Thermostat issue turned out to be user error. Tech didn’t charge for service call even though he had made a special trip to Home Depot to purchase a similar thermostat in case it needed to be replaced. Technician was very pleasant and polite, wore mask and shoe covers before entering the house. I wouldn’t hesitate to call on them again.

He was very helpful. I had purchased a $40 coupon. Upon checking my existing thermostat he saw that the Up bottom was stuck. He was able to work it and so far it is working... We called other companies before Quinn, but all were too busy to come out until later in the week. Our boiler was not functioning and the house was getting quite cold. Within hours of calling, someone was here. Sam called when he was on the way and was here within minutes. Sam was professional and courteous. Although the boiler seemed to be working upon his arrival, he tried to recreate the problem. All systems checked out fine. He did not pressure us to fix something that was not broken. Just encouraged us to call again if the problem returned, and they would come out and replace parts as needed. Very pleased with the prompt response and action. Will definitely call them again!

I was replacing the batteries in my non-programable thermostat and once the new batteries were inserted, the thermostat began smoking. I pulled the batteries and noticed the display had gone out. Looks like something "fried" the thermostat. Blind & Sons do all of our HVAC & plumbing work, so I called them to see if someone could come out to do an inspection. The dispatcher called and said a technician would be there within a half hour. 10 minutes later, the technician called and said he received the work order and was on his way over within 15 minutes. The tech (John Williamson - Tech #884) arrived right on time, was very professional and went straight to work. After looking over and testing various connections on the furnace & air conditioner, we was satisfied there were no other issues. He straight lined the thermostat directly into the furnace, replaced the old thermostat with a new Aprilaire non-programmable thermostat and tested everything. All working well. After an hour, John left as professional and courteous as he arrived and had our issue resolved to our satisfaction. Thanks John! The only issue I had was the steep price of the new thermostat, which Blind charged me $140. I could have went out and bought a comparable thermostat for less than $50. Total bill was $230.00 (which included a $90 service call). I used one of my $25 Blind & Sons gift cards so our final cost was $205.00.

ASK FOR "JOHN" HE PUT BOOTIES OVER HIS SHOES, WHICH IMPRESS US VERY MUCH! HE CHECKED THE THE THERMOSTAT AND FURNACE WITH SEVERAL INSTRUMENTS TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG. "OH HOW NICE TO HAVE HEAT AGAIN"! HE INFORMED US THAT WE ONLY HAD A 48% EFFICIENT FURNACE AND IT SHOULD BE 70% HE RECOMMENDED A AMERICAN STANDARD WHICH HE SELLS AND INSTALLS. THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT I AM IN MY 90S AND MY WIFE IS IN HER 80S .

When the first floor was completely rewired the electricians accidentally cut the thermostat wires coming from the ceiling. They replaced the thermostat wires but the furnace would not respond to the thermostat's signal. Different electricians from the same company came two different times and claimed the wiring was correct and the problem was the furnace or lack of natural gas. The gas company came and verified the furnace was properly receiving gas. The next logical move was to get a HVAC person over. I bought a 50% off service call for Broadview Heating and called them on a Friday late afternoon and left a message. They called back Monday to make an appointment for Tuesday but then called back because of a cancellation and ended up coming that same day. The technician, Kevin was great! He solved the electrical problem in minutes and then quickly installed a new Nest thermostat. Kevin was friendly, polite, patient, fast and a real pro! It's because of these reasons we will be calling Broadview in the spring for our new air conditioner. The same day of the service, I found out my parents also use Broadview Heating!

Recent Review: Aron, a service person from East Ohio Furnace, was sent to respond to a "no heat" situation with the furnace of my house. It was late in the day and he had already been working a very long day, but because the problem was rather serious, he put my call at the top of his list and arrived at the appointed time very promptly. I followed Aron as he methodically checked each component of the system, starting from the thermostat. He happily explained all the testing he was doing. I have a technical background myself and I appreciated his descriptions and they were all reasonable and logical. Two issues were identified. One was the temperature sensor that gave the unit its indication that the flame was on. That required cleaning and he showed me how to do that and said it should be done every year. The second was identified as the thermostat itself. I could understand why the contacts were bad since the thermostat had been turning on and off every few minutes, which was the symptom that there was something wrong. I was told to replace the thermostat or he could replace it. The price for him to put his thermostat in was over a hundred dollars. I could have done it for half that cost myself, but decided to have the entire job completed by them so there could be no question if a problem developed in the future. (The furnace had a history of problems and I wanted the one-year warrantee to be in full force.) As with the rest of the work, he did it quickly and very carefully, taking care not to damage the paint on the wall and explaining every step and even the color coding of the wires. In a short time, the whole system was working and I was paying the bill. The quality of the thermostat was excellent. The work was done quickly and with all necessary explanations and advice for taking care of this in the future. My main accolade is for the person who did the service, Aron. He was great. The issue of cost was a little high, but that is company policy and it was not entirely outrageous. Fast service was worth it. After the first visit, the problem returned and so the company again came out and replaced a different part of the electronic controls. I watch the testing process and it seemed thorough. Within a week the system failed again and another repair visit decided that the previous part was defective and replaced it with another part at no charge. Then, the problem became intermediate and it would cease providing heat then work for a few hours. Two more visits from the service people never identified the problem but those visits did not cost me anything. In retrospect I would have been happier if they had not suggested that I should consider just buying a new furnace from them fora few thousand dollars. There were conjectures that something else might be wrong but it would be costly to take the furnace apart and check. This furnace now works fine. The problem only occurred during the most sever cold weather and when the weather moderated the problem stopped. I spent time learning about the system and realize that the number of sensors and the control process is quite extensive. The first service visit probably did fix a problem but I think the settings for the sensors were never quite right and so it would fail under duress. But, that is just conjecture and it is unclear to me whether the problem is the inability to deal with the sophisticated electronics or if the skill level of all furnace repair companies is about the same. I give positive feedback on the prompt service and willingness to have multiple service personnel return multiple times. I give positive feedback on the individual service personnel who made the attempts at repair as they appeared competent, friendly and professional. I give positive feedback on their willingness to stand by the guarantee of their work for a year. I will downgrade my initial overall evaluation since there was some problem that they could not diagnose and just buying a new furnace based on no specific fault in my current one was not a confidence building response. Ultimately, it has been two years and it is still working but has not been subjected to the duress of the extreme cold that caused the initial service call. I think this is a good company for most basic heating problems and would be willing to recommend them but if this happens to me again, I will call a different company.

Recent Review: Portman Mechanical had previously serviced my 25 year old furnace and I was impressed then by Tim Portman's professionalism. When the time came to replace the system, Tim provided me with a comprehensive written quote, complete with line itemed options and manufacturer's brochures illustrating exactly what he was quoting. He and his techs were professional, friendly, thorough and respectful of me and my home. I think that they went above and beyond for me dealing with a challenging install (crawlspace) and accommodating my requests. Overall, my experience with Portman Mechanical has been outstanding and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Recent Review: Juan Jr. arrived on time and worked for over two hours cleaning out and checking the furnace. There were moisture issues, rotted insulation, a bad ignitor, the filter area was not properly made to easily slide in a filter. He explained everything in detail, vacuumed out the furnace compartments, installed new ignitor, adjusted filter area, firmly attached existing thermostat to wall.
