Chicago Wall Repair

Our retaining wall began to tip almost immediately. Asked Mr. Lopez to fix wall and he would not. Wall was built incorrectly with improper footings a drainage. Mr. Lopez claims the wall failed because my gutter were not cleaned properly. Paver patio was built to high. Water runs into house instead of away. Paver patio is falling apart.

Mike and Tony were awesome. They were always on time and the work was wrapped up exactly when they said it would be. They were clean and courteous about making sure my light carpet on the first floor was kept clean on entering and leaving. Mike communicated everything they were doing and listened to what I wanted. I had an old paint color on my walls that had changed in color a little bit because of VOCs (?) and Mike made sure to match it perfectly to the rest of the walls. I came home after work on the day they were finished to a beautiful basement! Very nice people!!!

Brendan was very responsive and prompt in coming to give an estimate. Pricing was excellent especially compared to other bids received. References were provided freely. Work began on time. Crew was prompt, courteous and professional. Work done in three days. Follow up call made by Brendan to ensure our satisfaction.

James and I negotiated the details of the work and the price entirely by phone or email, since I am an out-of-state landlord. James arrived to review the work at the time appointed. I really appreciated his willingness and ability to listen and understand what I wanted and to discuss solutions and price. He was always pleasant and professional. When rain washed out the original date to begin work, he was able to juggle his calendar to return a few days later. After the work was completed, he took pictures of the areas that were repaired so that I could review the finished work while he was still at the site. The work was outstanding. I couldn't have been more pleased. I would gladly recommend him, and I would definitely use him again.

Everything about Aguilar Construction is terrific. Mr. Aguilar comes to the site and announces the estimate on the spot. The estimate never changes. Not even when there may be modest additions and interpretations to the work. The schedule is set and the crew arrives VERY punctually. They know exactly what to do and how to do it. Communications is a strong suit of the team - both on-site and administratively. And, of course, they know their work - repairing walls and painting them. The cleanup at the end of each day and the end of the project was like nothing we've ever experienced before...like it was their own homes. We look forward to working with Mr. Aguilar and his team in the future.

I was impressed because it was very neatly done. There was no mortar laying around or bushes wrecked. Everything was done very efficiently. They were very professional and neat by laying down paper and if we thought we saw some paint on anything else that we felt didn’t need to be painted, they would take care of it right away.

Rotten railroad tie retaining wall was removed, new stone wall was installed, long weedy area along the house cleared out. Crew was great and the wall looks beautiful! I'm planning to hire them again to replace my front walkway.

Mr. Romen Zajac, the owner of Coast to Coast Masonry Group was very punctual and professional in providing his initial evaluation and cost estimates. He provided a series of options for repair of our basement walls, from the minimum necessary to improve the appearance of the deteriorated wall to a more in-depth repair that would be structural as well as cosmetic. He did not try to push any of the options on us but was very flexible, allowing us to balance the choice of repair strategies against their cost, without any pressure. While it is not easy to compare the estimates given by the vendor with those given by other companies, since each bidding vendor proposed somewhat different work, Mr. Zajac's estimate seemed comparable to others we received. It was certainly a more complete and flexible estimate than others provided. At least one other bidder was very aggressive and tried to badger us into choosing a cheaper repair that was purely cosmetic. The Coast to Coast work team arrived punctually on the appointed day and did a good job of repairing the basement wall and tuck pointing the outer walls of the house. They were very professional and polite. After the job was completed, Mr. Zajac personally inspected the work. He felt that the tuck pointing was incomplete in some areas and had his team return to complete the project to his (and our) satisfaction. He also felt that clean up was inadequate, so his team returned an additional day to more thoroughly clean the area around our house, including a careful cleaning and washing of our large front porch. Moreover, Mr. Zajac was extremely responsive to our requests. Customer satisfaction was clearly very important to him. Altogether, we were very satisfied with the work and found dealing with Coast to Coast Masonry Group very pleasant.

I have used a number of contractors since owning my house. Without a doubt Coast to Coast is the best company I have used from Angies List. They are a superior company in their trade and take approach the job as if it were there own home. I will try to articulate why they are such a phenomenal company below and why other companies should strive to achieve their performance. Reason for Work: I had a contractor over doing a very complicated job where there was a very real possibility that due to the nature of the job that tuck-pointing may be required. Unfortunately when the contractor did the demo damage to my basement wall was so severe, it was beyond the skill of the contractor to repair. The basement wall was in such bad shape I I could see outside. I have previously used Coast to Coast Masonry Group Inc. with excellent results and thus immediately called Coast to Coast. I explained this was a semi-emergency since I did not want rain and small pests entering my house due to the large cracks in the basement wall. Coast to Coast came out within one day and reassured me they could fix my issue and quickly. Stanley was the representative that came out and did a wonderful job of explaining the recommended solution. Stanley did not recommend a quick fix like some other companies may have, but a well thought out plan based on the damage to my wall and the goal of fixing the issue once. It gets better. They agreed to come out on a Saturday which was huge for me so I did not need to take a precious day off from work. They showed up at the promised time and carried out the work with extreme skill and professionalism. I closely monitored the process and not at one point was there anything that gave me hesitation or concern. The 2 tradesman that did the work were extremely courteous and friendly. Clean-Up was done so well I could not tell that they were here today other than the great looking repaired wall ! Fantastic job Coast to Coast !
