Eli was very easy to work with. When they came back to backfill after the foundation was built, there was a large tree stump that was not fully removed by the tree company. They had to leave and a week later I had the stump removed. Eli had his crew back out to finish the grading for the new driveway with no questions asked, even though it meant another trip to our house. His machine operator, Josh, is amazing, I've never seen anyone operate large equipment in such a small space. Great company would definitely recommend to others!!!

Couldn't be happier with Trinity's work on my project so far. Hired Travis to do the site prep for my barn. Work was exactly as described and as a result I've hired Trinity to pour the concrete in the building in a few weeks. We've been working through the winter and he's been great with coaching me through the unique aspects of Minnesota winter construction. Highly recommended!

They provided us a wonderful landscape plan. We then pulled out all of the existing shrubs, but had Pahl's prepare the new dirt, grading and beds for the new plants. They also installed some landscape rock and steps. They did VERY good work and we have been very satisfied with their products and work, even two years later now! I'd recommend giving them a try.

Even though it was the worst time (over the Holiday) they came out as soon as they could and installed 20 ft of new PVC and made sure rest was secure. Couldn't have asked for a better job or company!!!! Dug up the minimum of yard, to make springtime repair easier.

KEV'S TRUCKING & EXCAVATING

We thought we needed our foundation excavated, sealed and drain-tiled. Kevin came to estimate the work. He spent a full hour inspecting our foundation and landscaping and showed us the drain tile already in place and how the foundation appeared to be sealed. He recommended that we manually do a minimal amount of landscaping to improve the grade and even suggested a company to help with that. He did not request payment for his in depth consultation, but I asked to pay him for his time since he probably saved us $1000 to $3000 in excavation and landscaping costs. This is the second time Kev has really helped us out. Several years ago in a different house he helped us repair a truly cracked, leaking foundation. You can see our grade A review for that work on this site, dated October of 2010.

fabulous. kevin is extremely responsive and easy to work with. he's a great guy that really knows his stuff. he worked on the final grade on a new construction lot in the middle of a hill. he handled it with ease and the grade turned out perfectly. he also built a huge rock retaining wall that is absolutely beautiful. highlight of our yard. definitely recommend him to anyone.

Bevlor Utilities Inc

Bevlor did a great job. We had hoped they could line the pipe to the main line but due to street widening and an unexpected angle that was not possible. They had the job done in less than a full day. We were thankful they were able to do it in November rather than waiting until spring.

KRUEGER EXCAVATING INC

Terrific experience from start to finish. Nate and his crew came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Excavators with significant pool removal experience are not easy to come by. I first contacted an excavator who was referred by our pool maintenance company, but the bid was high and the owner was less than professional. Nate was 100% reliable - we recommend him without reservation.

Recent Review: Our sewer backed up and an inspection with a camera showed that the pipe to our septic tank was broken. I call Kothrade Excavating and Glen came right over to check it out and told me exactly what he needed to do. He emailed me a quote in a couple of days. The price was reasonable and we scheduled an appointment. Glen and Joel showed up on time with a small backhoe and completed the repair in a few hours. They used better materials and methods than the original installer had used. They were quite friendly and courteous and gave me advice on what to do and not do with a septic system. They completed the repair on time and for the agreed upon cost. We would hire them again.

Recent Review: Clark Companies of MN did an AMAZING job installing our gravel driveway. They took their time and made sure it was exactly how we wanted it. The guys asked us along the way how we liked it, of course we said we loved it! We’ve been living in our new build for about 8 months with use of only half our driveway, Clark Companies of MN came in quickly, reasonably priced and now we can finally use our whole driveway!!

Recent Review: Very good experience. Not the least expensive but did a very good job. Rep asked to meet with me beforehand to understand our needs, so provided exactly the detailed quote we needed. Had best warranty of several companies contacted. Rep was friendly and knowledgeable. Estimated 3 weeks before installation and that's what it was. Company called one day before installation as promised. Arrived a bit earlier that day than anticipated but not a problem. Base was prepared well, and they worked carefully around underground sprinkler system. Returned one week later to lay asphalt, again called day before. Result was very good with proper drainage.

