Reviews for Boiler Installation in Cincinnati

POTTS HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING
1.0
The service man checked the 3 year old boiler and told me it was installed wrong and needed replaced, said condensation corroded the copper fin and it was blocked, also advised high CO2 readings (I have a CO2 detector right above the boiler but he insisted they were elevated but not enough to set it off). He turned it off and said not to turn back on (was working) he set up an appointment for a sales person to come over and was pushing the Ultra boiler said that was the one we NEEDED. I knew from recent research on that boiler they are one of the more expensive boilers and require maintenance every year. I called another heating repair company I used with my old boiler and confirmed there is nothing wrong with the boiler and it was in excellent working condition. Boiler has been working fine no problems.

I have hot water heat. The boiler's pilot light would not stay lit. Therefore, no heat. The technician was prompt. He was able to determine that the thermocouple was not working. He replaced it and cleaned the boiler.

I DID NOT HIRE JACOB BROS. TO INSTALL A NEW BOILER FOR ME BECAUSE 1. THE BOILER THEY WERE GOING TO INSTALL WAS TOO LARGE(ACCORDING TO 2 OTHER COMPANIES) AND 2., WHICH IS MOST IMPORTANT, THE SALESMAN, AFTER I HAD BEEN TOLD THAT I COULD NOT TURN MY FURNACE ON BECAUSE OF CO LEAKAGE (BY 3 COMPANIES) TOLD ME THAT THE COST FOR THE NEW BOILER WOULD BE $3,000 MORE THAN WHAT HE HAD QUOTED ME IN WRITING. BEFORE I KNEW THAT MY BOILER WAS LEAKING CO I ASKED JACOB BROS. TO GIVE ME A QUOTE ON CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING AND A NEW BOILER. THE WRITTEN QUOTE FOR THE BOILER HAD BEEN AROUND $7800, BUT KIRK WILEY WHEN HE CALLED ME SAID IT WOULD COST $3,000 MORE BECAUSE HE HAD PUT ALL THE LABOR COST INTO THE AIR CONDITIONING QUOTE. HOWEVER, I HAD GOTTEN OTHER QUOTES FROM OTHER COMPANIES WHICH WERE IN THE SAME RANGE AS THE $7800. AND, ACCORDING TO ONE COMPANY, EVEN THOUGH THE BOILER THAT JACOB BROS. WAS GOING TO PUT IN WAS LARGER (UNNECESSARILY), THE BOILER SHOULD STILL NOT COST AS MUCH AS $3,000 MORE.

Wingate Mechanical LLC

The boiler in my home had originally been installed by Company A only 1 year ago...and they did a terrible job and it started malfunctioning this year. Company B came in to diagnose, and said that due to the poor installation, the burner and heat exchanger were both ruined and the only option they saw was to replace the boiler again. They estimated cost of $11,500 to replace. I came to Wingate Mechanical looking for a second opinion, and they happen to have extensive history with the make/model of my boiler. They disassembled the boiler, cleaned the components, put it back together and gave me a list of repairs that would be needed to fix the installation issues. I agreed to have the repairs made, and the boiler is working great and should now be good for the foreseeable future. I appreciated the honesty, the professionalism and the care taken by the Wingate team. I was given pictures of the components when they were removed and they followed up a couple days later to make sure the job was done to my satisfaction. I will not hesitate to call them the next time I have boiler (or Air Conditioner) needs.

Tom was wonderful. Very knowledgeable, honest, polite and gave me a lesson on how this thing works. He did a great job identifying the issue, repairing and cleaning the unit. Saved us money by finding a part that actually did not need replaced. Cost cut in half. Very pleased.

I'M ON A MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT. THEY DO EMERGENCY WORK FOR ME. THEY ARE VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY DO AN EXCELLENT JOB. THEY ARE HONEST WITH THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS. THEY DON'T TRY TO SELL ME THE HIGHEST OR TRY AND DO UNNECESSARY WORK. BEING THAT I OWN SEVERAL PROPERTIES, THEY ALLOW ME TO BREAK UP LARGER PROJECT INVOICES AND PAY OVER TIME AT NO INTEREST.

Wingate Mechanical LLC

Steve was very professional and friendly. He explained the process of cleaning the boiler. I have had several people over the years take care of the boiler but Steve was far and away the most thorough serviceperson. He drained the expansion tank ( which other companies did not do) and cleaned up after he serviced the boiler. He was pleasant and I felt confident that choosing Wingate was the best possible choice. I will continue to use Wingate Mechanical for any future plumbing needs. This is an excellent company because of their professionalism and technical knowledge.

National Heating & Air Conditioning Co

It cost $300 for about 3 hours of work for Scott to verify the repair feasibility. He was highly confident that the carbon monoxide leakage issue was related to the 1999 recall for plastic vent parts, which he verified after checking the boiler out. The balance of the repair cost included expensive stainless steel vent parts from Weil-McLain and his labor to do the repair and clean out the boiler while he was there. It took about 5 hours to do the repair. Scott ran the boiler to check that it was no longer leaking carbon monoxide using his carbon moxoxide meter.

Recent Review: After asking 6 different companies to bid, I settled on Willis as their sales guy, Joe, seemed to behave and respond the most professionally out of all of them, answering all my 'awkward' questions and generally quelling the various concerns I had about swapping out our 30+ year old boiler. On both days of the actual demo & install the team Willis sent (Shawn & Brad) were a credit to their company. They covered their access route with floor-saving mats and acted in a most respectful, efficient and friendly manner at every turn, again answering all the questions I had. The install looks very tidy indeed and whilst it has been too warm to test the system working at its full winter potential they had no problems in carefully guiding me throught the operating procedures and explaining the little tweaks I could make. Since moving into this house we have been almost exclusively HVAC customers of Apollo but their price for this job was over $3000 higher than Willis. Given the exemplorary service we were given on this occasion I do believe our alliegance has shifted and I can't think of any reason not to recommend them to others looking for similar installs.

Recent Review: My wife and I bought an old house earlier this fall, becoming owners of a hot water heating system for the first time in our lives. We had no idea what kind of maintenance was needed, and I weren't sure even how to light the boilers. I called Pott's first because the business's stickers indicated it as the original installers. I made first contact on a Friday afternoon, and the office manager set up an appointment for 8:00 am on the next morning. The technician arrived on time and set to work immediately. I had many basic question about boiler and radiator operation, and he patiently answered and explained the various valves, switches, and gauges. The system had been cold for a long time, so it took a while to warm up. Meanwhile, he walked up and down the stairs several times to assure that each radiator was heating properly, showing me how to bleed the radiators as well. At the end, he also took a few minutes to check out a gas fireplace log. The appointment took nearly three hours, and I gladly paid for the time because I learned a lot of basic mechanics in my new house.

What do customers in Cincinnati say about Boiler Installation?

It went very well! Tim came to the apartment and looked at the issue. He told me that he will place the order for the new and more efficient unit than the old boiler and install asap. Tim's crew came the following Monday to demolish the old boiler and installed the new boiler on the same day. The new boiler was up and running on the same day. It was a smooth startup!
