Golden worked with us during the holidays when things were pretty hectic and awful. We had just purchased our house knowing there was foundation issues that needed to be resolved. They have a great team that communicated with us throughout the first few weeks and worked with the plumbers to get everything done in a timely manner. Definitely went above and beyond our expectations. Their crew was courteous and left the job site tidy after each day. We will definitely use Golden in the future!

I called Julian Construction based on their reviews. I had a couple estimates done for the work and Julian came in a bit lower than the other company. I decided to go with them since they did have the reviews to back up their work. I didn't make a mistake - they were great. The work was completed so quickly. Edgar, the team leader, was very responsive and was happy to explain everything they were working on including backing up the information with photos. I actually went under the house to check on the work daily and was impressed with how much they were able to accomplish so quickly. And they never left a mess behind when they left at the end of the day. My house is more solid now thanks to Julian Construction.

Great experience start to finish. So patient and responsive to my questions about estimate. Work crew was fabulous--on time, friendly, and super thorough. They left my property so clean, despite 5 days of foundation dust. Just a pleasure to work with them. Highly recommended.

Excellent company. Free estimate and very informative proposal. Completed job and passed inspection. Cleaned up afterwards. Had accident with sprinklers but had it fixed the next day. Thank you to everyone at The Foundation Works.

Dan Harris is very professional, knowledgeable, patient , helpful . He has the qualities of a Great Contractor, We will hire him again and will highly recommend to anyone. I would like to mention also that his staff, starting with the office manager are also wonderful. They remind you of all the appointments and update you with the work progress.

He arrived on time, started and completed the work within a few hours, and reduced the quoted estimate because the work did not require as many hours as estimated.

The company responded promptly to my request for a proposal. Matt Frey performed the (free) inspection. He arrived on schedule one morning and later in the day he provided a written proposal for repairs only, along with a recommendation and separate proposal for repairs and seismic retrofitting. The written proposal included explanations that were easily understood by a lay person (me), sort of "Foundations 101." Once I made a decision, the company scheduled the work. The men who performed the actual work reported on time and were professional and efficient. My daughter was on the property to coordinate in person and described them as "real gentlemen." A majority of the work was completed in the estimated time frame but some special parts were required and it was a couple more weeks before the job was completed and then inspected by the City. The company only required a 10% deposit on a $7K job, so the delay did not worry me. Once the project was completed, I was provided with photos of the completed project including lucid explanations, and documentation from the City of LA that retrofitting was performed to code specifications. It was a completely positive experience and I recommend this company highly and without reservation.

After an initial glitch in communication, this company was excellent all the way through the job, from the initial arrangements with Mayo in the office to the final inspection. Mayo scheduled the work as soon a possible. The crew arrived as scheduled. This difficult work, in shallow and dark crawlspace, was done quickly, thoroughly and with skill under the supervision of Juan, who kept me advised throughout the process. A person was sent to be available for the city inspector. And then a final inspection was done by Julian's inspector. Mayo was available and helpful at all times.

Got me through the lending bank's requirements. Met all the various requirements, from nit picky to major requirements and did it in record time and at a minimal price. I would not have this house now without his flexible and experienced assistance.

