Called CMRS to see if they would do a small job and they were more than happy to come out and take a look and give us a quote. The price came in within our budget. They were great with communication and the job was done as promised.

great communication from day one until the end of the job martin showed up when he said he would completed work in one day once he left, i wasn't happy with the placement/position of one of the posts. i asked martin if he could come back and replace the post in a new location. not on;ly did martin say yes, but he also said there would be no additional charge! he came back as promised and put in another 2 hours work to replace post i'm having a lot of work done on my house (repainting, re-tiling, general repairs), and martin has been the most communicative and most reliable of everyone so far A+

HandyPro Handyman Service Inc

I called the company to arrange an estimate, the service representative contacted me the next day to arrange a time to go out to my property. I spoke with the service rep. via phone while he was on the premises; he was very thorough and provided detailed information as to what needed to be repaired. Digital pictures were provided via email as agreed for my evaluation; the work appears to be of good quality, and performed as specified. The overall all experience was good.

Beach City Stairs
4.0
I will start with the initial meeting at my house/design idea. The owner Kevin came to my home and I had a floor contractor working on my floors. When giving the quote he started talking to the floor contractor. Well somewhere in the conversation the floor contractor somehow offended Kevin (no idea how, while listening to the conversation I didn't hear anything that someone would be offended from) and the conversation became awkward and I felt uncomfortable in my own home. I still went ahead with Beach City Stairs because the quality looked very nice and I wanted good quality work. I was told Kevin was going to stop by while the work was being completed to make sure everything was going without a hitch. I'm all about quality and time management. I was told I was going to have two workers come in to complete my job and quot;one day installand quot; was the exact phrase given. What I received was one worker who took FOREVER with his work. I have pictures to prove that it took one whole day to do a quarter of the work to be completed. Its was more of a break here and a break there then a smoke break after each brake. I have to say if it were my business I wouldn't have this guy working for me. My thoughts on the worker were nice guy who knows how to do his job but he knows how to swindle his employer for more money by taking his time. Needless to say, my one day install took 3 days and one day of staining. Kevin didn't show up until my significant other corrected the worker on some holes (for the posts) and he called Kevin to come out. Kevin came out and started critiquing the floor guys work and not really focusing on the quality of his work. The final product (after 4 days) came out looking nice but I noticed that we had some rails that were loose and bottom squares. I let Kevin know and I am still waiting (its July right now) for him to come and fix the items.

Isaac's Ironworks Inc

Isaac was great, he came out the day I called to give me a quote. Once we decided to use Isaac for the work, he came the next day and he did all the measuring and talked me through my options. 2 weeks later his guys came and installed everything. They were on time, and very professional. It took about 4 hours and the railings look great, exactly what we expected! Very happy with the final result. I would hire them again and I would recommend them to friends as well. Thank you Isaac.

TOM RADU CONSTRUCTION
5.0
Tom was great. We made an appointment to meet and review the project. He provided me with his expertise on how he would go about building a reliable sturdy porch railing. We discussed the design. I have a craftsman bungalow home so I wanted to stay with that era to keep true to the original design of the house. We came up with some ideas and Tom build some samples for me to see the construction and design. Tom had provided me with a quote that was reasonable. I ended up updated the design slightly so the quote ended up increasing due to additional materials. The job took about 3 weeks. It look a little longer because we had some exterior painting going on at the same time and we also had Tom do some additional work that came up while we were painting the exterior of the house. Tom's work and craftsmanship is excellent. My house looks amazing. We get so many compliments on the design. I would recommend Tom for sure.

Front porch deck was replaced and painted. Front porch railings were repaired and painted. Looks really good. Back deck replaced with redwood with a clear coat , steps replaced with redwood as well and widened, rails repaired and painted. Beautiful transformation for our back yard. Also an interior gate repaired and painted along with replacement of some lattices used for privacy and deck The job came in ahead of schedule and within budget. MDRN Remodeling Co is run by two very attentive brothers and their crew very pleasant to work with. When we are ready for our next project we will not hesitate to call MDRN Remodeling Company.

