Reviews in Cincinnati for Installing Lightning Protection Systems

RES COMM SECURITY
2.0
Chose Res-Comm based on another user's high rating, boy was that a mistake! Really liked the owner, Ric Mueller, who came out and gave me an estimate for the lightning damage-at first. Apparently he didn't take very good notes for what was to be done because installer had no idea what was agreed upon. Installer was supposed to complete job in half day (repair, not a new system install). Installed the wrong system and ended up having to go to get parts for the system originally agreed upon. Ended up taking 2 days to complete the job, 2 days that I had to take off of work. Installer was late both days. Final job was at least $100 over estimate. I left 3 messages for Ric to try to resolve the issue and never got a call back. Receptionist refused to transfer me to Ric to resolve the issue. Was told they didn't make any money on the job because I didn't sign up for monitoring, despite the fact that the estimate was based on an existing system repair not a new system nor was the estimate contingent upon signing up for monitoring services with Res Comm. For the price, I think I could have gotten a whole new system and probably something a lot nicer! I really wanted to support a local business rather than going with ADT or Broadview, but it turns out the small companies can be just as hard to get your hands on the decision maker as the big ones. Bottom line: when they were trying to earn my business, they couldn't have been more responsive. At the first sign of trouble, I could no longer reach the person that gave me the quote/owner. Almost 30 days later, I still haven't gotten a call back to resolve the bill.

The company scheduled us within a week, apologizing profusely for the delay, but they were slammed by a lot of people in the same predicament we were. The electrician came promptly at the time scheduled, worked hard to complete as much of the work as he could. I needed to order a specific part for my lighted china cabinet that had to be shipped from California. We also needed another specific replacement part for our intercom and doorbell. As soon as I received the part from California, th electrician returned and took care of all the odds and ends. After the service we received a lovely hand written note from the service manager, thanking us for our business.

First of all the landscape lightning was something I had been struggling with myself for a while. They came in and fixed everything and it looks great. It comes on and goes off by itself and it is very very nice. I had been trying to get the censor light changed with a couple of guys and they could not get it changed. They came in and fixed everything very professionally. Everything has been perfect and I have had no problems.

BERTKE ELECTRIC

Very easy to work with and resolved the issue in one trip. While I do think their prices are a little higher than average, they do not bill at an hourly rate but rather by the job. This meant that I didn't feel pressured to hurry the contractor along. He was thorough and courteous and did the job right. Overall, it was a great experience. They waived the trip charge for me since I was an Angie's List member-which was helpful.

Excellent service! The electrician walked me through everything that had happened due to the lightning strike. Would not declare a room safe until it was thoroughly checked. Very professional but also very empathetic to what had happened & so close to the holidays. Worked with me in every aspect. Even when the insurance adjuster came out, the electrician walked with us to help point out what had been worked on due to the damage done from the lightning as well as pointing out what work still needed to be completed. What is really nice, when we need an electrician again, the same electrician will work with us in the future. Every area that was worked in was cleaned up by the electrician before moving on to another area. Without electricity & Internet capabilities it was so nice to be able to call Angie's List for help. Sincerely, Vicki

QUEEN CITY ELECTRIC

I was given a much lower quote than another local company. Brian showed up early or on time for the estimate/work/inspections, even during a bad lightning storm! He put up with the City of Blue Ash making him to do an unnecessary pre-inspection (Blue Ash changed their rules this year and haven't quite worked out their kinks. Inspector actually came from Dayton so would give us two hour windows to wait - Brian was alway there right at the start of the window). He was professional, friendly, and didn't charge me extra for installing a new dryer vent cord because he was already at my house for other work. I would HIGHLY recommend Queen City Electric!

These people are great! Patti (scheduler) and Greg (electrician) were both a pleasure to work with and are incredibly accommodating and professional. I put them to the test because I was not an easy client to get scheduled! I ended up needing to cancel twice over the course of several months due to materials issues, reorders, and then more materials issues. Ultimately, the ceiling fans came in and we could get to work. Initially, Patti asked about my needs and then hearing that I had quite a few things on my punch list, told me that Greg would need to come by and evaluate how much could actually be accomplished. Greg called me when he was en route to give me an ETA, arrived about 5 min. early, and spent 90 min. going over everything with me and plotting a strategy to get the most accomplished in the time allotted. The man truly understands customer service. Everything was planned out and all of my questions patiently answered. There was no wasted time in this process, yet I didn't feel rushed in the least. By the way, this was FREE! Phenomenal! When Greg returned to do the work, he moved efficiently from task to task, letting me know what was going on each step of the way. I can be the chatty sort when I sense that people are good at and enjoy what they do, so I asked questions from time to time and always received polite, courteous, unhurried answers. He never seemed bothered by our interactions and kept up an easy flow of conversation all day. I also got the impression he'd been just as at ease if I'd have left him alone all day. When the 7 hours was up, all the work we had planned out was completed and had the look of being completed by a professional who takes pride in his work. When I need more electrical work in the future, I will be calling Valentino HVAC and Electrical Contracting.

Hayes Electric Services Inc

A single circuit breakers tripped during a severe thunderstorm on Saturday, however would not remain untripped - it would break again after merely turning on a light switch (after everything else was unplugged). The circuit happened to be our home office from which my wife works out of full-time - thus I had to get it fixed before Monday morning. I troubleshot for about an hour & in exacerbation started looking up electricians on Angie's List. I was a bit concerned I would not find an electrician on the weekend, but Hayes Electric listed Saturdays & had excellent ratings from prior customers. In less than an hour, Keith was at my house. It did take a while to find the root-cause (3.5 hours end-to-end), but in his defense it seemed to be a difficult to find issue. A metal piece off of the main box had was just tight enough to cause a short. Keith believed it was triggered by lightning, which frankly I was a bit doubtful (why wasn't the rest of my house impacted), but he said he'd seen it before & we've had no issues in the 2 weeks since (which by the way has included multiple big thunderstorms). I'm now considering using Hayes to install an "uber" circuit breaker (I forget the technical term) on my entire house - something he strongly recommended to avoid this in the future. I'm also considering him for a custom electrical job in my unfinished basement (new outlets & a new lighting socket run).

Recent Review: John called me back within 15 minutes. He was very helpful and said he could do it but thought it might be better for me to contact someone a little closer. I think his schedule was pretty full although he didn't say that. He recommended 2 companies in my area and I ended up hiring one of them to do the work. I was very pleased with them and they were prompt just like John at Lightning Rod Systems. I appreciate that he was thinking about what was best for me.

What do customers in Cincinnati say about Install Lightning Protection System?

William (the owner) and crew arrived at mail house at the exact appointment time and immediately began work installing the rods. It took almost 4 hours and the end product was exactly what I expected. The materials (copper) was top quality and the work crew made sure that all of the wiring and rods were hidden as much as possible. They were careful to run the wire behind my downspouts so that it coul not be seen. Overall, I would highly recommend William and WB Lightning Rods. They were highly professional and completed the job at a reasonable price.
