. They also offer monthly maintenance on yard work and stuff in addition to their landscape abilities

The house, generally, was well-built. But, most of the specialty items were not done properly (or at all). The electrical system was not done well. A 220-volt circuit was not installed at all, even though on the blueprints; this has left me to this day with no instant hot water in the back bathroom. Other separate 110-volt circuits on the blueprints were not installed, so I could not run room air conditioners in particular bedrooms. The house has had constant problems ever since. I have long extension cords running around, to get power, and lights flicker all the time. Also, during construction, he told me several times that he did not want to do something in the contract because he gave us too good a price on the construction. So, I allowed him to eliminate 100s of dollars of things listed in the contract. And then at the end of construction, he asked me if I wanted to have him build me a driveway into the garage. It cost at least $1500 to re-do the sidewalk and curb. After construction was finished, we gave him a letter with 6 things he had done incorrectly (not including the electrical issues). He did not fix (or attempt to fix) any of them. One that was most annoying was, he placed a hollow-core interior door for my back door. It was flimsy, and way too small to fit properly in the opening, and let the noise come through. We just let the whole thing go, and did not pursue action against him. I would say that he can build a generic house OK, but do not ask for anything special

Paul (owner of Mikita Construction) is everything you want in a contractor. I hired him to build a 640 sq Ft addition/attached -in-law quarters that will include a fairly large kitchen expansion and remodel. After our initial consultation with Paul, we received a quote that was rather high. After some clarification, Paul gave us a high quote based on a lot of 'unknowns'. We didn't have any specifics selected prior to his consultation: appliances, electrical fixtures, paint, flooring etc etc... so Paul gave us a high quote that would naturally be adjusted lower as the project developed and evolved depending on material that we selected. It should be noted that Paul was up front that his specialty is "framing" and that we hired him to be the project manager for the project - which means that he was/is in charge of hiring sub contractors that will work under his supervision for what he hires them for. Paul is honest and forthright in his approach and takes accountability if there are incident(s) that go wrong. We only had one incident involving bad weather which resulted in some unfortunate and unexpected material damage - without issue Paul stepped up and addressed the issue to our complete satisfaction. Additionally, my project required City inspections and, to my knowledge, he passed every inspection 1st time around. Our project is finally completed, my families' only frustration was the natural lengthy time period it took for project completion - 3-4 months. Paul was completely aware of the frustration and did his absolute best to move things along. Mikita Construction has a Facebook page that you can view his work from and he also comes ready and prepared with references. Throughout the project we added on many 'odds and ends' - extra lighting, concrete walk-ways as well as fixing some dry-wrought issues that were pre-existing. All of those things had me concerned about our over all budget. Paul was aware of my concerns and ensured me we would be on budget - which he met. My wife and I have already made plans for additional renovation in the future and FULLY intend to hire Paul to do the work. One of my biggest concerns before starting this project was hiring a bad contractor. I am so happy to be able to refer Paul as an AWESOME contractor. If I had questions, issues, concerns... Paul was always willing to listen, educate, help, come up with solutions and put the customer at ease. Lastly, there were a number of different sub contractors that were involved on my project. I'm incredibly happy that I hired Paul to hire and manage the sub contractors, I simply wouldnt have been able to do it. This is one happy and completely satisfied customer
It took me 2 years of interviewing with design concept with several Bay Area builders before I signed with Valley Hone Builders. Extremely patient team allowed for a year long design and planning, followed by 12 months demolition and build. Even with a major build error, they were professional and ethical, correcting the error and building my dream home. They have been true to their year warranty and even work after hours. Arman (whom I affectionately call second in command) and Joy (award winning designer) where essential team members whom I consider as friends at the competition of the build. You can easily find less expensive builders, but my grandpa always said, you get what you pay for. Without hesitation, I would sign with them again

He did a real good job. We liked the job he did. It is really nice. Everybody comes to the house and asked who had done all that and so they hire him to do other jobs around the neighbourhood. The price was reasonable. I called three different companies, all of them wanted $20000 to $22000. He charged me almost half of that. He charged me less than $10,000. I bought the windows and the sidings but together it was half of what the other companies were trying to charge me. We like the work. The only thing that I would complain about was that, he works with the contractor right, he subcontracted somebody to come in and take two or three trees out because we cemented the whole backyard, because we have a swimming pool. We did the patio and the walkway and all that. He had to take out two trees, but the big trees the guy took out, he drove his trailer up on my yard. I guess that was easier for him but in the process of doing that, he made tire marks. He loaded a lot of stuff in the trailer. Tire marks were left on the lawn. I have a hard time telling him "hey you have to take care of that," because he fell. I just little by little filled it up. That was about it. Other than that, I was really happy with what they did. He was there everyday and early in the morning and sometimes he worked on Sundays too. They broke a lot of concrete where they put cobalt stone. That costs a lot of money than doing the siding and the window. I have three rentals and so every time I need something, I just call him. Even though he is doing other work, he still comes over and put in the work schedule. I guess, he appreciate the fact that when people come and ask, I tell them how much I paid and they look at the work. They call him and utilize him. In my opinion, he is a very fair person, a whole lot fair than the other companies. He is professional and comes and does the work. I have no problems with him
Arrived on time. A mother and son team arrived. I learned that that would be able to clean for 3 hours. Some cabinets could not be thoroughly cleaned and the shelves inside the frig were not completed... but within the allotted time. I was also asked to reschedule st the last minute which resulted in an impact to my work schedule