SoCal Stairs

We are very pleased with the results. Kevin came over twice with samples and pictures to help us decide on the style details. He was very personable, friendly, and offered suggestions which we appreciated. Prior to ordering the materials, I changed my mind about the style of the posts which was no problem. The stair rail and handrails were installed in one day. To insure stability, the wall was opened up and the handrail connected to a 2 x 4. The following day, another worker was sent to stain the handrail to match our floor. They really did a custom job as they adjusted the stain in certain areas to achieve the look I wanted. I would highly recommend SoCal Stairs.

From day one, Rafi listened to my needs and patiently answered all of my questions. He never made me feel like he was in a rush to move on to his next job or client. He worked with us to design a solution that fit within our budget, without compromising quality. We are very pleased with the final result. Rafi's experience and knowledge in the industry truly set him apart from all of the rest. I look forward to our next project together. I trust Rafi and his team to take care of my home from Foundation to Roof.

All Star Construction
2.0
All Star was supposed to come in and perform the repair and replacement work on 5/14. The team showed up and was surprised that the house was two stories; they didn't have their ladders with them. They said they would be back in two weeks. We heard nothing from them during these two weeks. All Star showed up on 5/28 and seemed to have no idea what to do. I walked them around and showed them what needed to be repaired. It has been a battle to get any information from All Star as to what they are going to do. All Star got most of the work was done. The team ended up leaving some equipment and old wood. A guy named Zach came and got the ladders. I then asked Zach what they were going to do about the stucco work. He said they said would come back and do it. So far they haven't come back to finish the job. The quality of the work they performed is good, but they didn't finish the job. They are incredibly hard to get in touch with. They were two weeks late to do the fascia work, but they got the work done. They for the most part did a good job on what they did, but they haven't finished the work they were contracted to do. Update 6/11/13: Shortly after speaking to Eric at Angie?s List on 6-5-13, All Star Construction contracted me to schedule the stucco repair. I was told by Selina that Zach would be out between 11 AM and 1 PM on 6-6-13 to do the work. We agreed that he would call me before coming over. At approximately noon on 6-6-13, Zach called to say he was in Malibu (approximately 60 miles away across Los Angeles) and was on his way. At approximately 2 pm, he called again to tell me that the color we require was not a standard color on the La Habra Stucco website. He suggested that he try another stock color that looked similar. When he showed up with the color, it was way too dark. I called the La Habra Stucco people (which he could have done with the phone number from the website) and I ordered the color mix from a local distributor. This should have been done when I provided the information to Zach on 5-30-13. Now I am again in a holding pattern while the color is delivered to the local distributor (sometime next week) for ME to pick up. I am then supposed to call and reschedule another time to have the work attempted again. Final Disposition: On June 24, 2013, I received an email from Chelsea of Angie?s List stating: I heard from All Star Construction and they stated they weren?t familiar with your name or address and couldn?t locate your account. So, if you could please take a look at the information and questions below and provide me with answers I would greatly appreciate it. To which I responded that day: Good Morning: This is the company I have been dealing with. The latest in the continuing drama is that they are supposed to be out here again 7-2-13 between 9 and 11 AM to try to do the stucco again after I picked up the color last week. I also provided substantially more information to help identify the jobsite & work to be completed. This information also included a copy of the email that was sent to Terminix and All Star asking that the contract be canceled before the work even began due to the communication issues we were experiencing. Chelsea responded that she would get back to me when All Star responded. This never happened. Apparently when a company denies your existence, then Angie?s List will take that as the gospel truth leaving someone like me to go back to resolving this on my own. The mini-drama at the end was that on July 2, 2013, it did not look like Zach was going to come out after all as he called to say he was hung up on an emergency electrical issue in Beverly Hills (about 40 miles away). However, he did finally send another person called Jesse to complete the work.

