Reviews in Madison to Install Cork Flooring

Eco-Friendly Flooring
5.0
Melissa was helpful and informative in showing products and helping us make a decision on the right product for our room. She was able to squeeze our relatively small project in between other big projects, which was awesome since we have a huge basement project ongoing. The installers were thorough and professional. Overheard: one installer to the other, "Don't rush it, take the time to do it right." Confidence gained. We would definitely use them again.

WAGNER FLOORING
5.0
Excellent. We found major cat urine damage throughout our newly purchased house (what a mess this problem turned out to be). We interviewed 5 contractors. Wagner had the expertise to do all aspects of our project. He was recommended by a flooring supplier and we checked his references. He worked hard to make sure we were happy with installation. Good resource because he is knowledgeable about different aspects of flooring (qualities, characteristics, choices, etc.). Quality of work was high--end product looked good. Offers a 2 year warrantee on his work. Subcontractors installed carpeting. Was here during entire project. Was flexible in that we wanted a green installation (low VOC, natural products) and most contractors in this area don't' have much experience with that. He did a number of tasks that weren't in the original spec without charging us. A few product-related problems came up including a major problem with the bamboo flooring--the staples were causing dimples in the floor surface. Mike found the problem early and worked with the distributor to get it fixed (They upgraded the product--in the end it was the manufacturers fault). He was good on getting most things done, although I'd wish for more timely communication on delays and schedule changes and he overlooked two details (that were fixed) but given the chaos and complexity of our project, we had a good experience.

Coyle Carpet One Floor & Home
5.0
It was wonderful. They had great service and great product. It was affordable. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. We are actually doing it in two phases: upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs is finished, and we are in the process of remodeling the downstairs. We walked into the showroom; they have a very knowledgeable staff. We were presented with quite a few options. We went to other places and we ended up going with Coyle Carpet. Even though the price was a little bit more expensive, the quality was there which the other companies that we looked at lacked. They also included cheap installation, which was still going of a premium. It was $47 for the entire house. They extended it from a different promotion. That saved us about $800 in installation cost. I have had other relatives go with Coyle; this is anything from fifteen years ago to close as two and a half. They were quick. We would definitely use them again. We are actually looking forward to quoting prices on cork floors or another hardwood for our basement.

WELLHOUSE FLOORING & DECORATING
1.0
Wellhouse installed flooring for multiple homes in my area. More than not had significant problems, some requiring whole floors to be ripped out and redone. On our floors, they did not meet manufacturer specifications for making floors level. Ridges with >1/4" clearance under level, with tolerance at no more than 1/8" per 10 feet. They did not follow manufacturer's requirements for an absolutely smooth surface, did not follow manufacturer's instructions for materials to use under floor. Originally denied their company sealed the gypcrete beneath, which would mean all the glue holding down the tiles would come up. Later then claimed to have done it. The floor is a soft tile, and shows ripples and bulges, which mar the beauty of the materials. The floor was $10.50 a square foot. They were required to seal the surface with 4 coats of urethane. They somehow missed a 6" x 1" strip in a doorway. I am doubtful that the same 6 inch strip in a traffic area was missed 4 times, and suspect they did not seal floors according to manufacturer requirements. Their installation has voided the company warantee on the materials. The rep from company that made the tile reviewed photos of the floor, and called it "unprofessional" and said that it should be replaced by "a qualified installer." Flooring installations in the majority of other houses I know they worked on had significant defects, including wrong size & color of tile. Whole floors had to be ripped up and redone. Their "fixes" for problems were worse than the problem, often. Debris was tiled over, despite manufacturer instructions to vacuum floor before laying the tiles. Their "solution" was to whack the places with debris with a mallet, reasoning it would smash the debris into the gypcrete. The tile is a soft, bendable material. It is a no-brainer that whacking a soft thing on top of a hard thing would of course damage the back side of the tile. They have agreed to replace some of the flooring, but not all. We are in negotiations now, and have chosen another type of flooring that is more "idiot proof." I have been told that instead of removing the baseboards to allow the 1/4" needed for a floating floor, they will just go up to the baseboards, then slap a quarter round on top of it. When thicker floors transitioned to thinner floors, they did not meet the ADA requirements. Some had an edge about 1" high, which would not allow ease of use for walkers are wheelchairs. Footprints were tracked from the sealed floor, across the ceramic tile. The ceramic tile is the wrong color.

Beautiful product. Good sales experience in showroom. Poor responsiveness & follow-up by sales. Great tile installer. Unpleasant cork installer did not want to be at work that day. Cork install was mostly good except at one of the thresholds. Somebody did come out and fix that.

H&R Carpets

So well. Shaw Flooring quality and the best installer did our job. Rene Fuentes did a great job in helping us through the sales process with in-home sample selections. We receive many praises for how well the flooring looks. We chose a waterproof, cork-backed luxury vinyl plank for the core of the entertainment room and bathroom. Then had the stairway carpeted. Beyond pleased with the workmanship and punctuality of the team.

