Had some problems, but they were eventually taken care of, hence the B rating, it should probably be lower, but they did their best to remedy. Want the details? It's a long story, but I'll try to summarize. The owner's son, Patrick, arrived early. Sharp kid, 25, who seems to know his stuff about carpet. Before I could get there, he was pitching my wife on how hard the job was going to be. Hours of grueling work to re-stretch two carpet areas. Due to that potential cost, I agreed to have 1 stretched and 1 replaced. It took him 20 min to determine the price to replace the carpet in 1 area (seriously) and 30 min to stretch the 1 area. To my surprise, he still wanted the $175 for the stretching job. Since it's what I agreed to, I reluctantly paid him. I also cut a check for the replacement area, $575 so he could order the materials; again strange process, but whatev. I get a call the next morning stating they could install on Thursday. I call him back, he couldn't answer, so I called the store to explain, I have a FUNERAL on Thursday and asked if Friday would work. They confirm with him that Friday at 11:00 is fine. While I am BURYING MY GRANDMOTHER on Thursday, I get call after call, assuming it is my work, I ignore; nope, it's Korfhage, they are at my house ready to install carpet I had re-scheduled for the next day. I didn't realize it was them till 1 hour after our scheduled time on Friday when I called to ask where they were. I was told "we tried to call you yesterday numerous times and you weren't home." Eventually, they get to the bottom of it, but ultimately, they couldn't install me on the day they had agreed due to internal scheduling issues, but got me scheduled and installed on Saturday. Inconvenient, but not the end of the world. Looking through all the "brag" paperwork, it suggested I call Doug who would LOVE to hear about my experience. So I call, tell him a little bit of the story, and he says, "can I call you back? I'm in a warehouse and can't hear too well." Sure. Little did I know I was calling the owner and I get a call back 30 min later from the owner's son Patrick. Now I'm in the awkward position of telling the guy that I feel ripped me off and scheduled improperly did just that. He takes no ownership in the scheduling issue blaming me (yes, me for not calling his cell more frequently) and the staff for not informing him more directly. He claimed the excessive charge for stretching was for insurance purposes. He reluctantly offered to give me $50 back. I suggested to give me $75 which would still pay him $200/hr (more than I pay my doctor) for stretching and $75 of profit on the new room (as agreed upon). Rhetorically he asks, "so you don't want us to make any profit?" Then passive aggressively agrees to the $75 credit stating, the customer is always right and it would be on my conscience. Blown away, do whatever, it's $75 not a million, just have someone come out to look at the seem. Doug, owner, father, calls me to schedule the inspection of the job and fix seem, apologizes for the experience thus far and ensures me he'll make it right. He arrives on time in professional dress. He inspected everything, even hammered down a tack strip on his hands and knees in his slacks. He listened, genuinely apologized profusely, and humbly said he would cut a $150 check for all the trouble. Although it was an overall bad experience, I can't give anyone less than a B when they go to such lengths to make it right.
