Hank and his staff were honest, friendly, and efficient. Everyone else quoted me between two and three times would hate calling me. It was because they were trying to sell me things that I did not need. Hank told me the truth from his very first assessment through the end of the project. He was prompt, timely, and communicate regularly. I would highly recommend city basement for any of your waterproofing, basement, or foundation issues

Hank was extremely responsive to the problem we were having in our basement. After we called, Hank was able to stop by and assess the problem the same day and started the repair work within the week. He and his staff were very professional and did a great job. No more leaks in our basement as of present

Pat the plumber was friendly and honest. He did not charge me the first time he came out to my house as he was able to fix the leak easily. He just asked me to give referrals and call when I wanted to replace the faucet. I called him once I was ready to replace the faucet and he was punctual, friendly, and honest again. Pricing was fair. I have already referred him to two friends and they were also happy

Andy Identified source of leak quickly; loose connection on faucet head, and loose connection on garbage disposal. Clearly communicated the problems to me. Tightened loose connection on faucet and installed new mounting ring on garbage disposal. Also suggested I contact Kohler to replace the spray hose which had become stiff from the leak. Which I did and it is on the way. He clearly demonstrated how to install the new spray hose, and said someone from Bilz could stop by for a very small charge if I had any problems with installation. Very satisfied with the service from Bilz!!!

Gold Star Waterproofing, LLC

We discovered leaks in a previous (26 year old) waterproofing job. Because we were having new floor installed the next week, we were in a time pinch. Steve made time to look at and fix the problem within a very short time frame. He also made sure to show me what he was doing, explaining how the waterproofing system works (something the original installer did not do), and exactly what he was doing to repair it. Very professional, yet friendly. Answered my questions, did his work in a timely fashion, cleaned up after

Foundation Specialist LLC

My wife and I purchased a fixer-upper in August of 2013. We knew the home had basement water problems because the previous owners had someone install a fix from the inside. This fix was nothing more than a band-aid, because it did not resolve the leaking problem, it just re-routed the water to the sump pump once it came through the walls. After talking to several companies about how to do the job right and how much it would cost we chose Foundation Specialists. Brian Foster came out, looked at the problem, gave us his recommendation and price. After agreeing to the basement job we found out that they do other cement work as well, so we had them replace our front porch and front walk. The crew arrived when scheduled and completed the basement work in 2 days. They then came back and did the additional work in in 3 days. The crew was very knowledgeable in their trade and very friendly. A very wet spring has tested the work and I'm happy to say our basement is dry. I would highly recommend Foundation Specialists for basement water problems and any other concrete work as well

Blakeslee & Son Inc

Initially we had a leak underneath the sink and didn't know whether it was behind the wall, or even how to diagnose. I called Blakeslee and I was glad I did. Receiptionist was exceptionally nice and helpful and was able to arrange for someone to come out the next day within a 2-hour window. She called to confirm the appointment when he was on his way, and he arrived right on time. He reviewed their work procedures and fee policy up front (they have a base trip fee that covers the visit and analysis, then they explain what the issue is and the estimated cost and get approval before proceeding). He was able to not only quickly determine the source of the leak and fix it (turned out to be minor, whew!) but also to fix the slow drain on that sink and a tub in another room, and to inspect a very aging water softner with me. He discussed and explained various issues in detail regarding the softner and our plumbing...obviously very experienced and knowledgable. He provided an estimate on a new softner with no 'hard sell'...just facts and information that would help us decide how to proceed. We then had Blakeslee & Son replace our water heater, water softner and well pressure tank with new ones as well as install a whole-house filter. They also replaced several nearby plumbing pipes that were corroded and aging. I never thought I'd say that going through all that would be enjoyable, but it was! After watching home shows like 'Holmes on Homes' for years, and with this being our first home, we are nervous about contractors and wanted to make sure that we were 'informed homeowners' so we asked lots of questions. Throughout the process, Blakeslee & Son, and especially Andrew, were wonderful. Every question was completely answered professionally with obvious knowledge, experience, and honesty. (If they didn't know, they would find out and get back to us. If a price seemed high, they explained why it was that way.) During the visit for the estimate, Andrew fully explained our options, what his recommendations would be and why. During installation he again explained what was being done, showed us how the systems worked and should be maintained, labeled everything, and answered every nit-picky question I could think of. The work was done in a completely professional manner, and Andrew followed up a week later to ensure that everything was completed to our satisfaction (fixed a very small leak at that time at no additional cost). Then we had a problem with low water pressure, and they came out immediately and diagnosed it (new filter was clogged from rust from older disturbed pipes) and corrected it at no cost. Andrew seems to be one of those rare people who is both very proficient in his trade and can communicate well with homeowners so it became both a well-done upgrade and a learning process for us. Everyone we worked with were very pleasant and professional. We will not hesitate to contact Blakeslee & Son for any future work we might need done

