The Floor Barn

This company was nothing but professional from the first contact until the day the job was completed. If they told me they would be there at 9:00a.m. they would be in my drive at 8:50a.m. They actually ended up starting the work a full week earlier than originally projected. Each day they would begin by laying tarp from the entrance of the garage to the work site in order to prevent any residue being tracked through my house. They were quiet, professional, patient with my husband's propensity to worry, and sensitive to the special needs connected to working in our house. At the end of each day, they cleaned up the work site of all trash, tools, etc, and rolled the tarp up on their way out. They communicated with me each step of the way, and were available by phone even after hours. The work was done in a timely manner, the only delay being due to a tardy plumber. The shower is beautiful, and perfect in terms of meeting the needs that we have. I have already referred a friend to them, and will use them again in the future. Of all the contractors I talked to about this project, I felt that the Putting on the Fix people were most attentive to listening to what I wanted and did their best to deliver exactly that. I will definitely use them on future projects!

Clear Creek Home Improvements

I enjoyed working with Clear Creek Home Improvements on my project. They were careful to listen to what I wanted in my shower remodel and made suggestions on how it could be better. I was especially looking for disability accessibility options in the new shower build. But while remaining beautiful. The work was scheduled and they were always on time and on budget. Everyone was very polite and the place was cleaned up at the end of each day, I will be using them again for future projects.

Larry is hard working, and the integrity he has can be easily seen. He always thinks about what will be the most cost effective way to go about doing the work. He is an honest guy who will not pressure you into performing a service that is not needed. In fact, he has full of money saving tips that the homeowner can do on their own. His communication before and after the job is second to none. He makes sure his customers are satified. I will call Larry again.

A-Quality Home Repair

Perfect and safe set up and cleanup. Derrick did more than expected by hand trimming tree limbs from gutter, taking pictures, giving suggestions, washing siding pieces. Even my very particular old dogs liked him, didn't bark once. I'm disabled, and he asked more than once if there was anything else he could fix for me today before he had to leave for next appointment. Discussed a couple of future projects I may have and suggestions for those. Overall Very Pleased. Thank You.

Hiring a service contractor can be an expensive and sometimes the results are not very positive. This was a very positive experience. Steve came on time as agreed, he worked hard and efficiently and got through the list in less time than anticipated, and is willing to come back at a later date to do some more work to complete the full days work. I am disabled and have limited mobility, and I was impressed at his willingness to do even small tasks. (Grease the garage door so it didn't squeak!) Everything he repaired/replaced is working beautifully. One task required purchasing a connector that I had not been able to find, and he was able to purchase and install it very easily. He is obviously a professional. He brought all his own tools and took the trash with him. I will use his services again without hesitation.

I have known George Patee personally and worked with him since I was a teenager here in Denton, Texas in the 1970's. For nearly half a century George Patee has been my and quot;Go-To-Guyand quot; on several projects. I've seen him build a house from the ground up, so he knows everything about construction, both residential AND commercial. He was trained in carpentry in college in Oklahoma, (but I don't hold that against him). In fact, I worked with George building several of the buildings that were destroyed at Selwyn School fire and have seen him since go back to help in the aftermath and recovery efforts. He has come to my aid on many occasions building barns and mending fences, but hist true talent lies in his dependability. Let me put it to you this way: people ask me why I call him, and quot;Colonel Pateeand quot;. It is because he has and quot;Drilledand quot; it into me- and quot;Reid, Do it the Right way or Hit the *@#$ Highwayand quot;. So just stay out of HIS way - George Patee WILL make it Happen ! Bartlett Home Care & Repair
5.0
Since we have been trying to get a handyman out here for months, the fact that Mr. Bartlett was quick to respond to our inquiry and on time for the scheduled estimate day, we were already partially satisfied. Due to my being disabled, a lot of the items we wanted done were very minor chores that many "handyman" simply don't do. However, Mr. Bartlett informed me that he has several wheelchair-bound clients and so fully understands their needs. On the day scheduled to do the work he showed up on time, started with the outside stuff in order to allow me to get showered and dressed undisturbed, he then came inside and figured out a logical progression through the jobs in the house and progressed rapidly through them. He had the tools, experience, and made short work of a pile of jobs that had been frustrating us for so long. Not only do I feel better in knowing that I now have someone I can reliably call on when I have small things that just need to be done, but I also intend to have Mr. Bartlett give me estimates on a couple of larger projects around the house, as I now feel that I have found someone that I can trust with such jobs.

