After agreeing to work for a flat fee, Brian worked for just over a day and asked that he be paid daily instead even tho he had agreed to a flat fee. Since he was extremely slow in his work, I told him that he needed to finish the job based on a flat fee as previously agreed. He stormed off the job, and stole both materials and tools right in front of the homeowner and her son. Brian advised that his actions will result in criminal charges since the materials/tools he stole amount more than $500 and is considered a class C Felony. The case is pending. He had a professional website set up with sample jobs and seemingly legitimate references so I fell for it. I'm hoping this posting saves someone else the grief that we went thru. I will try to update this posting after the criminal charges have officially been filed and there is some resolution in the matter For anyone thinking of using this contractor and questioning the authenticiy of my review, please feel free to contact the LAPD Foothill Area Detective Division and ask for Detective T. Adams and reference case DR#131616664. Mr. Weintraub did return the stolen items about a week later, and only after being contacted by LAPD's burglary division. I have decided not to drop the criminal complaint against him in an effort to make sure that he may perhaps think twice next time before victimizing his next would be client. It is now Dec 2, 2013 and I will update on the status of the criminal charges as soon as there is a development in the case. In the meanwhile feel free to contact LAPD and reference the above case number, since I noticed that he had responded claiming that this never happened.
