Jenny was wonderful. I asked for a herringbone tile backsplash install on thre 45 angle. She was meticulous and asked me at several steps along the way how I like sit to ensure I was happy. She had to work around outlets and an ogee counter edge and it turned out just as I wanted it to! Just beautiful work.

MARC'S ODD JOBS & HOME REPAIRS

Marc came out last year and gave estimate, I called him during slow season to see if he had a sale and he was able to discount a little. He came out promptly and installed handicap toilet and it was bought to my attention by my brother that he needed grab bars; March was able to install immediately. He also installed ceiling fan in den and it is perfect. I had to call Marc back for an additional hand rail and he came back in a few days and was very accomodating and generous.

He was very nice, and he worked very hard. The original deal was for three hours. He got here at 10:30 and worked until approximately 6:00 (at least, I don't remember exactly). He only charged me another $99. He did break an old cheap piece of lawn art, but he paid me what I asked with out any questions or complaints. He was pleasant and professional, a regular type of guy.

i have used Shane services for close to a decade now and have never been disappointed with him or his work. He Built my 2nd story back deck, cut out and framed an interior wall window, installed glass panels in my kitchen cabinents, cleaned and installed gutter guards on my rain gutters. he has also installed outdoor flood lights and 3 way electrical outdoor light switches and outdoor outlet. He has also installed ceiling fans and a chandelier in the foyer with a cathedral ceiling. Shane has installed a bathroom toilet and kitchen sink. in fact he stayed until 9:30 pm that night to finish the job right. he also stayed until 10pm one other night in the pouring rain on the roof fixing a leak. He always goes above and beyond what you would expect. The bridge you see in his photo album is the bridge he built for me in the back yard and I have been extremely happy with his craftsmanship not only with the bridge but with everything he has done for me. I will never call for another contractor. Shane is reliable, trustworthy, talented and hard working. I never let anyone in my house unless I'm home except for Shane. I have total trust and faith in him and my dogs also love him. he is great with them and treats them as if they are his own. Shane has become not only my contractor but a true friend.

Richard is incredibly efficient and exacting- Other reviews say "meticulous," and I agree. At the end of every day, Richard was sure to clean up and leave all areas neat. He allowed the kitchen to be as useable as possible. He made great recommendations and suggestions. Before adding molding to the ceiling, he had to remove 27 yr old wallpaper border. He did this easily and seemed to have the molding up in no time. I had some very plain, unfinished-looking areas on cabinets and walls that he enhanced with molding, as well. In order to install the backsplash I wanted, he had to take out a cabinet above the microwave so he did this, raised the microwave, and made a box for a future wine rack above the microwave with left-over room. He installed new backsplashes beautifully. Some of the cabinet doors were a bit crooked and the counters were not level. He fixed them, as well. Richard and an electrician friend of his installed canned lighting in the ceiling, added pendant lights, and changed out the chandelier. They also installed under counter lighting and moved outlets for more convenience. Incidentally, they also installed a ceiling fan in a bedroom. Richard has also done many other jobs for me. Recently, he installed a hot tub on my deck, replaced rotten boards, painted the deck, and secured it underneath for the weight of the tub. He installed new railings, as well. Richard power washed the area, including my deck cushions. Richard is as non-invasive as possible by being as quiet as the job allows and by being courteous in manner and approach. He is polite, well-spoken, and seems to enjoy challenging jobs. He is not passive in his thinking, but rather he is always problem-solving and engaged. He wants the customer to be happy with the job he has done. He is happy when he can walk away knowing his customer is satisfied-who wouldn't want someone like him working for them! Richard has family members who can help him when the job calls for more than one person ( such as installing a hot tub). His daughter is a handy-woman by profession and he has sons who help him at times.

Getting started: Justin requires that the customer pay for all materials up front. In this case, I gave him $3.600..which I found to be odd. He came with great referral, so I went with it. The overall estimate/bid was $8,000. He bills his labor by the day...not the job. His cost is $300/day. He bids how long the job will take, approximately...& provides a timeline of the project & what he plans to complete each day. Before starting this job, we asked about pulling permits & Justin advised us against doing so. Having never done this, & this is our first commercial space, we trusted the advice of the professional-the "expert". After all, many people do work without getting it permitted. We had no idea the repercussions, nor that our contractor would leave us high & dry with full payment & not help us once the city put a stop work order on our door. Not only were we shocked to have our job halted, but we found out that our guy was not a licensed contractor or plumber! In general, Justin proved to be a hard worker. To an inexperienced eye, he seemed to do good work too. However when we were ordered by the city to pull everything out that Justin had done, we found that none of the work was done to code. Had it been to code, we might have been able to salvage some of it. Instead, we had to start over from step 1 & redo everything! Justin walked with the full payment of $8,700 & refused to come back to help us, & in fact turned 100% of the responsibility on us, the customer. He went as far as to say we asked him to come work for us without a permit, & to keep the job as cheap as possible (neither of which are true). Bottom line, if you need general home improvement work done that does not require a permit, you might be fine. Keep in mind that Justin is not a licensed contractor, which means he is not insured. If this is not an issue for you, than you will be fine. I would NOT pay in full until you are completely satisfied. He played our heart strings & acted pitiful, so we paid him in full thinking he would still help us make things right with the city. He took our money & left town, and told us he would not come back to help us unless we paid his travel expenses AND for all work he would have to redo. Might as well have thrown our $8,700 in the dump as we had to start over & pay it all over again, including fines from the city.
