It was a very big job. I liked them! The tile itself, I believe was a bad package. They came right out. Being prompt, getting your job done, that means a great deal to me with my line of work.

Jake was extremely detailed and did an amazing job. I didn't even bother to get another quote because I could tell that Jake knew what he was doing and the most important aspect to me was that the job be well done. I absolutely love my floors. Both Jake and Kodi were on schedule, timely, and cleaned up after themselves every day. I highly recommend Rockford Tile and would hire them again.

Matt's quality is exceptional. His timeliness is as promised, and his communication throughout the project is as needed. Matt brings a level of ethics to each job as if he is doing the work on his own home. He doesn't hesitate to come back out post-job if adjustments need to be made. I didn't even think twice about having Matt and his crew in my home working while I wasn't there. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using Custom Surfacing!

I was very pleased with their tile cleaning. Scheduling was very easy. I actually was able to schedule it right away for the time frame that I needed. They were very courteous. They did a phenomenal job. He actually tried to take care of the smell from the carpet. He not only took care of what I paid him to do, but he took care of some extra things. The price was easy given that we have a very large kitchen.

We hired Paul to fix and complete the work of our previous contractor who had walked out taking our money and leaving us with a mess. From the beginning Paul said he was different, that he was the last tile contractor we would ever look for, a Christian who even preaches in his local church, and that we would have no problems with him. The first problem arose on the first day of work when Paul was getting ready to lay tile. I was out of the house and Paul demanded to my wife that we provide the thinset he wanted even though he wrote into the contract that he would provide it. The situation was resolved after my wife pulled out the contract to show him but was just the beginning of our problems with Paul. As the job continued work progressed nicely. On Wednesday (2nd day of job) Paul and I were casually talking about the job when he asked me if I would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for him to help him expand his business. I agreed figuring that he would expect it at the end of the job. On Thursday morning when Paul arrived the first thing he asked was if his letter was ready. When I told him I had not done it yet his attitude seemed to start to change. I am still not sure why he expected to get this letter before the job was done, but it does not make sense to me to give a letter of recommendation before the job is over. Over the course of the job there were other problems as well. Paul would change the design of our tile without asking us and did not like it when we questioned his design ideas. Overall I would say he was very pushy and did not seem to really value our opinion. Paul finished laying tile on Thursday and came on Friday to grout. After asking for his recommendation letter once again he got to work grouting. As Paul was finishing, the company that was installing our shower door came to do measurements to order the glass. As soon as they showed up Paul seemed to almost be tripping over himself to get out the door. The first problem that the glass company noticed was that the curb on our shower, which should ALWAYS slope toward the shower was perfectly flat. Paul stood in my bathroom for about five minutes arguing with the glass company that their level was off and that there was really a slope there, but it is flat as flat gets. The second problem was that the wall tile on the back wall of the bathroom was about 1/2" to 1" out of plumb from the tub deck to the top of the tile. While this was not a functional problem, it causes the mounted glass to look like it is leaning away from the shower and is just another detail that Paul missed. He was in such a hurry to leave that he even forgot to re-hang the door in the bathroom, reset the toilet or replace the shoe moulding like he said he would. He also left an absolute mess with the grout which took me about 4-5 hours to really clean up and make it look finished. The only detail he didn't miss was the method of payment that he was paid with. Paul stood in my office and demanded a check from Bank of America thinking that we had paid our deposit that way. I tried to explain to Paul that we do not nor have we ever used Bank of America, at which point he basically accused me of trying to scam him. It wasn't until I showed him the check register of my Suntrust account that he finally accepted the fact that the first check came from there. Apology accepted I guess, even though he never apologized. There were to many issues with Paul to mention them all here, however all of the issues mentioned above pale in comparison to the biggest issue we have. A few days after the grout was dry and we were using the bathroom somewhat normally (shower glass not installed yet), I noticed that the grout right in front of the entrance to the bathroom had started to crack and chip out in a corner where four tiles come together. I called Paul and he agreed to come out and look at the problem only if I gave him the letter of recommendation he was still after. When he came he said that the tile had come loose because we had walked on it before it was set (Tuesday night). This started a huge argument because I know we did not walk on the floor AT ALL while they were working on it unless Paul was there and we had his permission to avoid a scenario just like this. Paul came up with a solution to use what he called caulk grout to fill in the cracked area while leaving it flexible so it would not crack again. Thinking that this was an isolated incodent I had no problem with this and Paul did the work. While working Paul asked again for a letter of recommendation and seemed really upset that I did not have it for him. I explained that there was no longer a chance that he would be getting a letter from me because there were just to many issues with the job. This seemed to agitate Paul, but he continued to fix the problem area. After finishing and asking me If I was satisfied with the work Paul asked me if he could take some pictures for his portfolio. Normally this would not have been an issue, however Paul had already taken pictures previously when the work he did on the job was completed. Since that time I had spent hours cleaning and then sealing grout, installing hardware, finishing drywall (that Paul was supposed to finish per our agreement but didn't) and painting. At this point with everything else that had gone on I really did not want Paul taking credit for work I had done, so I told him he had enough pictures already and not to take any more. At this point Paul seemed extremely agitated, but since his work on the repair was done he just left. The date the repair work was completed was 3/13/12 and I hoped for the best. Unfortunately by 3/23 I had another spot on the floor doing the exact same thing. I contacted Paul and he told me that it would be no problem getting it fixed and that he had a job for the next two weeks then he would get a hold of me to get the details worked out. It is now the 7th of May and after numerous attempts to contact him I have heard nothing out of Paul. Even worse I now have at least a dozen different spots on the floor including the original spot that Paul fixed where the grout is cracking to various different degrees. I will now probably need to have the whole floor ripped out and replaced. Paul's two year warranty seems to mean nothing to him. This job started out with great expectations and has turned in to an absolute train wreck. I will never have Paul work for me in any way shape or form nor do I ever want him back in my house again. UPDATE: I took my case to the South Carolina Licensing Board and found out that Paul is not licensed at all. I guess I was not suprised, just add that to the other lies he told. I was also told that he attempted to lie to the licensing agency and has been very vauge and difficult for them to deal with. He is in the process of being issued a citation and a fine by the state for working without a license as well as a cease and decist order for any future work. Through this i have also learned that his actual name is Pavel Legkodukh spelled with an "h" at the end which he leaves off of both his business card and contract. This continues to be an ongoing process which I will continue to persue until I am made whole.

