Our history started back in the late 1970’s, when I worked as a helper for a large heating and air conditioning company in Northern Kentucky. Many companies say they do geothermal (I looked at quite a few), but this company does it correctly. Very impressed with everything from initial contact all the way through install and clean-up. Recent Review: The installation went very well despite some nasty November weather that put the sub-contractor who did the ground-loop boring behind schedule. From the beginning, Tony Valentino was thorough and clear describing the options for replacing our HVAC system, from conventional furnace and AC to hybrid (heat pump outside paired with gas furnace inside), to geothermal, and he explained how power company rebates and Federal tax credits could reduce the costs or the latter two options. He was meticulous in calculating the heating and cooling needs of our house, which has cathedral ceilings and a lot of window exposure. He worked up comparative estimates of all the options, including cost of operation and potential savings. He was very responsive to our questions about 1.) the Comfort-Aire brand [The units are made in fact by ClimateMaster for the Heat Controller company and are thus virtually identical ClimateMaster models], 2.) availability of emergency service [Tony is on-call for regular and emergency service, and our unit would be familiar to other HVAC technicians who service Comfort-Aire, ClimateMaster, or other similar brands], and 3.) references [He gave us numerous references which we followed up on]. Tony had done two previous jobs for us, so we knew that he was easy to contact and dependable, always returning calls from his cell phone. Anyone considering a geothermal installation should know that these are crucial qualities in a contractor. The HVAC contractor has to coordinate his work closely with the subcontractor installing the ground loop, and the homeowner needs to be kept informed of what to expect and when. Once our system was installed, Tony did a good job explaining how to operate the thermostat and answered my last minute questions. He also left the work space neat and clean. He said he would file the paperwork for the power company rebate and that they would need to inspect the job before issuing the check. Sure enough, about a week after the inspection, we received a $1,200 check from the power company. We were also happy with Tony's follow-up service several weeks later to check on the system and make some small adjustments.
