Reviews in Minneapolis for Tankless Water Heater Installation

St Paul Pipeworks

Water heater failed suddenly just before Thanksgiving. Charlie came out on very short notice and walked me through the options for new water heaters. We decided on a tankless heater after having a long conversation about where it would be placed, how it would work, and the costs and benefits of different options?all of which Charlie wrote out for me, and even gave me information on the different brands and models they work with so we could look them up ourselves. Provided cost estimates for each option, and the one we chose was within $50 of estimate. Great service. We couldn't get install done until after Thanksgiving, but removal and install done in about 4 hours. I had someone come out to check for a gas leak later, and a faulty union was replaced?no charge. They have been great about calling and scheduling each time. Very, very happy with the service. I've used other plumbers in town for years but seriously no more. I wouldn't call anyone else now.

We have the program where 8 appliances are covered by homesmart. On our online main page it list covered appliances and the last one says water heater-tankless and being covered. We now have a leaking hot water heater and they are saying that they do not cover tankless hot water heaters in minnesota. The side note of tankless also has more text that you cant see online of a risk note. So I spoke to the rep last night to set up service. She put it through and I even said on the call our tankless hot water heater is leaking so very nicely she put an urgent status on it. Got the phone call this morning from the service people saying oh they dont cover those you need to call them right away so I did. The representative was on a phone that kept cutting out and was very difficult trying to talk with him. Then it cleared up a bit to the point where we had the conversation and told me it wasn't not covered in minnesota but it is in colorado. I was like then why does it say covered appliances water heater-on our main page. He couldn't answer me and said he escalated it back to his supervisor with no specific time of call back and I was going to ask him but his phone kept cutting out so I hung up. I waited about 3.5-4 hours and called back since I hadn't heard anything. Now I am a authorized user on the xcel account and have now spoken to 2 reps that i have clearly stated my name and this was my spouses account that I am an authorized user on. I said to the 3rd rep my name and I am calling as a supervisor was supposed to call me back due to these reasons. She again stated that tankless water heaters aren't covered. I said well my online says it is covered. She told me the article and page of the service agreement where it says they are not. I said well then why doez it still say this and then she said there's a side note. I was like there is no side note or anywhere I can click to see the side note saying that it was not covered. Then she comes back and says it can be days before a supervisor gets back to you . I was like but my water heater is leaking to the point it has ruined a door now and possibly walls. (We ourselves have buckets to catch the water.) Then she said what's you name and i told her and she's like you are not a user on this account and I am like yes I am. I have scheduled a couple repairs before from my own log in page and my spouse has their own log in page. I also said I have the screenshot of it showing it online and she said I cant even talk to you any more about this until you are a user and was super rude. I said thank you and hung up. I cant believe this is happening. It has been a wonderful service so far but this is the last straw. I am going to be telling everyone who will listen about this experience and possibly escalating it to legal and the better business bureaus and other consumer reporting sites and bloggers. Sorry xcel this is not ok. So make sure you read that service agreement with a fine tooth comb as i dont want to see another family get hurt. Especially when i had major back surgery last week and dealing with this has caused even more pain and suffering. If it were possible id switch power somewhere else.

We needed a new water heater and due to a variety of issues it needed to be moved to different location in the house. I knew that going in. Ray responded to my online submission (on a Sunday, which may not be the norm but was great) within 15 mins. We chatted about the options and he sent Nate out the next day to make sure the unit would fit where I wanted to put it. I scheduled the installation with Ray that day. Nate and Jake showed up exactly on time and worked HARD for 7 hours to do the necessary work. They were very nice, but also professional. They left a clean workspace as well. Great service. Thanks!

The installation went fairly well. Gjerry installed the water heater and necessary ducting for exhaust and intake air. The installation was done neatly and fairly quickly. However, we did have to ask him to come back to add some clamps to some pipes that he forgot to clamp. He came out the day that I called and clamped the pipes. Unfortunately, he forgot to clamp one of the pipes, so either I need to call him again or do it myself. It should be noted that Gjerry only installs tankless water heaters; he does not install the traditional tank water heaters.

Street Plumbing
5.0
Street Plumbing was the most professional and quality plumbing service I have dealt with over the last decade. I had a faucet and a water heater break within the same month and they were a fraction of the cost of the competition. They did not cut any corners, and went above and beyond any plumber I have dealt with in the past. Larger contractors asked for 10,000 dollars plus on my tankless install, and they were far more competitive in terms of pricing. My new Bosch tankless unit looks phenomenal, and they even improved my current pipping layout. My new faucet was the exact same story. Look no further than Street Plumbing!

Norblom Plumbing

Jim, the plumber who put in the water heater, came out to clean it. Very professional. He came out last year to clean the water heater. He showed me how to hook everything up, so that I could do it myself next year. He also gave me information on a water saving toilet, a faucet in my basement that is probably the age of the house (81). It took approx 1 1/2 hours. I would definitely call Norblom again and would ask for Jim. My cat likes him, too.

