Recent Review: GNG Vinyl Fencing Review This review is for GNG Vinyl Fencing, the company that designed, fabricated, and installed a huge project at my 8-unit townhome condominium building in Brentwood in May 2016. The project was to replace all of the termite-infested wood around the building, which included the railings for 9 balconies with 9 dividers, 3 gates, approximately 100ft of semi-privacy railing with flower boxes on top of the entire length, 7 other flower boxes, and a 41ft long fascia piece on the front of the building. Let me preface this by saying that I research EVERYTHING before I make a purchase, from cars to toothbrushes, so I started this project spending days learning about all the different types and brands of vinyl (including their ingredients and grades) and every vinyl installer in Southern California and beyond. I ultimately decided that Duramax was the best quality and product for my application, and made appointments with four different installation companies for estimates. After meeting with the first three companies, one of which told me they could not handle the customization and scope of the project, the others of which did not sound confident at all (and kept emphasizing that there were limits to what was possible), I was close to tears at the thought that it could simply not be done in vinyl. I felt completely deflated and started to prepare myself mentally to have to re-commit to wood with all of the maintenance it entails and the susceptibility to termites, when Gary Karamanoukian from GNG Vinyl walked into my life. I kid you not, when I say that he was visibly EXCITED as soon as he saw what he would be dealing with. His face was lit up and he said, “This is awesome! It’s exactly what we love to do most.” Since he had the exact opposite reaction from the other companies, I looked at him like he was crazy and said, “You can do this?” He basically said he’d be honored to, started taking measurements, and left me with an estimate that was even less than all of the wood estimates I had gotten before I had even considered vinyl. He was a superhero, and I wanted to hug him - I KNEW he was the right person for this job! As far as I’m concerned, Gary is the Michelangelo of fencing/railing design. He blew me away with his amazing ideas to make the project better both aesthetically and practically, than it was before. He was clearly inspired by the challenge, and paid closer attention to the every minute detail than even I did, inventing many parts that had never been made before, which he was able to do because GNG fabricates the product themselves – talk about custom! He asked me to come visit his showroom/factory, so I could see and feel the actual product. I couldn’t believe how big the place was and how many examples they had of every product on a 1:1 scale – you can even walk on decks that they have built and lean on railings to see how sturdy they are. Gary demonstrated everything for me and we bounced ideas off of each other to come to even better decisions for his design. It was definitely worth the drive to Glendale! Then Gary shocked me further by coming back to Brentwood for a meeting to help me sell his design and the product to the rest of the owners of my building, many of whom were against going with vinyl. Over two hours, he basically gave us a class in vinyl, explained his design, showed us samples, and gave us a huge binder with photos, licenses, testimonials, and the answers to literally every possible question that could be asked, down to details about how they transport their product from the factory to the work site. Thorough is an understatement. Then he told us about the 6 month, 0% financing option that was available at the time. Needless to say, Gary killed it and everyone was won over. After triple checking measurements and filing all the financial papers, we scheduled installation, which was unusually complicated. Everything had to be done in a certain order. Gutters had to be removed by the gutter company, the old flower boxes had to be carefully cut off and remain intact to preserve all of the flowers (which would have cost a fortune to replace) so that the gardener, who was only available on Saturdays, could transplant them into the new vinyl flower boxes. Luckily, Gary was able to accommodate all of our specific parameters, and installation went like clockwork over just a few days. Art, the lead installer, is super nice, respectful, and very accommodating. Gary was either on site or available by phone throughout the entire process. He made adjustments that an owner requested without charging us more. To top it off, when we had an emergency, building-wide water heater failure and replacement in the middle of installation, that 0% financing saved us! I could not have had a better experience, and I would not hesitate to recommend GNG Vinyl Fencing, and especially Gary, for any major project like this.