SoCal Stairs

SoCal Stairs came into our house, removed the walled area previous homeowner had build to be a railing for the staircase area. Installed railing, post and handle. All the woodworking were done right in our front yard. The removal of the old railing and installation of new railing took about 8 hours. A week later, the finishing guys came and applied stain finishing to the wood post and handles. Everything looks very nice and the people that came to work in house are professional and diligent. We are very happy with the end result and would definitely recommend SoCal Stairs to our friends and anyone who have staircase work needs.

SoCal Stairs
5.0
I've gotta give these guys credit for being patient with me. We went back and forth on the size and style of the work a few times before we zeroed in on what we wanted. Andy at SoCal Stairs never lost his cool. They also worked with us on price and suggested ways in which we could keep the scope of work on budget (ie. going with different types of wood, ordering balusters from a lower priced vendor, etc). The only thing you have to be prepared to do is invest time at the point of install. Ours took 3 days, and all they did was the railing. Different crews came out each day to tackle a particular aspect of the job. 1 did removal of the old stuff, another did the railing install and staining, while another handled the metal work. Every one of those crews was professional and efficient, and very skilled in what they were doing. We couldn't be happier with the results and it really brought up the overall flow to our house as a transition point between floors. Thanks guys!

Recent Review: We were very impressed with the promptness and courtesy of the representative from Tom's Iron Works. He carefully did the necessary measurements and involved us in all the decisions. About two weeks later, the new railing was carefully installed with necessary adjustments being made by the installer. We were very pleased with the process and the end results. Neighbors have complimented the new railing.

Recent Review: Of all the tradespeople I have dealt with, Eran was probably the most professional and prompt. The work was performed and completed on-time and at a price which is very competitive. There was no complaint or resistance (or charge!) when we changed the style of the baseboard. We were concerned about dust from the refinish process, he said it was minimal and it was even cleaner than that. I recommend him.

Recent Review: Overall Vinyl Fence Depot did a great job. The estimate was very thorough and they even came back to confirm the original estimate and adjusted it down after re-reviewing the job. The person that did the estimate was professional, well spoken and courteous. The actual workers that did the work were timely, professional and did a great job. The only negative is their communication and follow up wasn't very good, though I expect them to improve in that area. I had to bug them for the written estimate and they forgot to notify me when they were coming to install. Still the overall work, quality and price, as well as the people they employ made me quickly forget all of that. I would not hesitate to use them again and plan on doing so, which would sum up my overall experience, communication aside. I cannot recommend them any higher.

Recent Review: We have hired Jury many times over the last 10 years for all sorts of projects across two houses. He has remodeled four bathrooms, including masterful tile work, plumbing, framing and more. He has built us two lovely pergolas, and most recently removed over 20 old windows and professionally installed brand new units. Great to work with, we will obviously be hiring him again in the future.