Midstate Plumbing and Heating
5.0
I could not have asked for a better experience than I had with Midstate. From the beginning of the process of getting estimates and finding the "right" company to go with to install a furnace, humidifier, and tankless water heater, Midstate stood out. It was important to me to use a smaller company. I like supporting smaller businesses. I don't like using big companies, where you are just a number, and if problems arise the company doesn't care and the company won't stand behind its product or its work. (That is my own past personal experience talking). I wanted my business appreciated because spending thousands of dollars is a big deal to me. Also, I was reassured because it was clear that Midstate had been in the business for a while and would continue to be in the business in the future. Most importantly, when I looked over the Angie's List reviews, it was clear that customer service and satisfaction were important to the company. When I put feelers out to various companies I researched on Angie's List to get estimates, Midstate contacted me first, worked with my schedule, and came very quickly. Eric was the rep who worked with us. He showed up on time. He spent over an hour with me explaining all of my options. He was very considerate and patient. Never made me feel dumb with any questions. Didn't talk down to the "little woman." Was very respectful. Never tried to push me to one choice or another. Just gave me all of the information I needed to make an informed decision. He was personable and talking to him did not feel like he was trying to make a sale. After getting other estimates, I liked Midstate the best. Midstate worked with me on pricing when the other estimates I received came in lower. I am very grateful for that. It would have been hard giving someone else my business when I felt less confident in the others, but money is money. Anyway, they were able to very quickly get to me. On the day of the scheduled install, one of the technicians was in a car accident on the way to my house(luckily, he was okay!). Instead of rescheduling, Midstate worked things around to send another technician to me so as not to inconvenience me. I was blown away by that dedication to service. Pat and another gentlemen (I'm sorry, I cannot remember his name) came to do do the install of the furnace. They were very careful about not making a mess. They were also very nice, very personable. Pat kept me informed throughout the process of what they were doing, how the job was going. Eric came when he finished another job to assist with the tankless water heater installation. They all stayed late to get the job done and did excellent work. They cleaned up after themselves so well. When it was discovered that a part was missing (it had been with the driver who had been in an accident), they were apologetic (there was no need to be). Soon after, Eric came by another day (that worked best for my schedule) to install the missing part. Pat and Eric were both wonderful and patient in taking me through my new furnace, humidifier, and tankless water heater and educating me on what I need to do with them. Whenever I called Eric throughout this process, he promptly responded to me. Obviously, spending a chunk of money on a furnace, humidifier, and a tankless water heater is a bit daunting, but it was very reassuring working with Midstate and seeing Midstate's commitment to customer satisfaction. I recommend this company to everyone. Thank you, guys, for your hard work and your patience!

Our existing gas water heater developed a leak and needed replacing. I was interested in replacing with a tankless water heater that I could use as a back up for a solar system in the future. Paladin was very helpful in finding an appropriate water heater for our needs and had no problems getting it hooked up. We had to wait 4 days for the heater to be installed as their schedule was full, however, the wait was worth it for the excellent service. He was also able to provide me information regarding tax rebates for this type of water heater.

Weld & Sons Plumbing

Prior to coming over, Kevin had called me to discuss the problem I was having. In short, I was not getting hot water in my shower. I had contacted three or four other plumbers prior to contacting Weld & Sons. They had all misdiagnosed the problem and/or couldn't explain why I wasn't getting hot water. Most thought that I needed to replace my tankless water heater with a standard unit. However, with Kevin's help, I was able to determine that the shower faucet was the real problem and not the water heater. Kevin's knowledge of plumbing and tankless water heaters saved me $1,000. Also, he did a great job installing the new shower faucet.

Norblom Plumbing

I hired Norblom Plumbing ultimatley to replce my hot water heater. My family and I had set off the hot water heater and went with out hot water for a week. He have a 40 gallon water heater and in the end decided to switch to a tankless heater. We chose Norblom Plumbing because there were not many companies in our area that would provide tankless water heaters as an option. Instead of a tank the water is heated as it runs through the pipes. The heaters are in inline with the water pipes. This company also completed plumbling for us. They also installed a pressure reducer because we had high water pressure. My family and I are very happy with all the quality work performed by this company. I recieved very good value for my dollar. Since then we have had no problems with there work. Great quality work done by Norblom Plumbing.

What do customers in Minneapolis say about Tankless Water Heater Installation?

I was told that tankless heaters had really gone up in price since mine was installed (2000) and that their brand of heater was the only one they installed. A simple internet check showed that tankless heaters of my capacity had not gone up in price at all, and that their brand of heater was not commonly available and so no service reports were available. The net result was that they wanted $7000 to relace a $1200 heater.
