I performed the framing and shower pan install in the master bath. They installed the tile and grout. One of the reps while here notice living room sagging. Made a great offer to repair it. Upon demo of the old ceiling, they found several old joists that had broken at knots in the wood. They replaced the entire Framing in the two rooms involved, installed new dry wall, tape & bed, textured new ceiling, matched the old wall texture, painted. All with great clean up each day. My wife and I had very little to do as far as cleaning once they were done. We will be using them again!!

Joe and his team did a great job removing an undersized load bearing beam in my home and installing a properly sized beam to replace it. Because the old beam had been sagging, installation of the new one caused some unforseen separation between the wall drywall and the ceiling. Joe and his team made sure to patch, texture, and paint all of the effected areas so it was totally buttoned up when they were done. Also, they had some issues with my garage door after the beam was installed, but Joe and his team went above and beyond to make sure the garage door sensors were fixed before they called the job complete. Overall, it was a job well done and I will consider hiring them again if I have another project come up.

Very, very well. Emmanuel worked through a difficult door replacement that required re-framing, drywall and the installation of a new, larger door. We had a tight time -frame, requiring same-day service, was completely booked, but he found a slot that allowed him to complete our difficult assignment in a relatively short time, on the afternoon of the same day we contacted him. After surveying the scope of the requested job, Emmanuel allowed us to acquire the materials necessary to accomplish the task, while he worked efficiently through the demolition part of the door replacement. He then cut a new doorway and installed the new door, leaving a completed product that exceeded our expectations.

Carlos and his company did outstanding work for us. They put in a new driveway, replaced the siding on the house, painted the house inside and out, installed new windows, sanded and stained the wood floors, installed new tile throughout the house, raised the ceiling and took out walls, redid the kitchen, installed carpet in various rooms, redid bathrooms, built a deck in the backyard, and installed sliding glass doors on the back of the house. Excellent quality work, especially with the tile and counter tops. Carlos, Louis, and the rest of the team were very easy to work with and communicated very well. They were always on top of any problems we ran into during the remodel. Good eye for design and functionality. Honest and hard working people across the board. 10/10 recommend, can’t wait to have the opportunity to work with Carlos, Louis, and the rest of the empire of tile and granite again.

As usual, perfection is this company's motto. Was able to re-establish light in ceiling above fireplace to center, replace drywall and paint. Light is no longer "off center" as installed by builder and is no longer an eye sore to the owner (me)!

Brian and Jeff did a beautiful job. The windows are odd sized and my house is old so it was not a simple remove/replace job. They did a great job on both the removal and the replacement with no damage to interior or to brick on exterior. Everything was foamed and caulked. The bathroom tub had to come out in pieces, but there was no unnecessary damage. The new tub was installed and tile laid, Brian suggested a custom pattern that looks wonderful. They also installed a new fan/light that is perfectly centered now! The trim they installed is great, they had to custom fit in many places and you can't tell there is even a seam there. The exterior paint looks great and was completed very quickly. They continually clean the area they are working in so construction residue and dust is kept to a minimum. They kept me informed of progress during project, notified me for input on out of ordinary issues, and were very timely in being there when they said they would. Truly a great experience.

Top Coat
5.0
I have used Top Coat for several projects in and around my home over the course of the last 6+ years. My first experience was an amazing job that they did with a faux finish in my kitchen and den. A little over a year and a half ago we had a water leak in the foundation of our home which resulted in water damage to several rooms. Top Coat did all of the remodeling work to fix all of the issues. They gutted both bathrooms to the slab and installed new tile (floor and wall), installed new vanities, bathtubs, and toilets. They installed new drywall and textured and painted. In addition they removed the old carpet and installed wood laminate floors throughout the living room, dining room, entry and hallway. They replaced all of the interior doors and also installed crown molding and painted all of the interior walls in the rooms that were remodeled. We have received many compliments on house nice everything looks and what an amazing job the contractor performed. Most recent, they painted the exterior of our home. This included replacing a section of siding, construction of new shutters, and replaced rotted wood from around the garage door and some windows. In all of the work that they have performed, they have always been punctual, cleaned up each day, and have been very conscientious of their work. I highly recommed Top Coat and will not use any other contractor. They have listened to my ideas and have brought them to fruition. The quality of the work performed is excellent.

