Our house was built in ’71, and the cabinets were original, and stained to a dark, walnut color. We wanted a new, lighter color look for our kitchen cabinets and ended up contacting 4 contractors for proposals. We opted to go with Pioneer Kitchens (Tom Jeffers) based on their presentation, cost and references. We were not disappointed. The work was done over 2 days, and we absolutely love the finished product. What they did was to: a) remove the existing cabinet doors and drawers and replace with new solid maple doors, and new drawers with maple fronts; b) refaced the existing cabinet frames, sides and undersides with matching ¼” sliced maple facing; c) install a new maple valance above the sink area; d) install decorative molding for the backside of our cabinet peninsula; e) replace the existing chair rail in the dinette area with a matching maple rail; and f) provide new handles along with concealed soft close hinges for the doors. The workers were very courteous and professional, and cleaned up thoroughly each day. And Tom Jeffers was excellent in answering all our questions prior to the work. And the fact that they required no down payment – and full payment only after we were satisfied with the work – was an additional plus. Would highly recommend them for this kind of work.
