BOB'S HANDYMAN & REPAIR

Bob and his assistant Martin did a great job getting everything on our kitchen remodeling list done! First off, they are very friendly, and they were right on time. His truck has all the tools and parts he needs to get the job done. I did need a new faucet, but he picked it up during his lunch hour so I did not get charged for his travel time. They installed a new kitchen faucet with all new plumbing below. He installed a new garbage disposal and gave me advice about whether or not to have an overflow valve. He hooked up our dishwasher. He hooked up our range on our new granite countertops. The hole in the granite was a little big so Bob added some wood to make it fit snuggly. He installed a new faucet in the laundry room. He repaired a loose faucet in the bathroom. He fixed the phone plug. Martin changed out 10 electrical outlets, some to improve the look of the kitchen and to fix some that were no longer working. Bob is very knowledgeable and gave us honest advice about everything we asked him. While Bob was here working, my husband was trying to make our cable work better and Bob gave him some good ideas about how to set things up to work better. Bob and Martin worked quickly ? I was amazed at how much they got done! They left everything clean. I?ve already started a list of things for him to do the next time he comes out. I would recommend him highly!

The work went well, and came out as John had estimated. The installation was a little rough, as there was very little room under the sink for the new faucet hardware. John was able to to complete a fine installation with a little chisel work, and we love our new faucet.

Angie refund number: 140620-001319 Have leaky faucets in bathroom, Nick Haas came out and said I needed new faucets, I did not have new faucets and I asked if he had some on his truck, he did not. Said that since he did not fix my problem he would have Angie's list refund the charge of $79.00. I would definitely use Professional plumbing in the future, when I can afford new faucets. I think he was very honest and told me the problem right away, very nice and kind man.

I had him do the roto rooting job on the kitchen sink, and it works fine, though $145 seems high. The problem I have with them is that he quoted us at least $325 each to install faucets in our new bathroom countertops, saying that that was higher than normal because there was a problem with the pipes under the sink that would make the connection harder than usual. This sounded fishy and very expensive, so I had another plumber come in to check it out. He quoted me $195 and got it done quickly and easily, having found no connection problems at all. Whether this was simple incompetence on Castle Plumbing's part, or, as I suspect, shady business practices, I can't recommend them to anyone again.

Ed came out after I called him because my kitchen faucet was loose. He fixed that and noticed that my drain backup was improperly hooked up and fixed that too. We discussed upgrading our flood lights in our kitchen so he picked them up and installed them a week later. Always on time, friendly and efficient.

Tony's Plumbing, Inc.

