Upon moving into our new home, we noticed that all of the supply registers and adjacent walls had been blackened by the air that had come through over time. Additionally, we had seen the prior owner?s utility bills, and knew they were very high. An insulation contractor, upon seeing the attic, suggested that we might want to replace the ductwork in the attic instead of sealing it. We became concerned that we might have asbestos in the ducts, and had lived in the house for 3 weeks without daring to turn on the A/C. I received three referrals, but chose Banner Heating and Air Conditioning because I learned the owner, Abbey Borghei, has an engineering background and 30 years of experience in this field, in addition to a stellar reputation. I already had high expectations, but Abbey exceeded them because of his integrity, consulting skills, professionalism, and his attention to detail and quality. He personally supervises each job, and took the time to review the work with us after it was completed, showing us the new features and calling attention to any small compromises made, asking us was that acceptable or did we want them to take an alternative route. He made sure we understood what is required to maintain our systems and air quality, so that we avoid future problems. We thought we didn?t have an air filter, because there was nothing behind our return register except dirty plenum, but Abbey found it underneath the furnace, which helped explain why it had not been changed in a year. He moved it from that difficult-to-access place to a much more convenient location inside the return register. I had a thermostat from my prior home, something I had bought on Amazon that turned out not to be easy to install, and Abbey took the time to figure out how to make it work in our new home ? free of charge. Abbey is a good listener and took note of our priorities. He is one of those rare contractors who can place himself in the buyer?s shoes and present a comprehensive solution, making many suggestions consistent with our goals and priorities, and providing referrals to other contractors we might want to use. I learned a lot of valuable things about my house from Abbey, and now we have peace of mind, as well as cool air, when we turn on the A/C.