The process could not have been easier. Two guys showed up one day and took out our old bathtub and plumbing and the plumber showed up a little later and installed the plumbing we needed. The next day the two original workers returned and had the whole operation completed by 4:00 p.m. And they cleaned up everything! It is now a showpiece shower and my husband is delighted with it.

M & R Home Restorations
5.0
Very well!!! Mark came first to look and review. Rick came and did more measurements and discussion. Had other companies come and bid - and M & R were professional, understanding, considerate and guiding. When explaining one of the bathroom changes - door frame enlargement and need to do major plumbing alterations-Rich was the only one who suggested changing the door swing and gaining space without altering plumbing and vanities. This redesign provided more then $2000. savings and gave us the same function. A full size wheelchain can now enter. Their help and guidance was greatly appreciated. Modifications were made for function first and they were able to use existing lights and spaces where needed. Particularly for the entry skylite area, wher only two more recessed light fixtures had to be added. Used the "SolaTube" type sklites and we are more than pleased. The are so bright with daylight - in areas previously dark, that I still look to light switches when leaving the room. If I was told they would be there at a certain time, they were. When I called with a question - and I had many- I would get an quick reply. Their guys were detailed and made all attempts to keep things clean. Because some warehouses distributors are not keeping as much inventories - special orders took a bit longer, and I always kept informed. These guys are good people. They listen and do their best for the customer first, not for their pocket. I asked for their help and suggestions and have been really happy I did. There may be alternate ways to get things done, and you may not know all of them. M & R did all I needed and much more. I will probably need more work on flooring once my situation settles. We will have them do any additional work. They were not the most expensive at all, and were not the lowest. With the changes presented and corresponding savings. WE have been quite pleased.

HE INSTALLED THE DOORS BUT DIDN'T REPAIR THE HOLE LEFT ABOVE THE DOOR AS AGREED UPON. DOORS HAD TO BE RE-WRAPPED BY ANOTHER COMPANY, BECAUSE DOIT 4 ME DIDN'T HAVE A MACHINE TO BEND THE TRIM. THAT COST ME $345 ADDITIONAL. WHILE BUILDING THE DECK HE SAID "THIS IS THE FIRST DECK I'VE EVER BUILT BY MYSELF. MY DAD USUALLY COMES WITH ME." HIS HELPER WAS AN UNEMPLOYED DISH INSTALLER. THEY DID THEIR BEST BUT IT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING MY DAUGHTER & MYSELF WOULD'VE MADE IT OURSELVES. THERE'S A BIG HUGE GAP FROM THE DOOR TO THE DECK. THIS IS NOT SAFE IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, BUT THEN CONSIDERING THE FACT THAT MY DAUGHTER IS IN A WHEEL CHAIR, THIS IS NOT SAFE. THE ADA RAMP FOR DISABILITIES WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY WITH THE RIGHT PITCH. IT IS DANGEROUS. AT THE BOTTOM, IT IS NOT SMOOTH & NOT LOW TO THE GROUND. Unique Construction Concepts
5.0
I love my kitchen. Unique Construction Concepts did a fabulous job. There are some aspects of them that were just fabulous. JC Hill is extremely talented. My one and only negative feed about him is he might tend to forget some things sometimes. I get to the point where I was never home because he has complete access to my house, I had to leave notes in the kitchen" we need to do this, when are we doing this? When is this coming up?" The biggest thing I better say is, we had been without our washing machine for 3 or 4 days because we were doing the floors. The washing machine got put back on Thursday afternoon and we were leaving Friday morning to go to my son's out of town wedding so I had a lot of laundry to do before the wedding. I had to get all these laundry done Thursday night, this was the night when the tornado is hitting North Texas, one of the guys who installed the washing machine reversed the water line, he put the hot water on the cold and the cold on hot. My husband has some disability so there is no way to change it out, I had no clue to change it out so I called JC. He lives 45 minutes away from me at good time and I called him. He drove the 45 minutes on a good day, it's probably more like an hour and a half to get to my house to change out the water line so that I can get my laundry done.