I asked Andy for a quote for this job based solely on the reviews from this site. He was prompt in calling me back and in giving me an estimate on the work. From that point on, I found Andy to be exceptionally reliable and concerned that I was happy with the work that was being done. He kept in contact with me regarding the progress of the work, asked for clarification when needed and was generally very easy to work with. Above all, Andy does what he says he is going to do. He also knows his limitations and will not do things that are outside his expertise. Andy was respectful of my home (always being sure to clean up) and of my cat. I am very happy with his work, so happy, in fact, that I will likely get him to start the bathroom renovation (as soon as the budget allows).

The work took 3 months and was potentially very inconvenient, but we set up a workable kitchen in the basement and managed beautifully. Rick and his team always bent over backwards to accommodate any issues we had and kept the work area clean. I know we asked for some unorthodox features for our kitchen. For instance, I had to stress that I used a LOT of spices in my cooking and wanted an easy way to organize and access them. Rick's team's solution was brilliant (see photo). Also my idea for an appliance elevator built into the corner of the cabinets was something that neither Rick nor the cabinet builders (Auburn Ridge) had ever seen before. After agreeing to build my "smart waiter," everyone was so pleased by how it turned out that we even considered writing a patent for the device. Both Rick and Auburn Ridge carpenters made some excellent design recommendations and made it an unbelievably useful device (see photo). Building it did add several weeks to the work time, but I feel it was well worth it. We have been living with our dream kitchen for two years now and I am still over the moon at how beautiful it is and how well it works. Some of our choices turned out to have worked out even better than I had hoped. I've noticed how much less sore my feet get after several hours of cooking because of the cork floor. The island seems to have made the kitchen LESS crowded because 2 or more people don't get in each others way. Even though we only had space for a 3'x3' island, it turned out to provide an enormous, useable workspace that I can hardly believe I got along without.

Majestic Wood Floors Inc
5.0
Josh provided a very competitive estimate and peformed the work exactly as he stated during the estimate. This was a large resanding/refinishing job of a 8 year old maple hardwood floor. We also had Josh install a new maple hardwood floor into the living room which required the new floor to be integrated with the existing flooring. No one can tell the difference between the new flooring and the refinished flooring. Both floors look great. The overall job for both floors took about 5 days. We would use Josh again if needed.

Excellent. Hubie was very knowledgable and easy to work with in finding out that the wooden floors in the house were yellow birch and the new floor matches the old. The installers were a pleasure to have in our house and the new floor looks great.

Recent Review: We were so impressed by how hard the folks at KBS worked. They were dedicated to staying on our tight schedule and showed up on weekends, the 4th of July, and generally worked late. They were incredibly respectful of our space and and belongings and even helped move heavy furniture out of the way during the renovation. As happens with any major renovation, when we ran into snags Alberto and crew were up front about what happened and fixed the problem. It is clear that Alberto takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows in the final product. They have a fairly limited selection of cabinets, but that also means that they can offer them at reasonable prices. After a couple months of use, we're really happy with the quality. KBS was also very willing to let us mix and match materials we found elsewhere (faucets, hardware) with what they had in stock. Very easy to work with.

Recent Review: We worked with Fry Construction for about nine months since this was a large project. Jenn Breunig, a remodeling consultant , was our main contact person and was a great help to us. She fine-tuned our ideas to get what we wanted and was excellent in helping us choose cabinetry, shelving, flooring and color co-ordinating everything. We are very pleased with the quality of the work and would highly recommend Fry Construction for your needs. Sharon Bettinger, Plain, WI

Recent Review: Very well. We changed some things as we went and Curt was able to adjust to changes. he was reasonable and fair and never happy until everything was complete to our satisfaction. Recent Review: What began as a simple handyman repair of loose ceramic tile in a second floor bathroom in an old house grew to be replacement of entire floor and some shower and wall tile and underlayment due to invisible (to me) water damage. Andy did meticulous work, explaining each problem he uncovered and giving me options for types of repair. The bathroom looks better than new. The doors and windows close and lock correctly now. The furnace and softener discharge are now appropriately directed. An all-around excellent experience for an owner of an older home.

Recent Review: The service was great. It was really good. We thought the price was pretty competitive. We got some good quality floors.? We got nothing but compliments from people who came to see the place. Their responsiveness was fine. We had problem with a couple of tiles in the bathroom and they came and replaced with no charge. They were here when they said they would be. They were top rate.

Recent Review: Floor Coverings International owner, Hubie Durst, sold us new laminate flooring. Hubie is well organized and congenial. He wanted us to be happy with the project and responded well when we changed our minds about the pattern of laminate during the installation. He ordered the new flooring promptly and rescheduled as needed. Hubie communicates well and keeps his appointments. He is reachable at anytime. His installers removed our old floor and installed the new laminate flooring. The project was more complicated than anticipated with a difficult and extensive removal of the old tile and parquet floors. Jason, the installer, helped me with several minor projects and kept us informed when complications arose. His suggestions were helpful and informative. The installers were prompt, worked fast and cleaned up after themselves. The job was finished in less time than estimated and was done well. They had the proper tools to do a thorough and complete job. We have had similar projects in a previous home and know how to judge this experience. We are completely satisfied and would use Floor Coverings International for other flooring projects. We recommend them highly.d