J.C. and his general factotum Doug came to start this huge project the Monday, November 14. I had not completely cleared out both rooms (kitchen and dining room), but they were very gracious and said they would go to another short-term project and come back the following day. It was actually Wednesday when they were able to return, but that was good for the completion of my part (relocating 36 years' of stuff). Because our house was built in 1946, and J.C. did find lead paint in the walls and window sills, the entire area had to be sealed off from the rest of the house, including sealing the hvac vents. He is certified for lead abatement and was careful to fulfill all EPA requirements, which added to my cost, but that's the deal. Doug worked Wednesday through Saturday, ripping out cabinets and interiors of walls, as well as building the closet for the water heater. We had to give up our bathroom window for the placement of the water heater closet and venting. They left the water heater and washer/dryer in place as long as possible for my convenience. J.C.'s plumber, Curt, removed the old water heater and installed the new one in the closet. We were without water for only a few hours. Curt also moved the plumbing for the sink about a foot and relocated the water supply lines for the washer a couple of feet. That may not sound like much, but the man spent hours in the crawlspace under the kitchen floor. In spite of a few issues with the old galvanized pipe, he was able to complete all the work in a day, working until at least 7 p.m. that evening. J.C. and his electrician, Mark, repaired or replaced wiring as needed and installed lights and relocated a switch that had been in the wall that was removed. J.C. was very creative in designing my laundry closet for my stacked front-loading washer and dryer. In order for my exterior door to open to at least 90 degrees, but still install a full-sized door in the closet, the closet has a sort of bump-out for the door (see the photo), and an access panel in the sidewall of the closet for maintenance purposes. Once all the reconfiguration work was done, drywall hung and the new window in place, J.C. and Doug took a break for the Ikea cabinet installers to do their deal. Then, Doug returned, painted and installed the new flooring, and Curt came and installed the new gas range and J.C. installed the fridge. After countertops were installed (by another provider), Curt returned and installed dishwasher, sink and faucet, water purifier with faucet, and hooked up the icemaker. Doug installed a glass tile backsplash, and J.C. and his son came the next day and grouted it (12/23, I think). This week, J.C. came back and installed the new range hood, replaced a bad light switch, cleaned up odds and ends and hauled off all the construction debris. With the holidays, I spent about 3 1/2 weeks washing dishes in the bathroom, but the new kitchen made it worthwhile. J.C., Doug, Curt and Mark were very good to work with, trying to inconvenience us as little as possible . Doug was a special pleasure, which is good, because he was there just about every day of this project. J.C. seems like a family friend by now. I will certainly use them again. J.C.'s pricing is very reasonable, in spite of the EPA, he listens to the homeowner, resolves problems creatively and has a great bunch of associates.

I contacted Craig by e-mail and received a call from him the next day. He came out for the estimate a couple of days later and sent me a written estimate via e-mail soon thereafter. The job was completed over a four-day period, beginning with the demo work, then porcelain tile installation, drywall replacement, and countertop. Craig designed the countertop and gave Rick, the tile installer, instructions on cutting the granite component. They finished this morning. Since I'm painting the room myself, Craig will return in two days to move and reconnect the washer and dryer.

Masterpiece Tile & Grout

For me personally, it was quite an ordeal. I may have bit off more than I could chew, as I don't have much experience in home remodeling and the like. But I did what I had to do and everything turned out pretty good. Larry helped get me started on tearing out the old shower and tile. After the old stuff was removed, I had to hire a plumber to install my new shower valve (I didn't trust myself to do that right). When it came time to replace the old drywall we had to remove, Larry told me about Easyboard (which is MUCH lighter than drywall and traditional cement board). Larry also helped me install one sheet of that. My wife and I decided that this was our golden opportunity to replace the adjacent tub faucet. That was my biggest headache, but I got it in eventually (that delayed getting the cultured marble installed; no fault to anyone but me). After a few calls back and forth, we finally got a date set to have the cultured marble installed. The workers showed up as promised. It took about 6 hours to get the marble installed. A few pieces were missing so I had to have them come back to install those. That drug out longer than I would have liked (the ball got dropped somewhere along the line--twice). But they came back out and installed the two pieces and also reset a different piece that wasn't put on very good. In the middle of all this, a glass company that Larry referred me to came out once to take measurements and once to install. That went like a charm. Larry also replaced a floor tile that didn't conform to the new marble very good. Throughout the process (which spanned about a month, mainly due to my end since I did a lot myself and also was gone a full week during the middle of the project period), Larry kept in close contact and made sure things got done. Larry was very helpful in doing a lot of the "little" things. The shower looks great and I am SO relieved it's done. I should also mention that the cultured marble ended up costing more than originally estimated. We (my wife and I) decided to put marble all around the tub to make everything transition better (we really didn't have much choice). That increased the price but Larry met me about half-way on that which was great. He even offered to work with me financially to pay it off (which I didn't need to take advantage of, but was a nice gesture).