He took apart the water heater to see if he could repair it and then contacted the manufacturer since it was still under warranty. Replaced and installed the water heater very quickly after he picked it up from the local dealer in Grand Rapids. Located a leak after we smelled gas. When cutting into the wall he made a small hole and was very careful to clean up afterwards. Excellent service

David Brown's efforts to assess my basement situation involved banging on the floor with a putter from my golf bag. He banged the floor so hard and so many times (I actually thought he was trying to break the floor to necessitate repair) that it broke my putter in two. This wasn't a problem, until he canceled his commitment to advertise. I'm now out the revenue from his ad and am out one putter. This is a typical business that hides behind a Christian symbol (the fish on his card) but fails to live by the ethic of his supposed religion. In my opinion, he and his company are insincere, being unwilling to right a wrong. So when he hands you his card, and you see the little fish in the upper right corner...it should mean "something's fishy" about this alleged Christian. Indeed, I advise those with basement leaks to avoid Stay Dry Waterproofing

He did drain the tank, but kept insisting on receiving payment while hose was still connected to water tank & still draining. When finished, he said thermal coupler on water heater needed replacement for $270.is reason he couldn't get gas burner to restart. A REAL SHAM COMPANY. Called Plumber at cost of $170 and Service Pro tech had disconnected wire so it wouldn;t ignight I told Serv Pro owner I wanted the plumber bill reimbursed but did refuse. A REAL SCAM SERVICE PROFESSOR- Never let them in the house. He constantly was badgering us to INSPECT other plumbing connections upstairs & I told him he wasn't going anywhere except here in the basement water heater. God knows what he would have misconnected upstairs. Worst Service People to have anywhere near your home or appliances. COMPLETE SCAM ARTISTS> Angie should DROP them from your listings NOW!@!

Stay Dry Basement Waterproofing Inc

After a severe rainfall my wife and I discovered water was forcing its way through the basement slab and in between the slab and cove joints in our basement. Knowing that we wanted to eventually finish the basement, I contacted five different contractors to assess which had the best solution to keep the area dry. In the end we chose Stay Dry based off the company's proposed solution, experience, and positive review base on Angie's List. While Stay Dry's solution was similar to what other contractor's quoted, it was superior in that they used triple-walled perforated pipe--not corrugated--that was installed next to the foundation footer as it should be. Don't let a waterproofing company--in my particular case, Ayer's Basement Systems--convince you that a drainage tile can be installed on top of the foundation footer and function properly. Reading guidelines the Department of Energy and Oak Ridge National Laboratory established for proper foundation water management, and a little common sense, confirm this. All of this is to say that Stay Dry proposed and installed a system that is proven to work, and they did so with excellent workmanship. Jim and his crew were courteous and professional in their conduct throughout the installation, and I would heartily recommend them--and Stay Dry--to anyone needing basement work. They literally went above and beyond the scope of what they were paid to do. They installed a dry well for us, and then they took extra time to move the left-over dirt to areas that needed improved grading to keep water away from the house. Nowhere was this in the contract, but they did it free without question. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the finished product, but there is one small thing that could have been done better from the sales side. We decided to opt for the battery backup sump pump with the Pump Spy monitoring service, but the Stay Dry sales rep did not disclose the fact that the Pump Spy service itself included just a 30 day trial, after which there is a $4.99 monthly fee. I was not made aware of this until I went to activate the service online when the system was installed. $4.99 is not bad for being able to regularly monitor the sump's activity and any issues that could arise, but I do wish that the Stay Dry rep had informed me ahead of time. Regardless, I highly recommend that anyone who is having basement water issues give Stay Dry a call and rest assured that their work is worth the investment

