I had three estimates for the re-roof. One of the contractors came while I was out, and my wife complained that they were rude. Another one made an enormous fuss about some frayed electrical insulation on the roof and wanted us to get an electrician out to repair and certify it - it was a trivial thing to fix and I did it myself. This left Vazquez. The quotes had all been very similar with Vazquez in the middle. I took the week off to keep an eye on the roof work and also to finish remodelling my bathroom. I found Vazquez and his workers very friendly and they disposed of my bathroom construction waste without charging me. We were also having solar panels installed, and Vazquez liaised with SolarCity so as to coordinate the work. After the removal of the old shingles, the building inspector came round and we all went up on the roof - Vazquez pointed out the things we wanted to do to prepare the roof and the inspector nodded in agreement. I think she knew Vazquez and had confidence in him so regarded this as a mere formality. There was additional preparation work which was charged by the hour, and the number of hours on the final bill was about what I expected. Most importantly, there have been no leaks during the recent rains.