Recent Review: We worked with Scott Craig as our Project Manager. He was helpful and informative. The entire experience was great from start to finish. They showed up on time and finished the work when they said they would. I'm extremely happy with the work and the overall experience with this company. Their price was a bit higher than their competitors, but not unreasonable for the work that needed to be done and in my experience, you get what you pay for. They found things that our insurance adjuster did not initially include in the claim and we were able to get the cost of full repairs covered by insurance (less our deductible).

Recent Review: I chose to have our bathroom shower and counters replaced with the Onyx collection. The countertops and sink bowls are all one piece. The counter is grayish and the sink bowls are white and they have the look of separate pieces. It is easy to keep clean because there is no grout and no seams to get dirty. The shower was enlarged by taking out most of the pony wall. It was custom built and has a frameless look to it with new sliding glass doors. The shower walls look like subway tile and since it comes in custom fit panels, there is no grout to worry about. After a year of use everything still looks new and is easy to keep clean. We also had a custom cabinet made for the vanity area. The cabinet was made to look like the cabinets we already had. All cabinets were painted to match. Some drywall was replaced in the bathroom and the entire master bathroom and closet were painted. You can not tell where the drywall was replaced. Great job on the repair and paint job. New moldings were also installed. Luxury vinyl plank flooring was installed and looks great. We noticed a few tiny splatters of paint on the flooring and Josh cleaned it up quickly. A factory flawed plank was also replaced. After the job was finished we noticed an small area in the closet where the molding had not been replaced. The sliding shower doors could use some adjustment so that they have a better seal. I should have called Josh about these items but never got around to it. Overall, it was a great experience. Josh, Dandy, and the rest of the staff were very courteous to us and very accommodating when it came to our cats. They went above and beyond the call of duty and were super nice to the cats and us. Our bathroom looks new again and I love it! It is such a huge difference. I am glad I went with New Bath Technology.

Recent Review: I expected this to be a traumatic experience, however Joaquin was extremely reassuring, and his crew was excellent, showing up on-time, working late in 105 degree heat every day. We asked and he welcomed lots of questions, felt like we understood what work and progress would be made each day. Crew finished up late day three. I was a little concerned the crew was not covered under workman's comp, however he suggested that he and his crew would sign waivers if that made me feel more comfortable. There were no surprises on the final invoice, he had a $500 coupon, and offered a 6% discount for not using a credit card. Joaquin obviously understands customer service, he was pleasant, thorough and returned all calls. His painter was very good and I must admit I am a little more than picky. As an result, that painter won a bid to paint my house and another follow up project inside.

Recent Review: The initial install was great. What really puts the icing on the cake was Casey's follow up. A year after he built the shower for us, we noticed some discoloration around the baseboard on the wall backing up to the shower. We called Casey out and it turned out that a pipe connected to the fixture had somehow cracked in its threads. Anyway, Casey cut out the wall, replaced the pipe, installed a new shower fixture and then did the drywall repair himself. Didn't charge us a penny. Simply amazing customer service and not a single grumble of complaint. The man stands behind his work, that's for sure