Date/Amount approximate. I was so fed up with them that I intended to leave detailed review, then life overtook me. I did not consider the price charged to be unreasonable, if the work had actually been properly completed. The leaking drain was not fixed in spite of 2 different visits, months apart (they did not accurately diagnose what was leaking either time). I had to contact a different plumbing service to get this fixed. The burst pipe was repaired, but the repair leaked. When I called them back, the plumber came right out. He could see the evidence of the leak, but could not see it actively leaking at the moment, so could not isolate where it was leaking. I figured out later that week where it was leaking, and my tenant called back to be treated very rudely by the service person who took the call and stated that the plumber found no leak so it wasn't leaking and they wouldn't come out without charging us. (When the plumber had come back, he fully acknowledged that he clearly saw the evidence that the pipe had been leaking after his work.) I called back later, got it cleared up, and the plumber came out and actually fixed the leak in the pipe he had replaced. It took 3 visits, but the burst pipe was repaired and remained leak free. While he was doing the first fix to the burst pipe, I was draining the water heater (turned off) for a drain/flush. (No water anyway, good time to drain out the water heater.) I told the plumber what I was doing, that the water heater was shut off, draining, and not to touch it as I would finish taking care of it myself later. The plumber 'fixed' the burst pipe, failed to fix the leaking drain, and then messed with the water heater, turning it on and filling it, causing a burst element in the heater. I called the owner about this and the failed repairs, and he was not professional at all. My water heater was old, yes, but his plumber had done things he was explicitly told not to do, ultimately harming my ability to have hot water until the water heater element was replaced. He refused to acknowledge any responsibility for the actions of his plumber. He said the water heater was my problem as it was old. Even thought his plumber had messed with it after being explicitly and directly told to leave it be, he refused any responsibility for the resulting damage. He got on my case for not paying the bill for repairing the leaking drain when the drain was leaking just as bad after. He finally decided it was in his best interest to cut his losses, or something. He refused to send anyone else out to actually fix what they had been hired (and paid at least once) to fix in the first place, and he refused to take responsibility for his plumber breaking my water heater, but said he would cancel the billing, and said I would have to call someone else to get the plumbing fixed. In the end, even with the canceled billing, I had paid hundreds of dollars for repairs that still leaked afterward because the plumber did not bother to make sure he had it all right and a broken water heater element because the plumber refused to leave it alone.. I had to call another plumber to fix the problems that Canfield couldn't/didn't/wouldn't AND the problems they created. If I can remember who did the follow up repair, I give them a review as their plumber had to actually work at the leak problem, but got it right and we have had no leaks since then. Canfield might be good for basic or easy jobs, and they will come out on a moment's notice for an emergency repair, and their prices are not horrible for emergency repairs, but beware if you have what might be a more challenging problem, especially if the leak (either that you call them for, or that they create during their repair) is intermittent. Ladies, don't bother calling. There isn't a very good chance of being treated with respect. They might be fine in a pinch for other people, but beware if your problem is going to inconvenience them
Pipe Monster Plumbing did an excellent job at our house, I’m so glad we were able to work with them. They were quick, stayed on schedule, and great at communicating! I will definitely be recommending them to all of my family and friends in the future.
They came last November and hooked us up, and said they would be back in the spring to spread topsoil and clean up the area. They just came back and did a great job of leveling things out and adding lots of good topsoil. Now I just have to spread grass seed and I will be back as good as new. Grace, in the office, is excellent at responding very quickly to any questions I had last fall and again this spring

Hank arrived early for an evening estimate. He was very thorough, explained exactly what was happening and even identified work done by previous waterproofers. He emailed the estimate with full sketch the next day. While we decided to wait to do the work, I would absolutely hire City Basement when we do go forward. We were more than pleased with the timely service we received. With the flooding in the area, we didn't know when we would have a tech come to the house. Within the hour we received a call from a tech who was on his way to check our the leak. He determined that the water heater needed to be replaced. He was back the next morning with the heater and two hours later our new heater was in place. The young man, Tim DeSmit, was very pleasant and competent while working, and we would definitely recommend him and Lascko for plumbing and heating

Did an excellent overall job with one annoying exception. The rep on the phone offered to provide the sink needed at a good price (under $40). I was away when the sink was installed and my husband oversaw the installing. After the plumber left, I noticed a dimple in the porcelain on the left front of the sink. Husband said the plumber "assembled the fixture and sink" in his truck and brought it in to plunk into the vanity without giving him a chance to inspect the sink. (We had previously bought the faucet.) Now I will have to see that flaw in the sink every time I use that room. Yes, it's very small BUT had I seen it prior to installation, I would have objected. Who wants flaws in their sinks? Yes, Genson's does good work, but the company should have given us a chance to inspect the product they sold us or should have inspected it carefully themselves before plunking it into our home. Yes, I could have called and complained, but I don't want yet another visit from a plumber. So, my advice is hire Genson's but watch what they install as they won't necessarily do so for you