Recent Review: Andy was such a great man for our transition from tile flooring to hardwood. He was hardworking, honest and trustworthy, and completely professional. To say our job was difficult was a complete understatement but Andy, through it all, remained professional with a smile on his face. He removed more than 1000 sq/ft of tile on our main level and replaced with hardwood. We were gone during the initial removal of tile and he communicated with us a few times a day letting us know the updates, which was so helpful. After our initial consult and quote he even noticed the wood we were looking for go on sale and communicated that with us so we could save money on the overall project. Seriously, could not have found a better person for the job and would recommend to anyone and would hire him again in an instant.

Recent Review: We were extremely satisfied with the work done. Paul, the owner, selected new oak flooring that exactly matched the existing 25 year old floor. The crew spliced it in and refinished everything such that you cannot tell the difference between the old and new. I would best describe their work as meticulous and thorough. The floor was refinished with a Bona Dryfast Oil Sealer and two coats of satin Bona Traffic. The final result exceeded expectations and is essentially perfect. Paul was great to work with, very helpful in deciding what to do, and competitive in his pricing. I highly recommend this contractor for wood floor work.

Recent Review: Nels and Chris did an amazing job refinishing our hardwood floors. They are professional, knowledgeable, and the end result is fantastic. They use eco-friendly products and a dustless sander which meant no mess in our house while they worked. Nels came out to quote the job, and was the one here everyday working. They are so passionate about their work and loved finding what was hiding under our beat up original floors. They did such a beautiful job bringing them back to life. I am so glad we chose Sandii Bros!
