My backsplash is beautiful! Although my project was relatively simple, Mick’s attention to detail really makes it shine. He was able to work me in quickly and the price was very reasonable.

Esox Remodeling
2.0
We used Esox remodeling for installation of our kitchen tile backsplash. We found out about his company by looking for providers on Craig's List that performed tile work. First, I will give the positive feedback which convinced us to go with Esox Remodeling: 1) He has good hours of availability. 2) He was initially very responsive to phone calls. Now for the drawbacks: 1) After Rhothmen from Esox Remodeling left we attempted to install our outlet covers and realized there were notable gaps between the edge of the outlet cover and the backsplash on 3 of our 6 outlet covers. One of the gaps was up to 1/4" wide. We had to search for and purchase all new over-sized outlet covers to solve the problem - which were $5-$6 a piece. 2) Also when attempting to install the outlet covers we were unable to screw in 3 of the 6 outlet covers because the back splash tile blocked the screw hole for the outlet cover. We had to purchase a tile drill bit for $8.00 and drill into the tile ourselves to get the outlet covers installed. 3) There were two spots where the grout wasn't filled in completely - so there were holes in the grout in those spots. We had to touch-up the grout ourselves. 4) There is an area where the backsplash meets our window molding that is very uneven and you can see ridges from where the tile is covered by grout/caulk. 5) Rhothmen stated he would come back to fix the area to the left of the window at a later date. We paid him in full (which was our mistake). After we noticed the other issues with the outlet covers and grout, we attempted to contact him through phone and email and never heard back from him, until we stated we were going to provide a review on Angie's List. He then responded and said he would try to stop back out. However, when trying to setup the time for him to stop back out, he was again unresponsive to our multiple attempts to contact him. Overall, our major complaints are the attention to detail and poor professionalism based on his lack of responsiveness to resolve these issues.

Stone Concepts Llc.
5.0
This is our second project with Stone Concepts. The first was the major renovation of a bathroom which included complicated demolition, installation of underfloor heating, and intricate patterns of Travertine mosaic tile. Matt, of Stone Concepts, did all the work except for plumbing and electrical. That project took several weeks and was a stunning success. This latest project was much smaller in scope, the installation of a kitchen backsplash, and took only two days. Matt's quality of work and commitment to the project was identical in both instances. He means it when he says each job, regardless of size, gets his utmost attention. Matt has a great eye for design and can advise on all aspects of tile choices, colors, and placement. He is a pleasure to work with and makes sure his work environment is clean and safe at all times. I highly recommend Stone Concepts and would not hesitate to use this company again in the future. Many thanks to Matt for a job well done.

Felt Remodeling LLC

Tim came over promptly to give us an estimate, and we set an approximate date for the work, which we firmed up about 2 weeks in advance. He set the tiles one day and did the grout work the following morning, giving us the option to seal the grout lines ourselves 2 days later. He was prompt, personable and gave us suggestions and options for other upgrades to the kitchen, which we appreciated, especially the recommendation to ground the outlets over the counter for safety. He did a beautiful job. We are delighted with Tim Felt and in love with our new backsplash.

Fulmer Ceramic Tile, Marble and Stone
5.0
Couldn't be happier with Fulmer tile. Had some sticker shock after pricing out the local design stores. Fulmer tile advised us to purchase our own tile from whatever source we wanted and they would install. Total job with labor and materials came to about 1/4 of what the design stores quoted. Excellent quality work. Project took about 1 day with a few extra hours on the second day to caulk. I can't recommend Fulmer tile enough.

Bisbee's Flooring Center
2.0
The carpeting install went great. Taila at the store was very helpful with selecting options. It was installed on time and correctly. The backsplash, however, turned into the project from **** and we regret using Bisbee’s for that work. Even according to David, Bisbee’s owner, the backsplash should have been a simple project. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. First off, the installer showed up and was missing the adhesive & trim pieces and worse, had NO clue where the backsplash was going in the first place. As such, it was installed incorrectly and he ended up cutting the glass tile around a window opening so it looked very jagged. We were told by Bisbee’s that glass tile should only be cut as a last resort as it pulls off the colored backing on the tiles. The installer was also extremely unprofessional, requesting that my husband text him where the tile should be installed, complaining about how he was now delayed for other projects that day and giving unsolicited negative opinions on our tile and grout color choices. We knew the install wasn’t going as planned from the get-go and called our contact at the store several times that day to relay our concerns. I wish they would have sent someone out to double-check or told the installers to stop working instead of just reassuring us that it was being installed correctly. They could have saved themselves (and us) a lot of extra work had they listened to our concerns. David came out to look at the work and agreed it wasn’t done properly. He said he wanted to make it right so they’d have a different installer come out to tear out and reinstall the tile. Unfortunately, we had very different ideas on what “making it right” means. He said they would contact installers and be in touch. The next week I contacted the store to follow up and was told they still hadn’t heard back from installers, but they should know something in a few days. After those days passed, I called the store again and was told it would be a few more days before they knew. This went on a few more times. They never followed up with me. I was always the one calling for updates. Finally a whole MONTH after it was initially installed, they asked if the original installer could come back to fix the work. We agreed to that with the stipulation that David from Bisbee’s would be present while the re-work was being done. The morning of tear out/install came and David from Bisbee’s was nowhere to be found. I called the store when they opened and was told he was on his way. When I mentioned the installers had already been at our house for 1.5 hours, I was told they weren’t aware they were coming so early. Bisbee’s set up the install time and I have emails confirming that so I’m not sure why they were surprised that work was being done at that time. He finally arrived after all the tile was installed and, obviously, after we already had to explain how we wanted the work done. We aren’t tile experts (which is why we hired Bisbee’s in the first place) so David should have been there to manage the project like we agreed. Unfortunately, the lack of professionalism on the installers’ part continued and my husband overheard them talking behind my back and mocking me after I had instructed them on what needed to be corrected. We shouldn’t be disrespected like that in our own home and we shouldn't have had to deal with the installers in the first place. That's the whole reason David was supposed to oversee the tear out/re-install. They had to come back the following Monday to grout the tile (even though we were originally told it would be done later on the install day). They told us it would take 2 hours. Instead, they ended up running out of grout and were at our house for 4.5 hours (with 2 guys working). The backsplash does look great now but getting to that point was a painful process. Overall, customer service was AWFUL! I would not recommend them to anyone, which is unfortunate because we really liked working with them until it came to install time. They did end up giving us a credit (much less than what we requested) but that didn't even cover my husband's extra 1.5 days off work to stay home and babysit the installers, let alone compensate us for all the trouble. If anything goes wrong, it’s clear from our experience that Bisbee's lacks follow-through and will only reach a resolution on their own time. They certainly did not go out of their way to make it right.

Recent Review: Chris responded within a day to my query sent through his website. He stopped that day on the way home from another job to give me a quote. It compared favorably with other quotes I had and he was unfazed by the prospect of tiling the walls in an older house where nothing is level and nothing is square. He fit the work into his existing commitments - even coming over on a Saturday afternoon to prep the walls - and within a week, I had my new backsplash! He was a careful worker and clearly has the experience to make good decisions about compensating for my old house. He called to verify when he would arrive each of the three times he came. He cleaned up after himself - even washing my kitchen floor! Best of all the tile looks great!
