TAKE IT FOR GRANITE LLC
WE WEREN'T HOME DURING THE INSTALLATION AND THE CREW LEFT (1) WOODEN SHIMS UNDER THE COUNTER TOPS, (2)THE SEAMS UNFINISHED, (3)KNOCKED A CABINET OFF ITS BASE, (4) LEFT SAWDUST OVER OUR NEWLY REFINISHED HARDWOOD FLOORS, AND WORST OF ALL (5) BROKE A CHIP IN OUR NEW COUNTERTOP. THERE WAS NO NOTE EXPLAINING AND NO PHONE CALL. WE CALLED THE OWNER WHO CLAIMED TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANY OF THIS. HE CAME THE NEXT DAY AND WAS EXTREMELY RUDE, ALTHOUGH I DON'T KNOW HOW WE, THE CUSTOMERS, DID ANYTHING WRONG. WE DID RECEIVE A GENEROUS CREDIT, BUT NEVER AN APOLOGY.

I contacted three weeks ago for an estimate on a repair. Four days later I received a response and was asked to send pictures if I had them. Sent pictures immediately. Over two weeks later I have not received a response to any of my emails. Not even a confirmation that my pictures were received and they would be getting back to me. Followed up again days ago with no response. Guess I will be going somewhere else. From the other reviews it seems that reliability is questionable. I can confirm that.

Builtmore Granite & Cabinetry
Purchased the granite countertop end of June and scheduled replacement for after July 4th. The company truck needed repairs so schedule moved back to July 15th. Removed old countertop/backsplash/ sink / faucet on 9/15. Template made. New countertop installed 9/17. ( 2-3 days needed to finish product) We had to fix/repaint a couple spots on the wall from the removal process and had to hook up the faucet and redo some of the pipe which took a couple days. The granite is beautiful. I recently purchased a piece of granite for the top of a table and had them cut a piece of marble to size. Looks great. Job well done.

The day before scheduled installation, the company called to reschedule because the material had not come in. Of course by then all the existing countertops and sink had been removed so we had no kitchen to use while we waited. After installation there were a number of issues. 1) The main counter was fabricated over 1/2" too long so they cut a hole in our wall and poked the counter into it so it "fit". 2) One of the seams on the main counter is flush to start but by the end of the seam there is a gap which they filled with epoxy, but it is very noticeable. 3) Two of the shelves have notches in what should be a straight cut. So instead of fitting flush against the walls, they have a gap. All of these issues are the result of miss-measuring or miss-cutting and result in a sloppy appearance. We contacted the company a week ago and they asked us to send them pictures (as opposed to sending someone over to actually look at the problems). We have not heard back from them since. Update: The company finally responded to our concerns and sent a representative out who replaced one of the more unsightly slabs - so I changed the overall satisfaction rating from D to C. He said that they had switched from cutting the stone using an NC machine with a router to using a water jet cutter, and they were having some issues with it. I would recommend that customers wait until they get things figured out before they hire them.

Matt was earlier than promised. He was very professional,friendly, honest, and extremely neat working. Matt fixed the countertop so beautifully that there is no sign of the crack whatsoever!

STONE STATEMENTS
Kathy helped us with selection of a slab and we opted to have them do onsite measurements. After the undermount sink and faucet were in hand, Stone Statements designer came over and finalized dimensions. About a week later the granite was ready and their installation team did the installation and sink mounting on site. We did the tear out of the original contractor grade sink. We did the final caulking and touch up painting.

They were great. They worked with me on the original price and then I decided to have them do more countertops and they were willing to add that work onto the original price and make more time for me. Even with the additional countertops they were reasonably priced. They were cheaper than some of the other estimates that I had received. The staff was very helpful, patient and willing to take their time and answer any of the questions that I had. The crew came out on time and were very careful. We ran into no problems with the job at all. They cut, finished, and installed my countertops. They turned out beautifully.

In less than an hour she helped me choose the material and pattern that best suited the look I wanted and my budget too! Nathan was the only contractor out of six that would even talk to me about the crack. The crack was over 12 inches long. He cleaned and sealed the crack then buffed the entire countertop to give it a uniform look. He went over the do's and don'ts of the kind of countertop I had. He was clean and polite. He cleaned up after the job.

CINCINNATI STONEWORKS
Our experience with Cincinnati Stoneworks was positive every respect. We visited their showroom twice to pick out a possible replacement for our laminate countertop, coming home with several samples and settling on one (quartz). The installation crew came out about a week later to do measurements and, within 10 days, returned to install the countertop (mounting the granite composite sink that we supplied) and carry away the old countertop and sink. The installation went very smoothly and was completed within two or three hours. I had opted to do the faucet, disposal and plumbing re-installation on my own and learned later that the faucet I purchased required extenders because of the combined thickness of the sink and countertop. When the extenders were delivered several days later, I discovered that the mounting holes in the countertop weren't large enough. We gave Cincinnati Stoneworks a call and the installer was back at our house within two hours to enlarge the holes. To say that we are pleased with our experience would be an understatement. The total cost was in-line with estimates we received from other places, so can't say that price was the determining factor. However, their service and responsiveness along with reviews from other customers led us to move ahead. Their staff and installers were friendly, helpful, and accommodating at every step of the process. The fit, finish and appearance of the new countertop is great.