Green Shield First

We came in contact with Green Shields at the Fort Worth RV show at which time an appointment was made to get an estimate to remove a tub and do a handicap shower. Brian Palmer came to the house and srarted throwimg out quotes starting in the area of $18,000. After much talk and ratceting down, his final quote was $8,800 with acceptance the next day. RED FLAG. A contract was signed on January 18th with a target start of Feb 18 to 27. He also stated that all work was done be employee's and not subcontracters. The workpeople he sent out which were subcontators of his subcontractor Christon and there was a language barrier. They finally said they would start March 11th but they did not show until the 14th.They did call to make the change They said the project would be done in one week and it took them about 2 weeks, one reason is that they built the shower seat to long and had to redo it. The agreed on design called called for the use of a shower curtain which was now out of the question due to the bench being built to long. We then had to purchase a shower door that we did not want due to disability issues at an additional cost of $585. At the time of the contract Brian told me that he would instal a "Car Wash" shower and said it was worth over $2,000.00 (offered at Home Depot for $509 ) I looked it up the car wash(Aston model spgl 306) on line because the wand is still to this day leaking badly and can not be used. I have been very patient with them and almost 2 months later it still does not work. Christon his subcontracter said that he ordered the washers from the company which was yet another lie.He delivered faucet washers that did not work. Brian gave a speach that he would file with the VA as I am a Veteran for some reimbusement. To this day Phone calls are not returned, only their voicemail picks up.terrible.

Justin Ripple

He was told that I have asthma and am highly allergic to dust. I had researched how to prevent dust exposure and told him what I wanted him to do and that I was willing to pay for it. He did not do what I asked. He put up plastic with tape, but his tile guys only kept the bathroom window open and door closed during demo. After that day, Justin was on the property off and on. The tile guys took down the plastic after Justin said all the dust was over with. It wasn't. They were sawing in the bathroom until I came in and stopped them. All my furniture was dusty and he told one of the guys to dust it but I stopped him because he was doing it wrong and I have antiques. Justin said he would pay for two women who worked with him to come out and clean up but I ended up having to pay them. They said Justin told them that I would pay and he would take it out of what I owed him. ($179). I did pay them but he never took out the amount from my bill. I have had some bad experiences with contractors since my divorce one year ago. I have had a lot of work done and spent thousands of dollars. I've heard bad things about contractors but I feel like I've really been targeted because I'm a female living alone. I'm on permanent disability with heart and asthma problems, and the contractors have made it worse. I can't even communicate with most of them because they just don't speak English. The tile in bathroom was laid okay but not great. Too much grout was used and they did not seal it. Now I have to do that. I have no money to pay anyone else--and no inclination! And I can't use my shower because I have no handles or shower head. I will have to figure that out for myself. His business is called Lone Star Plumbing but I couldn't find it online under that name or under his name. He was recommended by a guy who came out from Ben Franklin Plumbing to fix another contractor's errors.

Mr. Handyman of Dallas
1.0
I needed a small bathroom painted. I was told $258- $458. When the painter/handyman arrived the price went up to $758. He said because I needed one coat of white paint on the ceiling and a different color on the walls, the job could not be done in one day. I thanked him for coming and told him that price was too high. This is a small bathroom. I cannot not afford $758. He then told me there was a $78 charge for him coming out. When I balked at the charge, he called his supervisor. His supervisor called me. The supervisor was quite indignant and said, "We don't work for free." I said I wasn't asking him to work for free. Stay within the price range I was quoted and I would have him do the job. He refused to stay within the price range quoted. Even though $458 was high for a small bathroom, I would have paid it. I cannot do the job myself because of a disability. Although the $78 call out fee was waived, the supervisor, expressed how much I had inconvenienced them but because he did not tell me about the fee he would waive it. They made me sign an invoice showing they had waived the fee before the man would leave my house. I feel the supervisor's attitude was uncalled for because, yes, you can paint the ceiling and the walls in one day. Realistically in a few hours. It does not take a day for the ceiling paint to dry enough for you to , at least, start the walls. You can do the corner between ceiling and wall after only a couple of hours. I believe the supervisor was trying to guilt me into paying the $758. I signed the invoice but was not given a copy of it. I am worried they will try and charge me money because he would not put a zero in the total column. The only way he would leave was for me to sign the invoice. Now that I think about it, I should not have signed the invoice. I feel I was bullied into signing.

