I am dissatisfied with 60 percent of the shutters as designed. During the design process we discussed the virtues of internal and externally mounted shutters and where both styles would work with-in the framework of our windows. We also discussed with the Louver Shop designer the size of the shutter during the design process and how the larger slat would provide a better view of the outside. We chose to move forward with the externally mounted 3.5 inch slat shutters. Our goal was to have a uniformed look in each room in our house as several of our windows would not support an internal mount. Unfortunately, through the design process we were never adequately informed of the eventual size of the shutter or discouraged from the external mount approach for our application with the exception of one room (Bathroom). The poor design and communication has resulted in shutters far too large for our application. Several of the units actually sag in the middle and are very difficult to open due to their size. To the Louver Shop's credit they attempted to rectify this error by installing what they called a Window Sill Extender (Only after a very heated argument in my home in front of my children and to their satisfaction not mine.). The sag and the large shutters are difficult to open even after the fix. Interestingly enough I was told by the Louver Shop representative this is because they are heavy. Clearly they recognized the issue. The Louver Shop has never accepted responsibility for a poor design. They have stated they designed the shutters to satisfy my desire of consistency. If the designer explained the external shutters would be extremely large and would possibly sag and difficult to operate I would have gone with the internal mount, where possible. There is no one that has walked into our house and has complimented us on our new Shutter and no one has ever seen an installation that looks like ours. Incidentally the Louver Shop Website has no images of external mount installations that resemble ours. Of course, what I learned throughout this challenge is that it is my fault and what we have is a common installation. Overall we are very disappointed in the Louver Shops design capabilities, product function and customer service.
