Reviews in Madison for Installing Gas Lines

Sheldon Plumbing Inc
5.0
We dealt with 3 or 4 people from Sheldon Plumbing. Everyone was very professional and courteous throughout the process. We had the main gas line plumbed (retrofitted) into our (existing) home as well as lines run for a future dryer and range. Their estimate was significantly less ($1000 compared to $2300 and $2600 from competitors) and more detailed. Upon completion, the actual cost of the project was spot on, 1 cent higher than the estimate. We will definitely be using Sheldon Plumbing for future projects as well as any (I hope none) emergencies we may have in the future.

Gas lines needed to be changed from half inch to 3/4 inch diameter. Existing gas line to the kitchen ran outside the house in copper pipe. That was to be replaced at the same time as gas line in the cellar. The estimate was made including the gas run to the kitchen. The installers decided they didn't have a clear way to run the new pipe inside the house. They said to call them when I remodeled and had the wall cavities exposed. When I tore off the plaster to do this they then broke there promise and refused to finish the quoted work.

We already had a gas line in the basement. We wanted to run that gas line upstairs so we could put a gas stove in the kitchen. He said he would do it, but it would cost more than he thought we should pay. He did not charge us a service charge. He has done all of our other plumbing for the last 20 years.

They could have better prices. The problem was the first hour and then they divide it afterwards. He was in my house for 15 minutes and I ended up paying for the whole hour. The quality of work was good. I had no problems with it. It took them a little while to come out.

Small hitch in additional component needed to merge two different gas lines, only reason I slightly downgraded them. Rating would be A- or B+ if this were allowed.

They are quick and it is easy to make an appointment. I had problems with my gas line sticking out too far; I called them to come and fix it but they won't unless they charge me.

Very well. Jim arrived at the scheduled time and had everything fixed in about an hour. We have used Oasen for many years and find them incredibly reliable, anxious to fix rather than replace and always friendly. I highly recommend them.

We bought a new house. I wanted the gas lines for the stove and the furnace inspected. While the estimator was here, he talked me into getting the new water softener I needed from them as well. They also up sold me from just the furnace inspection to their package deal that included inspection of the a/c, electrical and plumbing systems as well, along with discounts on work and 'priority service'. All and all I think they did good work. With the exception of the estimator guy not calling me back when he said he would, and a bizarre message on the answering machine of my old house house (at 7:20 am they called and said they needed a call back before they could dispatch the technicians). This was after I had confirmed the work the day before and gave them a cell number. They did show up on time.

Recent Review: We appreciated their professionalism and friendly service. Extra time was given to problem solve a new & unexpected plumbing issue in our downstairs bathroom during the service call. The two plumbers were at our house for at least a couple of hours, and we felt they were committed to their work. They were very easy to work with & we plan to hire them again in the future!

Recent Review: I was amazed at how my interaction with this company went. I called at 1:00 to ask if they could modify an existing natural gas line for my new BBQ - Gerald was out within the hour and the service was done within 20 minutes! Not only that, being a single woman - I asked him a myriad of plumbing questions about other items in my home and he was so forthcoming with information and advice. I've found a new plumber and I'll not only be using him for all my future needs, but will certainly tell my neighbors about this awesome company!