Recent Review: I had initially just started with getting estimates for replacing the HVAC system in my 70-year-old house. However, as I was reading reviews here on Angie's List, I happened to see one where a gentleman described a very similar situation where he needed his HVAC system replaced and wanted some remodeling done on his bathroom. His review was for Calahan Construction, and gave them a very good recommendation. I called Stacy Calahan and he came out to give me an estimate. I showed him the bathroom and water heater and explained what needed to be done. After getting a description of what work I needed/wanted done, he gave me an estimate that included the HVAC replacement with a new, 16 SEER Rheem system and agreed to match a price I had gotten from one of the other two air conditioning companies, so I hired Calahan Construction to do all the work that needed to be done regarding the three elements of the job. All of the workmen were very polite and professional. Since this house is so old, they ran into numerous things that were unexpected, to say the least. The walls in the house are plaster and, in the bathroom, there was a layer of plaster, then drywall, then 4" square tile going up to about 5 feet on all of the walls and the same layering going up to about 7 feet in the tub enclosure. They removed the walls all the way down to the original, hardwood studs, removed the commode and the lavatory, which was also original to the house. The closet in which the water heater was located (originally a pantry we discovered) had to be removed: walls, ceiling and floor -- after they drained the water heater and removed it. This allowed access to the plumbing behind the bathtub which was impossible to work on because the small access door was behind the water heater! Most of the water pipes for both the bathtub and water heater, and drain pipes, had to be replaced before they could rebuild the walls and floor to install a new water heater. Stacy Calahan actually had to crawl under the house twice to gain access to some of the plumbing to make repairs and replace some of the pipes. After everything was taken out, they replaced the floor, walls and ceiling, and installed sheetrock, which they then textured and painted before bringing in the new water heater. The only things left in the bathroom were the tub, the small linen closet and the ceiling. Stacy had a beautiful new commode ready to install and together we picked out a vanity and tiles for the floor and walls to match the paint colors I had selected (dark and light sage). At the same time, we picked out all the faucets, towel racks, assist bars, etc., in a satin nickel finish. I have a brand new bathroom! It is beautiful, with a non-slip tile floor that looks like stone, the walls are a lovely color that changes from tan to misty sage depending on the light. I now have an exhaust fan with a light in the ceiling and a light bar above a wonderful, large mirror over the vanity. There had never been an electrical outlet in the bathroom because 70 years ago there were no curling irons and blow dryers to use. All the bathroom hardware matches beautifully and there is a nice, 4" decorative stripe of ceramic glass in various square and rectangular shapes that ties the colors together. The craftsmen at Calahan Construction took great care when setting the tile to make sure all the tiles were precise distances apart whether on the floor or walls. They put new drywall up and textured it to match the 70-year-old plaster that remained above where the tile had been, then painted it with great care to avoid getting paint on any other surfaces. They had also put down heavy canvas from my front door to the bathroom, HVAC, and water heater which were conveniently right next to each other, to avoid tracking mud, texture and paint onto my floors. The foundation people are here right now and after they make some minor adjustments (thank goodness!), I will have Calahan come back and remove a bar between a very small kitchen (circa 1946) and a back room that was added sometime in the 1960s, then remove the mismatched flooring from a square hallway through the kitchen and the back room, build in extra counters and cabinets, after installing new sheetrock, texture and paint throughout the three rooms. Stacy has already checked the rooms and floors and is looking for appropriate flooring that can be used to tie the areas together. I will definitely use Calahan Construction to do any other work that needs to be done to update my home, because I can be sure they will do an excellent job at a fair price, regardless of how unconventional the old-hippie owner is!

Very satisfied with the job, especially the coordination with the roofer to install the new flashing. Discovered some issues with the 35 year old house and he worked through fixing them as the old siding was removed. Fit and trim of the vinyl siding looks excellent. We chose premium grade vinyl siding with build it foam insulation. Additionally added on 1/2" foam board after removing the old siding. Overall excellent job.

Recent Review: Brandon came out and gave me a bid on the job. He was very thorough and explained the process of what they would do and answered all the questions I had. It was one of those extremely hot days and he sat in his car and used equipment in his car to type in and print me out a proposal. It took quite a long time because he was having trouble with the equipment. I felt bad for him because it was so hot out there, but he was persistant and stayed until he could get me a copy printed. I was getting the house ready for sale and painted all the cabinets in the house (2 baths, kitchen and laundry room). They were natural wood and we painted them white. They installed new hardware on these cabinets. We did not want the hinges painted so they had to take off the cabinet doors and spray them at their shop. I had them paint the kitchen walls and of course once you do that, then the rest of it looks like it needs to be painted. I ended up having most of the interior painted and it turned out beautifully! The man doing the painting did not speak much English, but for the most part I could communicate with him. If I had a problem with anything, he would fix it without making me feel like it was too much trouble. This company really wants to have satisfied customers! The ceiling had a crack in it and after the repair you cannot tell that it had ever been there! The work they did was outstanding. The painter was very careful to cover the flooring and furniture so it did not get any paint on it. The only thing I am not entirely happy with (and it is probably not the painters fault), is the way the wood looks painted. Brandon had warned me that wood does not paint smoothly and the grain would show thru. I had the painter work on a few of the cabinet doors that I felt looked worse than others, and overall I am pleased. They seem to have done what they could and the cabinets are light and bright and now the kitchen looks so fresh! The entire exterior of the home was painted also, and a few rotten boards were replaced. The first part of the job took about 4 days - they estimated 3, but I am pretty sure I added on extra work along the way. I wanted even more work done, they had to go on to another job, but fit me into their schedule about 10 days later. The extra work took 2 days. This was work that was not bid on in the beginning- more interior wall and trim painting. I am very happy with this company and the fact that they tried to accomodate my schedule since the house was going on the market almost immediately. The house showed so beautifully, that it is now already under contract!

