There were 2 guys working on the project. One of the men knew exactly what he was doing and the other guy didn't have a clue. The work the man with less experience did was shoddy and had to be redone 3 times. He could not get the floor level with the adjoining floor. They would not make it right with me. The floor looks bad in the area where the work was done improperly.

Tile by John Perry

My overall experience with John was outstanding, to say the least. Below is a detailed explanation of my dealings with him: Scheduling: He scheduled an appointment to come by my place and look at the work that needed to be done, despite his busy schedule. He was very punctual which gave me a good feeling from the very start. After we went over the scope of work, he estimated how much tile I had versus how much I needed. He offered suggestions that only someone who does this kind of work on a regular basis would think of to help me reach my ultimate goal and I'm extremely thankful for that. He let me know what his work schedule was and gave me an estimate on when he thought he'd be able to tackle my job. As time went on, he'd contact me letting me know that he hadn't forgotten us and would get to our job soon. Pricing: When I received the quote, I was pleasantly surprised! It came in a couple hundred less than another person I requested a proposal from. And the other tile guy simply asked me for the square footage and threw a price at me without visiting the site. John came to the site, performed a thorough evaluation, suggested a few things (whether I was going to choose him or not) and gave me an excellent price! Workmanship: The previous workers who installed my tile were a joke! They left the tile loose in many areas leading to me wanting to have their work redone. John took the tiles off and pointed out to me that they used the wrong thinset. It didn't adhere to the tile which was causing movement. He completed the tile work in our baby's room, bathroom, closet, and storage area. He even helped me out with the shower liner that was installed. He instructed me on what to ask the plumbers for and how they should complete the work. After the plumbers came by and just threw in the shower liner sloppily, he came in and neatly folded the corners so that the drywall could sit flat against the wall. He also put the durock back up on the wall, then proceeded with the wall and floor tile. I can tell he takes great pride in a job well done. Professionalism: John was discarding some of the junk items from the other room and would go down, returning with the contractor bag. I questioned him about this and he said that it was a way for me to save money by reusing the same bag. Also, most importantly, he didn't dump the excess thinset down my sink! I live in a condominium so that could've been a nightmare. He would dispose of his excess material at the end of the day, making sure to leave the place just about as clean as before he arrived. He is very professional and considerate. I look forward to working with him again on our future projects. I've dealt with plenty of contractors on this renovation project and he is hands down one of the best! I would highly recommend him to anyone of you who needs tile work performed. Write me if you'd like to see samples of his work. Thanks. Frantz Tassy Miami, Florida

Dealing with this company proved to be frustrating, irritating and stressful. Sure, the president, Mark Krukowski, behaved professionally at first, when it came to writing the estimate, sending his workers here on time, and collecting payment. With all the tile installers out there, I asked Mark what set him apart from the others. He said he was the only one who guaranteed all work and materials for two years. So when the job was finished and his workers had left, I found several areas where they had neglected to grout. That’s when the “fun” began. I must have called and emailed Mark a dozen times, without the courtesy of a reply. To get him to pick up my calls, I finally had to resort to hiding my phone no. when I called. After hours of aggravation and annoyance, at long last, I got my flooring finished. I must add that when Mark brought the contract for me to sign, I noticed he had and quot;forgottenand quot; to include his 2-year warranty on labor and materials, and I asked him to write it in. He did so, then left with it, telling me he’d photocopy it and send it to me. I’m still waiting for that version, though he finally sent me one with his handwritten clause stating and quot;limited two year guarantee.and quot; There are lots of installers whose work is of equal or superior quality. So there’s really no reason to do business with this one.

Having worked in the construction industry for many years I could do all of the renovations with the exception of tile work - something I never did before. Gilbert and crew started with applying cork sheets as an underlayment for the floor tiles (required by condo association for noise abatement). The following day they checked the level of the floor which was unlevel in many places. I was using 22" square tiles and after discussion with Gilbert we decided to "float" the floors to make them as level as possible to prevent hills and valleys in the finished floor. Laying the tiles was then pretty straightforward followed by grouting and cleanup. On the final day they applied some wall tile in the bathroom which came out much better then I thought it would. All in all the work was done in a good workmanlike manner and I was quite pleased with the results. Some of my neighbors also commented to me that they found the workers to be be very courteous in passing on the stairways and elevator. I have no reservations in recommending Zion for tile work as they did an excellent job.

I think they did a great job. I worked with Daniel directly and althouh sometimes I would call the store and he would answer with a simple "hello" and not even mention the company names I was not concerned. Everytime I went in person to the showroom he was there and dealt with me directly. His installers did a great job moving my furniture, discarding of the old carpet, and cleaning/dusting after they were finished. There were other companies in Fort Lauderdale that offered a lower price or offered to beat anyones price but they seemed shady and did not get my business.

Recent Review: Since having my flooring installed, I've received many complements of the workmanship. I am extremely grateful for the work performed by Ashley Ryan Flooring. Although,I live in South Florida chose to work with this company as they came HIGHLY recommended. So we did what was need to have Greg come down. Not only did Greg remove the existing flooring in record time but he also beautifully installed both ceramic tile ans hardwood floors and I absolutely LOVE it ! Ashley Ryan is efficient ,professional, and worth the investment and the workmanship far exceeded my expectation! Thanks again Greg and Ashley Ryan Flooring.

Recent Review: They were excellent! Professionals and the work turn out beautifully. They took pictures of every detail to be able to return the furniture and everything in the same place as before. I have a home office and I were very concerned if it would interrupt me, but they were so carefully that even the wires of my computer they put together so well that it worked with any problem.

Recent Review: I was in the restoration business for over 20 years but didn't have any experience with a relatively new product, i.e., vinyl plank flooring. I am a detail-oriented person that gets involved in every aspect of a project especially when it is a new product with a new contractor. In some ways, Benchmark and I learned some new things about what underlayments work best with vinyl plank flooring, and how to get the vinyl plank and underlayment system approved by the county. I am amazed about how little other flooring contractors and product vendors I called know about the underlayments that will work with vinyl plank flooring. If you don't use the right underlayment, the floor will probably fail after the contractor is long gone. But here's the important point ... despite me drilling down on EVERY detail and overriding Benchmark's original recommendation for the flooring underlayment, the lead foreman, Alex Miller, was 100%+ helpful and willing to work through all the details, and ALWAYS with a very positive attitude. I have worked with many contractors over the years, and Benchmark's willingness to stick with a challenging customer is commendable. In my view, other than a reasonable amount of experience (which I believe Benchmark has), the number one criteria of a good contractor is how responsive the project manager is to the customer's questions and concerns. Benchmark gets an A++ in this regard. Another thing I like about Benchmark is they seem to be the right size company for the average home owner or small investor. They are never too busy to take your call, and they were responsive to inquiries. Right before the flooring project started, I decided I needed to get some painting done. Benchmark was able to provide two excellent painters on short notice at a reasonable rate. When we got rolling with the flooring, the installers (Edwin and assistant) were great. When the project was completed, they gladly returned some extra materials I purchased to Home Depot at no cost - an extra service not discussed in the contract. Based on this first experience, I would recommend Benchmark to anyone and will definitely use them again. I look forward to reading other customer's reviews in the future.

Recent Review: Robert and his crew did a phenomenal job on the entire 1st floor of my house (1200 Sq ft) 32"x 32" rectified porcelain tile. Talk about attention to detail floor was completely leveled through out the house, you could put a level anywhere in the first floor and it was dead on. Cuts were nothing less then precise. I can recommend Robert to anybody with out any hesitation. Him and his crew are prompt, clean, and knowledgable in every aspect.
