Dallas Gas Line Repair

We recently contacted Benjamin Franklin to help with connecting an existing gas line to our warehouse. Larry was sent out to review our requirements and perform a pressure test to check for leaks. Despite the weather conditions, he readily went up on our roof and checked everything out, locating three leaks. The repairs were made quickly and once the gas company came out to turn on the gas service, Larry even came out on a Saturday afternoon to check the system and make sure everything was working properly. He was very professional throughout the whole process and always kept us informed. We couldn't be happier with the service we received or say enough good things about Larry and his customer service. Top notch!

2 workers sent to locate and repair gas leak at hot water heater tank. Replaced old valve fitting and left. Detected gas smell next day/s and called again. Mr Benton came out himself and located gas leak in flexible supply hose to tank. He went to local hardware store and bought a replacement, as he did not have one on his truck. Our friends had used Benton before. Mr Benton came out to prepare estimate for a whole-house conversion from galvanized to PEX, before the gas leak. It took a while to get the estimate from him, a couple of weeks, and it took a while to receive a bill.

We are doing a major remodel and our contractors plumber told us we had 10 gas leaks and offered to fix them for 1,500. We did the math and decided that plumbers generally don't make 500 an hour. So we shopped around and found these guys. They found 1 gas leak. They repaired it. Pulled a permit. Inspector came out and signed off on their work but red tagged us for our contractors plumber installing the wrong size gas line for our 6 burner cooktop. Contractors plumber came out to replace pipe. Fischer and Boone came back to check for leaks before getting the inspector back out and our replaced right size pipes now had a leak. Fischer and Boone repaired that too. This process involved them coming out several times to pressurize the line. Turn gas off. Turn it back on. Very professional. More than fair. For 350 vs the 1,500 quoted by our contractor. We have had so many lousy people working for us during this remodel. Finding this company was such a relief. They're honest, prompt, professional, responsive and do an excellent job. We're customers for life.

The company was quick to respond and stayed until the job was completed. I felt like they really cared that I was going to be able to be warm and have the heater working. Professional, caring individuals.

On Tuesday morning, the gas company shut off the gas supply to my home due to a leak near my meter. I used the gas company’s dealer referral website to find Atlas Plumbing and called them immediately. I explained the situation to the receptionist, and a plumber was at my home in less than an hour. Prior to performing any work, the plumber did an excellent job of explaining the process and setting my expectations. After repairing the leak at the meter, he performed a pressure test, which indicated that there was another leak in either my backyard or home. The plumber approached the situation methodically and isolated the backyard gas line, which was free of any leaks. After an initial assessment of the inside of my home, he formulated a plan, gave me a rough estimate of the cost, and called the office to request a formal proposal, which was delivered to me via email in less than an hour while the plumber was at lunch. I called to accept the proposal, and the plumber returned to my home, located the line with the leak in less time than originally proposed, and replaced it with a new one. He then called the city to schedule an inspection. On Wednesday morning, the city inspector approved the repairs, and by 3 p.m. the gas company restored my gas service. And because the leak in my home took less time to find and repair than anticipated, Atlas invoiced me for considerably less than the amount I agreed to in the proposal. Got the work done, but buyer beware re: high costs and cust.service issues. We determined we had a gas leak on a Saturday less than two weeks after the massive cold front that recently hit Texas, so plumbers are in short supply. We knew it would cost more to have a plumber come last minute and were prepared for an emergency callout price point. The tech was able to come out quickly (thank you for that) and told us it would be 1100.00 to find the leak. The tech spent about 45 minutes at the house and located a small leak at the gas connection for our stove. Fixed that, installed a pressure gauge on our gas line, and told us he'd be back Monday morning to check- if the pressure holds, no additional leaks are present and we can get the city to pass us off so Atmos can reconnect the line. We pay the bill, which landed at 1307.00 with taxes/service charges. Monday rolls around, no sign of anybody. Spouse calls Tempo who has NO record of a Monday appt so supervisor is contacted and says tech will be out immediately. Two techs show, and as the line has not maintained pressure, they look for additional leaks. They tighten/bolster connections where the gas line hits the property and also where the line enters the house. They wait about an hour to ensure line is not losing pressure, then leave confirming the city has been contacted for same day check. For these services (tightening/reinforcing two exterior above ground pipes), they charge an additional 796.00. This was surprising as we thought the 1300 we already paid included this final check/visit. City never shows, we call city utilities office at close of day Monday, the city says they were never informed of the check. City inspector is notified and he comes out and passes us off. He inspects the work done and all looks good but he was visibly startled at our total bill and confirmed city never got the request to check the line. So, all's well that ends well- but we spent 2103.00 for about three hours' of time/service. No major repairs were done - the gas connector for the stove was replaced, and two pipes were tightened or fit was improved. We contacted a separate large master plumbing company afterwards and asked what they would charge for this exact work/time (without disclosing what we had just paid). They said 650.00 for the first hour and 150/hr for each hour after that. That gets us closer to the 1300 we paid initially, and which I think would have been reasonable given the weekend call out and the skill level required to ensure gas safety. We are more than happy to pay fair prices and truly appreciate the expertise required but this felt a little like gouging, especially given the lack of effective follow up (the missing Monday appt and the city not receiving the request for check). Totally understand plumbers are working insane hours right now and appreciate the fact that they got us back online but 2100.00 for the services rendered is really hard to justify.

Chance was early and did great at helping with our utilitie location. We will definitely be using this company again for future needs!

The technician diagnosed one fireplace to have a broken gas line. He said I would need to hire a plumber to repair the line. I did hire a plumber who found that the gas line was fine; all that was necessary was to purchase a longer key to turn on the gas.

All work was done quickly and he was very thorough. Quality of repipe was great. Have already used them twice more for quotes and pipe replacement.

Atlas was very upfront with potential expense to do this job. I wanted to run a gas line to hook up my grill too. After discussion I determined that it would be cheaper to buy a new propane grill. Sonny was very helpful and gave me good information. I would trust this plumber with other jobs in the future.

Was great. They helped on very short notice as we had a leak that shut us down without much warning, but the leak location and age of piping made replacement the only option. Owner came out personally to inspect and talk to us. Loved the crews he had on the job.

The company was appropriate and the plumber who came out was appropriate and professional. He did a thorough job of inspecting and making recommendations.

Excellent overall experience. Very professional throughout. Work was high quality and completed ahead of estimated schedule. Staff was very knowledgeable and provided practical solutions and options. Generally good communication regarding estimates and appointments. Reasonable and honest pricing--was significantly less than a competing bid for the same work. Agreed to hire them late-ish on a Friday; all major work was completed the following Thursday. Highly recommended.

They showed up on time to do the work. I only waited two days for them to come out and do the work. They called before they came over and did the work. They cleaned up everything before they left.