Recent Review: GNG Vinyl Fencing Review This review is for GNG Vinyl Fencing, the company that designed, fabricated, and installed a huge project at my 8-unit townhome condominium building in Brentwood in May 2016. The project was to replace all of the termite-infested wood around the building, which included the railings for 9 balconies with 9 dividers, 3 gates, approximately 100ft of semi-privacy railing with flower boxes on top of the entire length, 7 other flower boxes, and a 41ft long fascia piece on the front of the building. Let me preface this by saying that I research EVERYTHING before I make a purchase, from cars to toothbrushes, so I started this project spending days learning about all the different types and brands of vinyl (including their ingredients and grades) and every vinyl installer in Southern California and beyond. I ultimately decided that Duramax was the best quality and product for my application, and made appointments with four different installation companies for estimates. After meeting with the first three companies, one of which told me they could not handle the customization and scope of the project, the others of which did not sound confident at all (and kept emphasizing that there were limits to what was possible), I was close to tears at the thought that it could simply not be done in vinyl. I felt completely deflated and started to prepare myself mentally to have to re-commit to wood with all of the maintenance it entails and the susceptibility to termites, when Gary Karamanoukian from GNG Vinyl walked into my life. I kid you not, when I say that he was visibly EXCITED as soon as he saw what he would be dealing with. His face was lit up and he said, “This is awesome! It’s exactly what we love to do most.” Since he had the exact opposite reaction from the other companies, I looked at him like he was crazy and said, “You can do this?” He basically said he’d be honored to, started taking measurements, and left me with an estimate that was even less than all of the wood estimates I had gotten before I had even considered vinyl. He was a superhero, and I wanted to hug him - I KNEW he was the right person for this job! As far as I’m concerned, Gary is the Michelangelo of fencing/railing design. He blew me away with his amazing ideas to make the project better both aesthetically and practically, than it was before. He was clearly inspired by the challenge, and paid closer attention to the every minute detail than even I did, inventing many parts that had never been made before, which he was able to do because GNG fabricates the product themselves – talk about custom! He asked me to come visit his showroom/factory, so I could see and feel the actual product. I couldn’t believe how big the place was and how many examples they had of every product on a 1:1 scale – you can even walk on decks that they have built and lean on railings to see how sturdy they are. Gary demonstrated everything for me and we bounced ideas off of each other to come to even better decisions for his design. It was definitely worth the drive to Glendale! Then Gary shocked me further by coming back to Brentwood for a meeting to help me sell his design and the product to the rest of the owners of my building, many of whom were against going with vinyl. Over two hours, he basically gave us a class in vinyl, explained his design, showed us samples, and gave us a huge binder with photos, licenses, testimonials, and the answers to literally every possible question that could be asked, down to details about how they transport their product from the factory to the work site. Thorough is an understatement. Then he told us about the 6 month, 0% financing option that was available at the time. Needless to say, Gary killed it and everyone was won over. After triple checking measurements and filing all the financial papers, we scheduled installation, which was unusually complicated. Everything had to be done in a certain order. Gutters had to be removed by the gutter company, the old flower boxes had to be carefully cut off and remain intact to preserve all of the flowers (which would have cost a fortune to replace) so that the gardener, who was only available on Saturdays, could transplant them into the new vinyl flower boxes. Luckily, Gary was able to accommodate all of our specific parameters, and installation went like clockwork over just a few days. Art, the lead installer, is super nice, respectful, and very accommodating. Gary was either on site or available by phone throughout the entire process. He made adjustments that an owner requested without charging us more. To top it off, when we had an emergency, building-wide water heater failure and replacement in the middle of installation, that 0% financing saved us! I could not have had a better experience, and I would not hesitate to recommend GNG Vinyl Fencing, and especially Gary, for any major project like this.

Recent Review: We were so happy we went with bh remodeling. We did a remodel when we first moved to our home and its was a headache (took 2x as long as promised and was a very torturous process). When we had our first meeting with BH we were very clear on timeframes, what could be done and what we shouldn't be doing. Not only was the work delivered before the timeframe, the quality and craftsmanship of all the details past my expectations. The process was stress free and even when I wanted to make last minute changes, BH worked with me to make sure all the decisions I made I was comfortable and sure of. We have one more phase to do on our home and once we can we have already consulted on the project we will continue with their service. I think we will be able to do it sooner rather than later since the price was very fair, enough to allow us to continue improving our home. We cannot thank you enough for all your patience, hard work and time consideration to our family needs. No other company has been able to do what you have done for us. I feel safe, happy and BH haa made this experience actually enjoyable (not one arguement with the husband)!!!!! Its a win for everyone!!

