Contacted company to set up an appt. We settled on a time and date. I took off work that day to be home for this appt. He did not show up. Attempted to contact him through voice mail and text messages with no response.

Structural engineer was asked to make site visit of home to inspect basement walls for structural defects. He was prompt in responding and making the inspection and delivering the report.

It was difficult to find a structural engineer who would look at a small residential property. He wrote me a nice, detailed report and it turned out to be less than expected. He came out a week after I called, and he sent me the final report a week after he came out.

Good: He explained why I did not need the foundation repairs a foundation repair company said I needed which was quoted at $16000

Matthew came right out the next day and sent text messages to keep me in the loop. He was willing to wait until closing to get paid also. I would definitely use his services in the future.

I met Kevin at the property and he took measurements and photographs. He also described the typical construction sequence. His contract was for $95 per hour including travel time. Because it was impossible to determine if addition footers had been installed below the wall in question, Kevin indicated that he would calculate the load on the foundation to determine if there was any reason to be concerned. He also considered the fact that the house had been standing for 12 years.

As a result of an inspection demand when selling our home, we needed to quickly hire a structural engineer. It was a holiday weekend and we were under a tight timetable. I went to Angie's List and saw great reviews for Kevin at this company. Kevin came out and did an extremely thorough inspection, followed by a thorough report. He is a pleasant, knowledgeable professional. I would highly recommend Kevin and his company to you.

All good. Never used a structural engineer before, but seemed to do what he was paid to do. I did expect him to go into the crawl space to determine if he could see why house is leaning, but he didn't; just attic. Gave me a suggestion if I wanted to add support, but it wasn't really necessary.

He failed miserably on both. He took MONTHS to get back to us on both jobs (should have taken 2-4 weeks, it was 3-5 months). The survey he finally gave us after all that waiting was wrong. It was off by 12 and half feet! That's a lot. He claims it was because the lot lines on the street changed from one section to the next, which is probably true, but the fact is he wasn't careful enough to figure that out. We figured it out and then he groused about having to redo it. We still haven't received the correct survey. On the structural engineering job we paid him up front for some work, he took months to do it, then only gave us partial answers, nothing we could build from, and then he said he needed more money to do what we had a contract saying he would do for the original amount! At best, he's bad at his job and VERY unprofessional, at worst he's a crook and a con man. Either way, stay far far away. There are much better surveyors and engineers out there. You'll be disappointed if you hire him.

I found the company through Angie's list. I called in and explained our needs. I was able to talk and consult with Scott at my convenient time (after normal working hours on Friday) with a short notice. I felt sorry about that while the people were really nice. Before the appointment I sent a list of questions to Scott of our concerns about the issue. During the one hour consultation, Scott was very well prepared about every question we have and gave a very detailed and clear technical explanation with a lot of patience. He printed out some graphs and drew some by himself to help me understand the whole construction process. I left the office knowing exactly what we need to do. It's not a big money business for them at all. But they provide the best service and expertise I can imagine.

Went very well. Kevin was able to come out on short notice, and was on time. He was professional and thorough in performing the review, and was very good at communicating exactly what was going on structurally and why. Ultimately he was able to conclude that the "issues" noted by the inspector were cosmetic flaws only, were to be expected, and had no impact on the structural integrity of the area. He issued a very detailed report in a timely manner, which was able to help us reassure the prospective buyers. I would definitely recommend Kevin if you have a need for a structural engineer.

Matt is awesome !! He inspected my home, and gave me advice on my concerns. He told me if I needed an okay in the future, he would write a letter. I wanted someone who knew what he was doing, was educated (Masters degree in structural engineering), pleasant, easy to talk to, and thorough. If you want a great inspection, Matt is the person to go to. I don't trust a lot of these people who take a crash course in home inspections off of a CD, and then charge mucho bucks.

Matt came over to my house which was built in 1929. It had a hump in the floor due to settlement over an I-beam and the retaining wall near the driveway had shifted. The house was for sale and I needed a professional to confirm what I knew. He put his report in writing which I then passed on to my realtor. He lives in a slightly older house a few blocks away and is very familiar with the issues of older residences. He explained that my house was experiencing something not unusual for a house that age and that if there was further movement, it would not happen suddenly and disasterously.

We had a pre-inspection done on our house and decided to fix a few of the bigger issues before putting it on the market. Indiana Residential/Kelly Latimore were referred to us by the inspector. I sent Kelly our pre-inspection via email and told him what we wanted fixed. He quoted everything I asked in a few days. We ended up only using them for a couple things at the time. We usually do our own work around the house, so the initial estimates seemed a little high. After having them do the work, we know that it is all worth it. The invoice ended up coming in a little below estimate. The guy they sent out to do the work was on time, professional and communicated the solutions to the work very well. A few weeks later, we decided to do some more work that required jacking up the floor and sistering some joists to reinforce the fireplace header in the living room. Again, I contacted Kelly to get an estimate and a few days later, IR called to schedule a time to do the work. On the day the work was scheduled two men showed up on time and got all of the work done in the morning. The hearth looks great and the work looks good. We love these guys. They are so easy to work with, are competent and professional and do good work. You can't go wrong. We will be calling them for any big projects we can't do ourselves in the future.

Was polite, easy to understand. $150 per hour (including his travel time & the time it took to prepare a written summary with problem & what was needed to fix & pictures of problem.) Per hour charge included taking me back down in crawl space to show me problems per my request -- so he was here a little longer than he would have been.

Recent Review: Gary understood our concerns and tastes from the beginning and used only top quality materials and subcontractors. It was important to us that the new kitchen blend in seamlessly with the rest of the house, and the end product accomplished this well. Gary was very conscientious about the details - down to having all the trim custom milled to exactly match the other rooms. He was very hands-on with our project, with almost all of the carpentry and construction done by himself and one other carpenter (Kevin). He called in experts when needed to ensure the structural engineering was correct. Although Gary did not do the kitchen design, he pointed us to an excellent cabinet design company who made sue that everything was exactly what we wanted. After several months since completion, we still have not found anything that we would change. Overall, it was an excellent experience, but it did take much longer and cost more than originally planned. However, I must acknowledge that some of the additional time and money was due to unforeseen issues and changes that we requested.

Recent Review: I have never seen anyone work so hard to give me what I wanted and needed. Their craftsmanship is excellent and required no follow-up. I have had many other businesses work for me but never had such personalized service. There were two small things needing fixed that were not on our project list and they were repaired without any charge. It is so nice to see someone you can trust and who you know has your best interest in mind.
