We live in a 1 1/2 story 1920 house that had a metal ridge vent. I had a leak that basically stained my tile ceiling in the upstairs bedroom. I tried to figure out where it came from and tried to seal it myself but had no luck. We called one company in - I don't remember who, and it was a nightmare. He basically ripped us off. He didn't do an estimate of services, went on the roof, hammered a few nails in then charged us for it. Didn't fix the leak. Because of this bad experience (and a different roof leak that failed to be fixed properly by a different contractor) I came into this project pretty nervous about who would do the work. I talked to a few contractors and settled on Coates. The team was great. Courteous, professional, patient with questions. They were OK with letting me get on the roof with them to talk to them about what they were doing. They removed the existing vent, removed shingles, installed boards, ice and water barrier and reroofed with a new ridge vent. The leak is gone. I'm very happy with the work and would recommend them to anyone.