Recent Review: There was a little confusion at first, as the original estimator left the company just after the initial estimate. But Chris, the owner, "stepped up and kept up" through several estimate changes, and maintained his patience despite it all. After the work was started, I had some concerns which the crew chief, Roy, handled well, and then it was complete! They did a good job, taped and draped huge doorways, trim and floor, and cleaned up afterwards. I am sure I wasn't their easiest customer, but they did well in managing my concerns and I was pleased with the results. I will definitely use them again.

I had originally wanted 7 fans installed, but he explained and showed me a problem with hanging one of the fans that could not be properly secured. Recent Review: We called Jon and scheduled a time with him for a quote. He came by when he said he would and took a look at what was on our list. He noticed some things that we had forgotten to tell him about so we added those to the list of repairs. I'm very happy about that because they needed to be done. It is appreciated that he took a thorough look. We accepted the quote and we scheduled a day for him to start repairs that was convenient for us. He was very accommodating. He said it would take about a 1 1 /2 days to finish the work. The day Jon came to do the repairs he was prompt and called us to let us know when he was on his way. He obtained all needed parts. He did most of the work the first day here. The ground needed to dry out in order for the fence to be repaired and he returned the following week to finish the work. Repairs were well done and he did everything he said he would along with a few extra things without charge us extra. He cleaned up after himself. Jon was courteous, friendly, and mindful of our pets. I will hire Jon as needed in the future and recommend him to others.

He explained choices for different repairs depending on my budget and time constraints. He worked hard for 5 hours to complete all tasks. The only reason I marked B for price is because in general the rates gave me "sticker shock," but I don't have have information about how Mr Handyman's rates compare to others in the metroplex. Recent Review: This is the 2nd time we have used this crew. On this project, we had some challenges with the holidays, unexpected brutally cold TX weather, and unforeseen schedule changes, but Bob and his crew understood and we were all able to work through them. They made sure that there were not gapping holes in the house during the freezing temps, and took extra care to protect the flooring and kept the work areas clean. Some previous work had been done on the outside, in a closely adjacent area. A1 Eagle Eye's level of quality is far superior to the previous repairs. Not only visually, but in the details as well. They are awesome at color matching! None of our colors are "stock" color codes, but they were able to match stain and paint on the various surfaces. We will have them back again!

Recent Review: Vivienne is wonderful! You can just use her design services OR go even further and she will help you all the way through the entire remodel process. We chose the latter and are so glad we did! She listened to what we wanted and come up with four great kitchen design plans. She helped us through the entire process - made MANY trips to our house; accompanied us on multiple shopping/selection trips; coordinated ordering, delivering, installation, and a zillion other things; problem-solved when necessary; always kept us informed of what was going on; expected perfection of all work; responded to e-mails, texts, phone calls almost "instantly"; the list could go on forever. She also knows the best people to get all the work done! Her experience, knowledge, creativity, "vision", helpfulness, professionalism, attention to detail and patience are PHENOMENAL! Vivienne goes way above and beyond what she would have to do. She could charge much more for the time and effort that she put in for us! Our kitchen looks beautiful! Vivienne is amazing!!!! On a scale of 1 to 10, we would give her a 100!

What do customers in Dallas say about Drywall Installation?

Replaced drywall damages after an attic water heater blew, re framed and installed a new door and replaced an attic ladder. Great experience. I can't find anything to fault. The price was reasonable, they came when expected, they cleaned up after themselves and left no loose ends. I will definitely use them again.