On 2 windows, he never sealed them up, no trim, nothing. On one I could expect not to have trimmed it out, as there was a door there, and more wall work needs to be done first. It could have been at least caulked and sealed. But the other window, it was a replacement, and the take out window was trimmed. Trim was available to re-install. I paid for a new entry door to be installed, with a storm door. The entry door is in, but it binds and doesn't open or shut easy. The storm door sits here, not installed. I paid for tongue and groove pine paneling to be installed in many areas of my home. In general it is ok, but we were using the tongue and groove boards for trim around doors and windows, and other places. This concept was started on the rent house. On the rent house, he trimmed off the tongue and groove, giving nice edges, which is what I expected him to do here. No, he just slapped it up with the tongue & groove showing. it looks like crap! Some of the mitres and other joints don't fit well. Where the pine comes up against some stone work in the house, there is no trim installed at all. I could go on and on. I have photographs to back up my claims, and of course a copy of the bid list with the amounts of money paid. Clearly showing that all the work was not completed. If Dave would have spent time on my job alone, he would have been done weeks ago. That was not the case. I never got more than 3 days work out of a week. Some weeks he would never show up. Other times he would say he would be here, but then text me the morning he was supposed to be here, and tell me he had another more "pressing" job he needed to deal with. I called him on getting to backed up quite some time ago, and he downplayed it, like it wasn't going to happen very often. Now, get this. I needed to do something done with the front of my house to spruce it up. there is an addition going on the front later on this year. He suggested I use vinyl, as it was "cheap". He came out on Monday July 22nd to bid a vinyl job. Once I got the price, it was much higher than I thought it was going to be, so I turned his bid down. I mentioned we would have to go another route, like maybe use Smart Panel. Reason being, I would have to tear down the vinyl to install my new addition, thus more labor, thus money down the drain. If I use Smart Panel, I can leave it up, and build from it. They were scheduled to come out on Wed. July 24th, and then again on Friday July 26th. Wed morning he texted me that he was too busy to complete my job. And had the AUDACITY to mention I could just keep any money OWED. He has been overpaid, since so few of the jobs are complete. If he were to complete everything, I would owe him $225.00. For me to get another person in here to complete the work he contracted to do, it is going to cost me over $1000.00 at least. When made aware that he didn't get enough done, and some of the things he did do needs attention, he said he would take care of it. When? He already said he was too busy to complete my job. I have copies of his texts too. What drove me nuts about them, is they didn't spend enough time here to just get my job done, when I thought that is what he was going to do. Another thing, he would start project after project, and not complete them. I have had a light switch he tore apart in my bathroom left open now for weeks. He told me he would sort it out, but he never did. I am VERY disappointed, and feel like I have been taken advantage of. I am on disability, and I hired them to do this work because I can't do it myself. To leave me with this job not completed, is totally unconscionable. What I don't get, why, if he is SO busy, did he come and bid a vinyl siding job on Monday. then Wed tell me they are too busy to complete what they started? I don't have the answer. I do have a few guesses. One is my job ended up being a "nuisance" job for him, and he can make more money elsewhere. What about taking care of customers you already bid and started work for?

What do customers in Dallas say about ADA Contractors?

It was really old and high up and I couldn t get to it. I was looking for someone who had a latter that was tall enough. It was a last minute deal so I just started calling people who were in my zip code on Angie s List. She came out quick. It was a job I could have done if I had the latter and it was a pretty simple deal. She did a good job and I was real happy with her service.
