We are excited so far with the level of professionalism and courtesy that the team members at Champion have shown to my family. They are in the process of designing our sunroom and have been very responsive to our design questions and needs. They have given us a timeline for the services and so far have stuck to the process.

We were excited about the project and put the money down in the spring and were told that the target date for the construction was August. In May we were called by Scott Bear the owner and he said that his prices were going up and that if we gave him some more money he would order our sunroom and get us earlier in the schedule. Well, we gave him the money but did not get the sunroom built until a couple of weeks after the original promise date. The build did go quickly when it finally started and we got $300 back as a refund for the late start. We had a leak in the roof line next to the house and it took some time, but they got out to us and fixed it. But it took two trips to stop the leaks finally. The room is lovely now that it's finished, but the aggravation during the build was not fun.

John and his team were wonderful. Our sunroom was added-on to our home in the 60's and was a structural mess. John provided a straightforward and reasonable solution to get it fixed and back to working order. The project was started ahead of schedule and completed on time. The quality of workmanship was excellent, and they were very flexible when last minutes changes and additions to the project scope came up. I would DEFINITELY hire this team again and will recommend to anyone needing their services.

We thought for quite some time about adding a sunroom addition to our house. I had researched options and had a picture in my head of what I wanted our sunroom to look like. When we made the decision to move it from vision to reality, we began the builder selection process and chose Bear Builders after our first meeting with Scott Bear in March. Scott met us at our house and I described my vision. Scott listened to me carefully and offered suggestions based on his expertise, and so began our journey. Much to our surprise, our sunroom turned out even better than I envisioned, thanks to Scott and his skilled team of professionals. It took a few revisions to complete the design stage of the project, and the construction process began in May which was consistent with the timeline promised when we signed the contract in March. The project went smoothly overall. We were very lucky and had great weather during the build (the local drought came at a good time as far as our construction schedule was concerned). There were a couple unforeseen issues that were addressed quickly but caused only brief delay. The overall project took a bit longer than we anticipated (projected completion date was July 1), but that wasn't entirely Bear Builders? fault, as there were selections that we needed to make which took some time on our part. Regarding that process, I?d like to offer a couple suggestions to improve and possibly speed up the construction process. It wasn?t clear to us when we needed to make our selections for things such as finish flooring and house wall options (those components aren?t included in the base sunroom package and can be contracted separately). It would be helpful for Bear Builders to provide instructions or guidance regarding selection options at the beginning of the construction process, and indicate specifically when a client's selections will affect the construction schedule. In addition, there were different contact persons responsible for different components of the construction process, and it was sometimes confusing to know with whom we should be discussing specific issues (e.g., something in need of correction prior to the next phase of construction, or who was responsible for selection discussions). Overall, our experience was extremely positive and the final result is a beautiful sunroom that exceeds our expectations. We have had no major problems with our sunroom, and Bear Builders was responsive to our request to fix some small issues when the sunroom was completed (the ?punch list? items). There was one water leak identified during the construction phase which was quickly addressed. We have had no water issues since that time. We would not hesitate to choose Bear Builders if we were to build another sunroom, and would recommend Bear Builders to anyone contemplating an addition. We love our oasis and use it every day. We?d be happy to show off our room to anyone who wanted to see it.

YOU NEED TO BE YOUR OWN CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISOR WITH CHAMPION. THE WORK CREW DOES THE LEAST AMOUNT OF WORK WITHOUT REGARD TO QUALITY. IT APPEARS CHAMPION TAKES ON MORE PROJECTS THAN THEY CAN HANDLE AND WERE MOVING WORKERS FROM OUR PROJECT TO OTHER PROJECTS AND EXTENDED THE TIMEFRAME OVER MONTHS INSTEAD OF WEEKS. THE YARD SIGN ADVERTISEMENT 'DISCOUNT' COVERS THREE YEARS OF SIGNS IN YOUR YARD TWICE PER YEAR - THEY SIGN YOU UP FOR IT AND EXPLAIN IT LATER.

They did not tell me I actually had a choice of colors for the sunroom. When they came out to perform the job they didn't do the job right and the room leaked. In the winter I had snow blowing in. I held back 10k and a man came out to collect the money, his name was John Hudack. I told him I would not pay him until I was satisfied with the porch. He wouldn't leave and I had to threaten to call 911. This summer it leaked again and they sent somebody that finally fixed it. I have so much aggravation with this terrible mess.

We were quite impressed with the product, but more importantly with the vendor himself. Scott reviewed our site and concluded that his product would meet our desire to convert a three season room to a comfortable four season. However he could not with a clear conscious recommend his product in this case. He felt it would a poor choice from an architectural perspective and referred us to another vendor who could work with the existing structure and preserving architectural harmony. Those high ethical standards. are hard to find. Thanks again for your help and we certainly will recommend you!