She had everything laid out for us when we got there and made suggestions to help us. She made it very easy for us. She checked in with us and stopped by through out the whole process. Recent Review: The kitchen has remained mostly untouched since it was purchased 35 years ago and we are still uncertain how much money/effort to put into a remodel prior to selling. Jake was very patient and gave us helpful advice from his experience both as a remodeler and as a realtor's son. Much of his advise was actually not to his benefit - for our purposes, he thought we would be better off doing less than more. He detailed various options we could pursue and their benefits. This included doing nothing (which he thought might be the best route), replacing our outdated countertop vs replacing the countertop and refacing the cabinets as well. He spent 2 hours with us, gave us a lot of general sales advice during this time along with going over the more popular styles/colors that would be widely appealing. His countertop product (engineered granite) is unique, something we have not run across before. The available colors/patterns are not as varied as regular granite or other stone options, but there do seem to be benefits, including better stain and damage resistance - he also backs the material with a 10-year warranty (lifetime if the purchaser doesn't transfer). As far as cabinet refacing, this was the first time we really learned about it, so we don't have much to compare to, but the process seems like a good cost-effective alternative to cabinet replacement. Rough quotes included $4000-6000 for countertop replacement alone and $12000-15000 to reface/refinish cabinets, replace countertops and add new backsplash. He didn't take measurements, but we have approximately 60 square feet of countertop space. We still are in the process of deciding what to do, so not sure if we will be using his services. We were impressed by his experience, professionalism and courtesy though.

Recent Review: Jim made me feel comfortable when estimating my job, where other contractors made me feel like they looked down that I did the tear out myself. The majority of the work except for electrical was done by two members of Jim's team. They showed up on the days they said they would and always made sure to clean up prior to leaving for the day. The job took a couple days less than estimated and the price was exactly what was estimated. I felt the team listened to our ideas throughout the entire process and were extremely professional.

Recent Review: Everything was great!!! The upstairs bath needed additional preparation due to peeling paint. Jim scraped and sanded prior to Joe putting the finish coat on the drywall. In all areas of the interior, Jim caulked all baseboards and door frames, and filled all cracks prior to painting. Jim painted areas with sample colors to insure my wife would be happy with the selection (4 in all). The ceilings were painted white and the walls in the selected colors. Jim covered all floors and furniture and there were no issues. Jim showed respect for our things. Joe installed 4 new counter tops in the bathrooms. The exterior of my house is all cedar. Joe power washed the exterior prior to preparation. Jim caulked & patched the entire front & west side of the house. He sprayed an oil based primer to seal prior to the final color, again using the sample colors with trim color to insure our satisfaction. Jim caulked & and patched the back and east side prior to painting. Joe rebuilt 2 cedar chimney stacks and replaced damaged cedar boards. I am more than satisfied with the results of this project. Jim is meticulous about his work and will do whatever it takes to do the job right. I will continue to use Joe for work on my home and offer references as requested.

Recent Review: From start to finish every thing was excellent. After I called for an estimate,Mr. Dan Landon came to the house to see what needed to be done. He came back a few days later with an estimate. There were a few things on the drawings that had to be "tweaked" and he took all of the info with him and came back a few days with an update. After a thorough explanation of what was to be done,explanation of monetary procedures and an estimated start date a contract was signed. Mike and John were the two men who performed the renovation. I can sum up their work with two words. "Total Professionals". They were always on time and if they were delayed they always called and let me know when they would be coming. They always went about their work in a professional manner and during the course of the renovation if something up came they were not sure about they would always talk to me about it before proceeding. On more than one occasion Mr. Landon would stop by to see how things were progressing and would always ask if I was satisfied with what was being done. The job was completed on time and everything was just as it was supposed to be. After the project was complete, Mr. Landon came by to make sure everything was satisfactory. He also asked me why I chose him instead of somebody else. I told him of all the other estimates I received were mailed to me with no follow up. He was the only one that came to the house with the estimate and then came back to answer my questions and get my input. That showed me he cared and that is why he got the job. Mr. Landon and the gentlemen who completed the renovation were professional from start to finish.

I looked around a bit at different suppliers and Kemper had the most variety and had representatives more available to speak to us. They seemed a bit snooty, but they had what I wanted so I overlooked that. We ended up finding a slab of granite that was already discounted so we got it for a great price. We also purchased tile for our backsplash. I put a lot of faith in their design ability (matching the tile with the granite) and I might not have as much faith in them the next time even though I'm happy with my selection. The installer was the best part - very professional and timely. We had a sealing problem after a while and the installer came back out and resealed it for us - no questions asked.
