Took several tries before handyman Dave could get to my house. He rescheduled several times due to a job he was on taking longer than expected. He kept trying to get me to let a "Simon" come and do my job, but when Simon called his accent was so heavy I couldn't understand him. I told Dave that I would prefer he come and several weeks later we were able to coordinate schedules. Once at my house he did a good job of demo and reframing, though he did not take the time to cover up any of my furniture or electronics. I finally asked him to at least cover my TV stuff and he did. He left a dusty mess for me to clean up when he was gone. I knew supplies were extra, and he went to Home Depot to buy the drywall and wood he needed. He gave me the receipt and I paid him $50 for materials. In looking at receipt later, I found he bought a pound of drywall screws for $10 of which he maybe used 8 or 10. I'm sure he could have bought a small package. He left about an hour early (I had 8 hours in my Big Deal) as the mud had to dry and he couldn't do anymore. Said he would come back the next day and finish up for an extra $75, but cancelled, then scheduled for following day and cancelled, then scheduled for Sunday but then got a call from Simon, saying he would come on Saturday to finish the job, but it would cost $100. At that point I just wanted it finished so I said ok. On Saturday, a non-English speaking person (not Simon) showed up. He and another person with better English finished the job, never did see Simon, who called later to check it was done. I'm just glad it's over with and completed. I felt that Dave should not have done a Big Deal if he didn't have the time to do the job. The work done was adequate, but the runaround was frustrating. Will not use him again.