Recent Review: I thought long and hard before writing this review. Mcquillan Bros did some things exceptionally well, and other things below par and I did not want to blow either side of that equation out of proportion. Here is my story of how they performed from first contact to the end of installation. First of all, the people in this company are great. Outgoing, friendly, and for the most part, knowledgeable. The company seems to be genuinely interested in keeping the customer happy, and to a certain degree, they do so. On Monday July 2nd, we called McQuillan Bros and asked if somebody would come and give us a quote for a new furnace, a new air conditioner, a new water heater, and a new water softener. The next day, Tuesday, July 3rd, Nathan showed up and was incredibly friendly and willing to work. He walked around our house and also checked our existing equipment. When he was finished we all sat down to discuss what we needed. I’ll say that he had his company presentation bullet-points down to a tee. At one point though, I had to tell him to lay off being ‘Mr. Salesman’ and just answer our questions without all the hype. After a while it was agreed on what we needed and what the price would be. We signed all the documents and he said they could install the unit on Thursday, July 5th. We were overjoyed that they also said they would bring a temporary portable air conditioner today to help cool our house until the work was finished! Nathan took photos of the windows in our house where we wanted the portable air conditioner’s exhaust to go. He said that he would send them in to the McQuillan Brothers office so that they would know what equipment to bring to our house to install the portable AC unit. Great idea! That afternoon the guy showed up with our portable air conditioner. Again a very friendly and outgoing person. He started to install the air conditioner and asked where the window was that we wanted the exhaust to go out. We showed him what we had shown Nathan and he said that he did not bring the right parts because he did not know what type of window it was going to be. What seemed to have happened was that Nathan neglected to send that information back to the office and therefore, the guy didn’t know what equipment/parts he needed to do the install. He actually had to leave and come back 2 separate times after his arrival in order to get everything he needed to do this right. On one trip he even stopped by Fleet Farm to purchase the necessary plastic tubing he needed. That was great, but it was also my first clue that McQuillan Bros may not have been as organized as they should be. We were told that the installation was to start on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. At 10:30 or so, no installers had yet arrived, so we called McQuillan Bros to find out what happened. They said that they had switched the install time to noon but had forgotten to call us and let us know of that change. This was the 2nd indication that they might not be well organized. Around noon, two Gentlemen showed up and began the installation. It seemed they were doing a great job and during the time they were installing our new equipment, John McQuillan himself stopped out to check on their work. He was great and answered all the questions I had. Again I have to say that the installation guys were great, outgoing, and personal, and, in this regard, McQuillan Bros HVAC was an absolute joy to work with. They told us that the water softener itself was still being built so they could not install it that same day. This was no problem for us at all. They also realized that they had not brought the correct filters for the furnace. Clue #3 that they were not well organized? (They said they would bring the correct filters out soon, and in a few days, they did) They finished the installation that Thursday around 8:30 p.m. and everything was working great. (sans water softener, of course) On Saturday morning we noticed that our air conditioning unit outside was clicking off and on about every 5 Seconds. This went on and on and of course, we felt something was wrong, so we called McQuillan Brothers and they asked if was OK to send a technician out on Monday. I told them we would like to see someone today and they did indeed send somebody out that same day. Impressive, but also the right thing to do in this case. The repair technician looked over and tested everything and said it was all working perfectly. Of course it was not doing the on and off clicking while he was here. He looked at our thermostat and found that we had set up a schedule for the temperature changes we wanted throughout the day. He said that that may be confusing the air conditioner so he deleted that schedule. Sunday night while we were sleeping we woke up to the sound of the AC unit clicking on and off again every 5 seconds or so, just like before. We called them the following day (Monday) and again they sent a technician out to inspect the unit. This technician spent several hours going through everything. The connection between the outside air conditioner and our house had frozen up and that seemed to be what was causing the air conditioner to do what they called “short cycle”. After several hours of work and testing the technician told me he thought he knew what the problem was.but first wanted to call the main office. He talked with Andy McQuillan and what they determined together is that they had installed the wrong size air conditioner for our home! What? At this point I was flabbergasted and the questions began flowing through my mind. Did the salesman order the wrong air conditioner for our home? He was the supposed expert! Was he trying to inflate his commission by selling us a more expensive air conditioner than we needed? Why didn’t the first repair guy they sent out on Saturday notice this flagrant error? At this point, I do not have the answers. But this did solidify in my mind that this company’s right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. This mistake was unconscionable. Yup! Clue #4 on the organizational problem with McQuillan Bros. This organizational problem was now becoming a pattern. They said they needed to replace the unit they had installed and sure enough, two days later (Wednesday) they came out and removed the air conditioning unit they initially installed and replaced it with a smaller unit. The first air conditioner that they had put in was a 3-ton unit. (Carrier #24ACC636) I guess that was more than we needed for our house. The second unit they put in was a 2-ton unit. (Carrier #24ACC624) After this fiasco I certainly wanted to do research on pricing and what we really needed for a central AC unit. But it seems as though finding air condition pricing, BTU output, and Seer ratings is a bit like trying to buy a new mattress. There are so many options even within the same model range that you don't know which is which. I know the exact model numbers of the two carrier units they have installed but it's very difficult to find basic pricing and specifications for each unit. I would assume that the 2-ton replacement unit would be less expensive than the 3-ton unit that they initially installed. But they have not yet offered any compensation for what now seems to me, an over-payment. So, all in all, what was to have been a single day installation, took an entire week. I will say that they did step up to the plate and get things re-installed in a timely fashion. And they did seem very concerned that we were having these problems. Also, everything seems to be working fine now and for the most part we are happy. It was just the confusion of the entire process that was disconcerting and stressful to a certain degree. When spending this kind of money, one would expect things to be done right the first time. Why did they install the wrong AC unit in the first place? This issue continues to baffle me. And because of that error the question becomes, “is everything now properly installed?” How about our furnace? Is that more furnace than we need? And there’s still the issue of price compensation for the smaller unit. I did post that I would not hire them again. And probably would not. But since, in the end, everything seems to be working correctly and they were very responsive in fixing their mistakes, I’m going to cautiously recommend them. I will post updates to this review as needed.

Recent Review: Sales rep came to take a look at the job in May after we purchased an Angie's List coupon. We agreed on a July date for the job, but it had to be postponed a couple times because of the hot weather. We're mostly satisfied with the end result, but the crew could have been a lot cleaner than it was, and the details aren't impressive (edges that aren't straight, sloppy sides).