We had Paul come out and give us a new quote on a sunroom. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He spent 2.5 hours looking at our space and giving us the whole sales pitch. We had him quote us what we thought was a standard 144 square foot sunroom to replace an existing one off the side of our deck. A normal shingled roof with one skylight window non-opening and a sliding glass door out onto our deck. Everything was good until he wrote the price down. $52,000! My wife and I couldn't believe it. We asked did you write the number down wrong? I feel he failed to do his homework and adapt a solution that would fit within our budget. Maybe they don't have anything they can do for much less money? But, if he would have looked at our current home value he would know that a $52,000 sunroom makes no financial sense from a resale point of view. We would never get that money back. The kicker was that his price didn't include the electrical cost to wire up the heating and cooling unit or any flooring. So it would have been closer to $55,000. For a house worth about $245,000 current market value, and in a neighborhood where the median home value is around $200k it makes no financial sense. We'd never get that return back. On top of that he told us if we wanted to do a laminate floor ourselves we could save a lot of money and it would be around $200 to $300. Seriously? He is recommending we DIY a $300 laminate floor in a sunroom that costs $52,000? He lost all credibility when he wrote his big number down. What is also telling, is he told us about the HVAC wall unit they install from Amana. He told us it's $3500 we looked up these units online and they are between $800 - $1000. Now I understand a little bit of a markup since they are providing it, but not $3500 for something I could order online for $800. This shows how much these guys pad their bids with profit. It was a total waste of our evening. I'm sure they do great work and build really nice sunrooms, but for what they charge they should be focusing on $500,000 homes and above. If our standard 144 square foot sunroom cost $52,000, I can't image what some of their larger/more elaborate designs go for. I would have respected them much more if they would have told us over the phone that their starter sunrooms cost around $50k. Instead they get you invested in the project with their 2.5 hour sales pitch, because if you knew the price upfront you would never agree to meet with them. But when they have it all designed and show you a computer model, they get you all excited about it and want you to make a quick decision. This is apparent when they knock $5k off the price tag if you agree to project that night. Talk about high pressure sales tactics. I like contractors to come over look at the project and spend no more than an hour and give me a bid and don't force me to make any quick decision. Don't waste your time with these guys unless money is no object and you don't mind overpaying for everything.

Recent Review: Our addition was finished in 3 months, on time and on budget! We chose Amethyst because they had done the remodeling for the previous owners of our house. After living in the house for 2 years, we are so impressed with the quality and thought behind the home's new details. So we wanted to use the same company. Kristi worked quickly and smoothly with the city officials in Whitefish Bay to secure the permits. The work crew was a small group of responsible and talented people, whom we felt completely comfortable with in our home. We even left on vacation for a month with them working away! I had a few significant changes along the way which they stopped and incorporated, which was very impressive. I can't believe we didn't do the addition sooner -- we had put it off thinking it would just take longer, cost more, and turn into a nightmare like some stories we hear. Instead we have a lovely addition that feels like it was always part of the home. Kristi was a pleasure to work with, and I don't know how she runs the whole show, but she does! Thanks Amethyst!

Recent Review: I had called two companies for a estimate for some outside wood rot I had on my home. Gordon had called me that same day and actually due to my schedule made a point to meet me later that afternoon to look at the work. He was able to give us a couple of suggestions as far as the proper fix and scheduled work the next day. His crew arrived on time, were very polite and courteous and the work was finished professionally and in the budget and time frame Gordon had quoted. I'm very pleased with not only the work that was performed, but that I finally have found a contractor that does everything and that I trust. We will be contacting them in the summer for a deck build

Recent Review: Borgwardt construction did excellent work, they were also reasonably priced and easy to work with. We started out with just doing an addition, they were flexible when we added work from what was originally agreed to. We started off with just an addition done but because we found a contractor that we felt comfortable with we continued to add work to our original project. Jan always made us a priority throughout the time we worked with him. I would hire them again without hesitation.

Recent Review: We have a 1905 Quee Ann home in Wauwatosa. We recently rebuilt both of our chimneys which then needed copper flashing. I called Eric and he was great as usual. We set up a time for him to come over to do and estimate and the process was excellent. His estimate was very competitive with the other estimates we obtained. Community Building and Restoration had done some other work on our home that was great and so we went with them again. Eric coordinated the work with the Masonry Restoration, Inc. team and completed an outstanding job as expected in the timeframe we agreed on. Eric and his team of craftsmen at Community Building and Restoration are great to work with. If you want high quality work using traditional building materials, there is no one better.
