Their team was excellent and even had their expert wiring tech to come out to ensure that the complicated wiring was done correctly. They took the time to show me how to use the Wi Fi thermostat.

The company servicemen arrived at the scheduled time to evaluate a 4 foot section of duct work that was rusted due to a faulty whole house humidifier. Upon inspection of the duct work, they determined that only a 4 foot section needed replacement and suggested that I not replace the humidifier with the same type of unit originally installed (I have hardwood floors so a humidifier is a must). Instead, it was suggested that the newer steam humidifier would not cause the duct damage the older unit caused. I received a call within a couple of hours from the service department with a price for the duct work and humidifier which I accepted and the work was performed the next day. The professionalism and courtesy of the entire Mitchell Heating & Air staff made my experience quite easy and enjoyable. I would certainly recommend this company to anyone requiring heating and air service.

The date of November 1 is approximate. I called EANES HVAC to have a new humidifier added to the house. I don't remember the tech's name. He showed up 5 minutes early for a 12:30 appointment. My wife talked with him. He seemed agitated that I was not there 5 minutes early. He said he had to be in Winston for an estimate at 1:00pm and he didn't have much time. This told me he was already not taking my job seriously. He scheduled another appointment in Winston very close to mine. When I arrived at 12:27pm, I told him I wanted a Aprilaire Bypass humidifier as the primary house humidifier and a Skuttle steam humidifier as a secondary humidifier. The controls and operation of both were completely separate. The Skuttle was already installed but was not wired correctly. He threw his hands up in the air and said he could not help me. Even when pressed, he refused to explain why he could not help me. I can certainly understand if someone decides not to work for me. I totally get that. No problem. But to not even give me an explaination, that really p***** me off. I called the guy's boss, someone named "John". He waited three(3) hours until 5:15pm then decided to call me at my work number, after I went home for the day. Dissed again! I am not sure why EANES has such high Angie's List ratings. My guess is they have family and friends give BS ratings. I was less than thrilled. Be wary.

Central Carolina Air Conditioning

We were contracted with Central Carolina for 9 years. In the summer of 2004 (6th year of contract) we called to report a buzzing noise from the attic. A day or 2 later, they replaced a transformer in the attic unit. The buzzing noise began almost immediately after he said it was fixed and had installed a new transformer. I caught him outside right before he left and SAID the buzzing started again. He went back in the attic and said that it is NOT the transformer, but something wrong with the humidifier. I actually had no idea there was a humidifier. At that point, I asked what we should do? He said we could replace it or just turn it off. I told him to turn it off in the long run it should have been disassembled.) We thought we had a humidifier that was not functioning properly. They continued to service us with the annual contract. Between 2004 to 2007, I started to develop hives and rashes as well as sinus congestion on a regular business. My husband had reoccurring sinus infection and overwhelming fatigue for both of us that gradually became worse. The fall of 2006 we realized something serious was wrong because we started noticing an unusual odor in the house. I developed and continued an increased nauseous and vomiting feeling. My husband also suffered a mild heart attack during this period as well. March of 2007 a technician came to renew our contract for that following year and to do the spring preventative maintenance. I told him what had been going on with us and our home. I mentioned that my husband and I were quite ill and I thought something in our house was making us sick. I asked him if he thought we should add any additional filtration to our system or anything he could think of to help the air quality in our house. He told us he would first check out some things. He went to the attic. A few moments (less than 10 min) he came down with a 5 x 15 in inch filter 1/2 inch thick loaded with mold. Black and other colors, but lots and lots of black. The technician showed it to me and also reported that the first 6 feet of our duct work looked the same as our filter. When I looked at the filter I noticed there was mold. The tech said that he wasn't supposed to use the term "mold", but he conquered that it was. In regards to the humidifier and mold in connection with the A/C, I didn't understand why he found the mold filter in the humidifier because it had been turned off in 2004. He told us that just because the humidifier had been turned off, all air was still flowing through the humidifier vents. He dis-attached the humidifier and taped it up. He also told me a man named Jerry would come the next day to talk to us about replacing the system or anything else he could do. Tech said his hands were tied. I did not want Jerry to come out and talk about a new unit because I was so blown away that this had happened and didn't trust the company anymore. After all the years of services and trusting this company no one ever looked.

We've had multiple years of experience with him. We've been using him since about 2008 and we've always been extremely pleased with his work. He is very much the consummate professional. He's very reliable, we've even had a few times where we were in a pinch, going out of town, we had a problem with one of our units and he was able to talk my husband through it on the phone, we were getting ready to go out of town for 3 weeks. I couldn't tell you the improvement not only with my allergies but the heating and cooling throughout our house, about 4100 square feet. He took care of all of it. He's always willing to come back if there is a problem. He comes once a year to check the system. For replacing our system, he wasn't the cheapest in town but the service you get after that is very really reasonable. He will come out and service the system, the routine check is about $70. If he says he'll be here at 1 o'clock he'll be here. I'm a believer you get what you pay for and we never ever pick the cheapest people in town. The quality we expect for what we were going to embark upon he was reasonable. It was not an inexpensive thing to have done. I would not dream of calling anyone else.

I ended up having a lot of problems with Comfort Air in Clemons. I did not find them on Angie's List. Somehow he had fixed the drainage so that it ended up draining down the side of the wall. I ended up getting the baseboard wet, the wall got wet and I got termites from that. I got a mess from him. I will never get them again. I think their pricing was high. They sure did mess me up. I had water coming down into the bedroom and the ceiling just bulged. I had that twice -- there were two different times that happened. I have papers to back what I am saying.

The entire company was polite and efficient. The work was performed very close to the time frame they promise, and the system is working well. I had to call them back one time for a connection that lost it electrical connection and they can out and repaired it very fast. As part of their customer satisfaction program, the check back to see how the system is perofrming. They've made a couple of those calls already.

Recent Review: We needed a new furnace and air conditioning system for our 3100 sq. ft house. McBane Brown was recommended to us by a neighbor who owns a large engineering consulting company and who had used them to install a new furnace and duct work to his house. He said they did very good work for a fair price. McBane Brown came and listened to our concerns, made a thorough inspection and then came back to us with their recommendations and price in writing. They needed to move the furnace to another location from where the old one had been. They were here day-in and day-out for several weeks, but we were never inconvenienced in any way. We are very happy with the results and the professionalism and know-how of this company. I have had to call them a few times for various problems, and they always come right away and stay until the problem is resolved. We also have a service contract with them. I would recommend McBane Brown to anyone.