I wish I could write a quick positive review but I can’t. I first saw Tony’s Plumbing on Angie’s List with a few good reviews so I decided to let the “pros” work on my new house since plumbing is not my strong suit. Tony came out after I called and looked around the place and said his guys would switch out some faucets and install my washer and dryer. I thought it would be an easy job but I figured since this house was older there might be some issues. I was right! The guys who came were very polite. My only complaint was that they installed a new faucet that I purchased into the bathroom and the lever to close the drain didn’t work. After they finished the first day, they got two of the broken showers functioning and had finished with the washer/dryer install. My girlfriend was so excited to finally shower in our bathroom (as only one shower was functioning when we moved in). When she was done, my son came running out of another bathroom to tell me that the toilet wouldn’t flush and was about to overflow. When I checked that bathroom and the others, they had all backed up into the toilets and showers! I called Tony immediately to tell him what was going on and he was immediately defensive, telling me how that wasn’t THEIR fault. I told him that I called to ask for help, not to accuse them of any wrong-doing!? He said that he’d be able to possibly send guys in the morning. I told him that my kids and I needed to shower and use the toilet (as it was only 6pm) and he said there was nothing he could do. So I said “can you at least refer me to SOMEONE that CAN help??” and he said “I don’t know?? Try Roto-Rooter or someone like that BUT they’re gonna charge you a lot… OR you can wait until the morning.” The advice wasn’t very helpful so with the help of a friend I was snaking my line with a Home Depot rental until 10:30pm. Ugh. A couple days later the guys showed up to finish the work (installing the kitchen faucet and checking up on the washer). They had asked us to test the washer/dryer after they left last time and we told them it flooded the entire wash room and drained into my pool. They said that the drain was probably sealed shut and that I may have to dig up my bedroom to get a new line in. I was thrilled as you could imagine. However there was an old drain for a sink in the wash room and they tapped into that line to get the washer hooked up to drain properly. Thank god for that! (However, if they had checked the two drains prior to installing the first one it would have saved me a boatload of money in labor). Anyway, when they installed my kitchen faucet I asked the guys to throw a bead of caulk around the faucet and sink (since they’re the pros) and they said no problem. When they left, the washer was working great and the kitchen was done but they didn’t throw the caulk in. So my realtor had asked me how things were going and he mentioned that he knew someone at Tony’s Plumbing. I mentioned the few issues and he called his buddy John and John called me back. He came out and corrected bathroom faucet by telling me that the old sink needed to be drilled out in order to make the latch work. Shouldn’t that have been done initially anyway?? He also said that they don’t caulk around the kitchen sink anymore because there’s a gasket underneath. I said that’s fine but I asked for caulk and didn’t get it. He said they don’t do that. Why wouldn’t they simply caulk around my sink if I ask? So anyway, he leaves and drops off an envelope with the invoice which sat on my counter for a couple days until I opened it and was shocked at the $3200+ bill! The guys were nice and all but I thought it was a big excessive. Almost $900 in parts and it wasn’t itemized? (I purchased all of the faucets myself at Home Depot?!) So I have been busy at work and I decided to wait until my next paycheck to send them a check. No biggie right?? WRONG. Mandy from Tony’s Plumbing started calling my cell phone and work number the following week looking for payment. I was in a meeting when “Walter, Tony’s Plumbing is on line 3” was announced over the intercom. That was odd. Anyway I was going to call her back the following day when I had a chance to give her a credit card instead to be done with this. Later that afternoon/evening there’s a knock at my door and THERE’S TONY. I said hi and we shook hands and he said he was there to pick up a check for the job. I couldn’t believe he was at my door to collect?! I said I had heard from Mandy and was going to call back. I asked if he took credit cards and he said that was would charge me an additional 3+%. I said fine then I’ll send a check and he said he wasn’t leaving without payment. (I had the strange feeling that my kneecaps would be broken if I didn’t write a check.) So I told him I’d pay him but I wasn’t entirely pleased with the work and price. He pointed out how John came out and didn’t charge me for looking down my drain with a camera to show me roots. Somehow I feel that was covered in this $3000 invoice SOMEWHERE. Anyway, I wrote him the check and asked him to hold it until next Friday when I got paid. This was yesterday so we shall see if he honors that request. To put it into perspective, they did the job on the 6th and 8th of July and John came out on the 11th or 12th to make corrections and drop off the invoice. The muscle came to collect on the 21st, not even two weeks out. Overall the guys who did the work were nice but this has certainly been a less than pleasurable experience. The washer/dryer work fine but the finishing work left much to be desired for this price.

Business Description: Waterstone Faucets was started in 1999 by its founder and president Chris Kuran. At its inception the company primarily provided top quality parts and finished components to large filtration manufacturers that made and sold drinking water systems. Recognizing a niche in the filtration faucet market, Chris decided to change course in 2002. Waterstone then began production of its own line of American Made, decorative filtration faucets. Using only the best materials and finishes, Waterstone’s new faucets matched the higher end kitchen faucets that were being sold for designer kitchens. By 2005, the program was a huge success, and the dealers began requesting other niche products. In typical fashion, Waterstone started from the ground up and designed, developed and engineered a full line of Kitchen Faucet products and accessories to match its filtration faucets.

Recent Review: I have used Litten Plumbing several times and have been very pleased with their service. This time, I had several tasks for Dave. I needed replacements of a water shutoff angle stop valve, a bath faucet (customer supplied), and a faucet water supply line. I also asked Dave to install a water heater brace (customer supplied). The work was accomplished quickly and professionally, to my complete satisfaction. Without being asked, Dave recaulked the sink where the new faucet was installed which improved its looks.