Recent Review: Initially Excel was hired to fix dry rot per their ad, but the price kept escalating as the scope of needed and recommended repairs increased. Because it is often difficult to know what repairs are necessary until the dry rot is fully exposed and investigated, some escalation could be expected, but in our case the final price was triple the original estimate. A key reason for this increase was the cost of replacing the old circuit box, which blew while the contractor was running their power equipment. On the plus side, the quality of Excel's work was excellent and they did deliver fully on their promises, and they were very honest and responsive to our requests. By continuing to follow up, well after the work was completed, to remind DWP to install the new electric meter, they went above and beyond the call of duty. The sticker shock has now worn off and we intend to call Excel again on our future home repair and improvement projects.

Recent Review: Mike came to our house last year and gave us a quote for a wall topper and slatted 11 x 20 vinyl patio cover. We decided to put it off until now. We went back to the showroom and talked to Alex (very nice gentleman). We made an appointment for Mike to come back out. He was punctual and very nice, also. We showed him last year's quote, and he agreed to accept it. We knew there would be added costs for engineered drawings and permits plus lights. The price was competitive. Everything went fairly well until we asked him for a couple of references, people we could actually speak to and see the finished product. (Last year he gave us references, but they were all commercial properties.) He was not happy about that at all, but he finally agreed. This situation didn't sit well with us. He said he wouldn't be able to get that to us until the end of the week--we received it the following week with an apology for being late. We received a quote for the same work from another vinyl company, and he gave us several past client references in our city within a couple of hours, and I was able to speak with a happy client. Unfortunately, each of the three vinyl companies we received quotes from told us three different procedures on how they were going to attach the patio cover to the house/roof. At this point we were so confused that we decided to go with Patios by B and B (aluminum patio cover and vinyl wall topper), whom we had received a quote previously. What a wonderful experience with Patios by B and B--scheduled to start in two weeks

Recent Review: George is a great designer to work with. He understood exactly what I was looking for in my front door, gates, and balcony railing designs. The initial product was kind of rough on the welding areas. I had to have them to grind the welding areas to improve the over finish product. Unfortunately they already zinc coated the gates so they just re painted the grind section. I had hope they would have re zinc coated the gate since this is there mistake. The installation went accordingly except the worker speaks little English and they need to be more carefully on installing the product. They made a lot of small scratches on my gates but they touched up the problem areas when they were finish with the project. However I notice some areas that needs to be touched up after they left since it dark by they they finish the work. Luckily they provided me with some touch up paint. I would suggest going to the factory to inspect there work in progress since it highly recommended by George. Make sure you inspect the work in details before they come and install the product to make it a lot smoother process. When I visited the factory I had found couple of problem areas that needs to be rework. George had assured me that they have address the poor welding quality and this kinds of issue should not happen again. If you are thinking about a new door make sure you have someone who can do the finishing work since they don't. Other than that the product seems to be superior to other local iron doors manufacturer since I already visited 2 other manufacturers.

What do customers in Los Angeles say about Install Porch Railings?

This experience with Finyl Vinyl was absolutely fabulous. We located Finyl Vinyl through Angie's List, phone contacted them directly and stopped by their Showroom to see the actual products. Finyl Vinyl manufactures their own vinyl products locally (Huntington Beach, CA). We were very impressed with the knowledgeable and professional employees at Finyl Vinyl. An appointment was set for measuring and was kept promptly by Mike. A diagram was made, contract was written and pricing was specified (with Angie's List discount and Senior Discount) for the manufacture and installation of vinyl front porch railings. It was specified that manufacture would take about 5-6 weeks (no problem). Leslie called several times during the manufacturing process with updates. Leslie then called and set an installation appointment. Carlos (installer) arrived early, introduced & identified himself, explained everything that he was going to do and promptly began work. Carlos is very friendly, courteous, professional, knowledgeable and definitely a credit to this company. We are extremely pleased with the product, the installation and the end result of our new front porch railings. A big "thank you" goes out to Don Barlow (Owner) and his entire, fantastic Finyl Vinyl team. We will absolutely recommend Finyl Vinyl to everyone that inquires as to "who did your vinyl front porch railings?"