Sinai Construction was an absolute dream from start to finish. While I was in escrow I had two other foundation specialists look at the house and had very different reports and varying degrees of professionalism. Sinai blew me away at the estimate. The estimator showed up on time and went straight to work without pulling me in to do show and tell on every little crack he found. While he was under the house the owner of the company showed up to see how everything was going. Once the estimator finished, he answered all of my questions and said he would have the report the next morning. The report was delivered as promised and the price was higher than the other two estimates I had. However with regards to price, Sinai didn't give an estimated price, they provided a firm price. While the other reports came in slightly lower (roughly 10%), neither of them gave an actual total. The other firms provided approximate ranges so I didn't know what the total cost would be or what I would be getting into. Sinai's report was very detailed, every item was spelled out with its individual cost. I sat down with Gary, the owner with my other estimates and questioned why he found more things wrong with my foundation than the others. He was very patient and pulled out the 158 pictures the estimator took during his visit. Yes, 158 pictures! He showed me every single crack, pier, post, broken girder, etc. Everything that was wrong and needed repair, he proved it with pictures. And to all you skepics out there, I was looking to see if it was the same crack/pier taken at a different angle. It wasn't. I signed the contract immediately and had a start date in 10 days. The crew started two days early. They showed up every day on time, cleaned up after themselves every day and never left a mess. There were very quiet and didn't blast radios/music. They were super friendly. When it came time to leveling the floors, they were perfectionists and were honest on that they could try to do more in one spot, but it would cause even more residual damage and with the old houses like mine, they could only do so much. They also re-stuccoed the outside of the house. Another thing the other firms told me would be my responsibility. The day after they finished, the owner Gary called to tell me there is a serious drainage issue and told me to have my contractors give him a call and he would tell them what the problem is and how to fix. This is coming from a firm who specializes in drainage. Instead of trying to take the business away from the contractors, he is offering to tell them where the problems are. Talk about integrity. I went under the house to check out what $20,000 gets me, and the work was impecable. You could see the quality of the materials they used and the care given to every crack. I am so very pleased. Lastly, when I went in to give my final payment, I asked Gary for an estimate on the drainage since he already know my property inside and out and because I have plenty of other fun work for my contractors. Gary said no, he doesn't want to take work away from my contractors but if my contractors decide they dont want the work, he will be happy to estimate. It is very rare to find integrity in business these days, especially construction business. Gary and his firm deserve an A+, gold star, and my highest regard. If you have any construction needs, or escrow inspections, Sinai should be the first firm to call. You will not regret it.

"I had to repair my rental property in North Hollywood as the signs inside the home were pretty obvious we had foundation problems. No one really enjoys foundation repair to their home. And, yes, your ideas of what will happen are probably true. However, California Foundation Works will walk you through each step with sanity and confidence. Upon my first meeting with California Foundation Work, Brian came out and explained the details of the work with clarity and detail. He was honest about the change that was about to happen around the perimeter of my home. Hauling of dirt, tunneling under the house and the removal of landscaping were executed with efficiency and as little damage as possible. Brian will tell you that he is available at any time regarding questions or concerns. And, he is. He addressed concerns, arrived on the site and remained calm throughout the foundation work. The construction crew foremen, Juan, provided assurance and answered any questions on site. The workers were polite and courteous in my presence and as they worked outside of my home. When the leveling of the house started, juan provided a meticulous approach, although the raising of the house (about 7 inches!) was done a few weeks ago, the 45 piers are solid and the house has not presented with any new cracks or gaps. California Foundation Works will approach you as the most important client they have. Their work ethic and thorough professional approach set them apart from other companies. Highly recommended if you have the unfortunate necessity of foundation repair."

***Update*** A manager from Church services contacted me after I posted my negative review. He sent a technician out to perform the plumbing test on the correct unit at no additional charge. While I still believe their prices are a bit steep, I am pleased that Church services corrected the error and tested the correct unit. The manager was friendly and very accommodating, and offered to arrange the plumbing test with my tenant. I received the results of the plumbing test in a timely manner via email. I probably will not use them to repair the plumbing issues, however I am happy that they were professional and ended up doing the right thing. I contracted Church Services to repair the foundation issues at my duplex. A sales rep from Church recommended that I also have a plumbing test done under the unit that underwent foundation repairs for an additional cost of $275. I agreed to the test after the foundation repairs, and scheduled the company to come out again. After two weeks had passed, Church Services sent a technician to run the plumbing test. Unfortunately, the technician that went out, ran the test on the wrong unit of the duplex. He tested the unit that did not have foundation repairs completed even though the contract I signed with them was to test the unit that had the foundation work done. I, of course, asked them to test the correct unit after we realized the mistake, but Church Services is requesting an additional payment of $275 to test the unit I had previously contracted with them to test. I asked to speak to a manager regarding this issue, but was never given a return call, and the technician who performed the plumbing tests, stopped returning my emails. At the moment, I still have not heard back from anyone at Church regarding this error.

Gary Sinai is the best contractor we have ever had. He is thoughtful, fair, reliable, and properly priced. Best of all, he has an 'eye'. He gets it. He understands what needs to be done in the context and provides creative, well executed solutions. He has excellent, compulsive staff who clean up after themselves every day and treat the job and the client with respect. I just don't have enough good to say about him. I understand he is limiting his work to foundation work now. All of the above applies.
