When I called, I specifically asked if they did metal roofs and was told that yes they did. It took over a week for someone to come out to my house to take a look at the project. I had to call several times over the next week and a half to try to get a quote. I never got anything in writing. When I finally received a return call, he said that a metal roof is expensive, asphalt shingles would be cheaper. I said that I had done my research and I was aware of the additional cost as well as the pros (eg. durability) and cons (noise) of a metal roof and I would like a quote. At that point he said it would be about $25K - and said in a manner that made me feel like he was picking a number out of the blue an they really didn't want the job. So - they didn't get the job!

Bob was the first contractor to deliver a proposal, the materials quoted were of good quality and it was also price competitive. Once I selected them after a few questions, Bob was prompt to set up a follow up visit to select shingle colors. The work started promptly on the day and at the time promised. The crew was curious and professional. They took a day longer than I expected, but no big deal. They cleaned up debris and balls meticulously. My only negative is that they did not clear the driveway after the dumpster was removed, do we found a handful of nails, but luckily no damage. Bob accepted credit card payment cheerfully, which is not common for this size of project. I recommend these guys without reservation.

Dale Haas was our contact from 123 Exteriors. He gave us a clear description what was necessary to replace the roof and an accurate time line of when it would occur. Dale gave us a week notice of the work date and told us the materials would be delivered to our driveway the day before. The morning the delivery man arrived he was concerned with placing the materials on one side of the driveway so to minimize the inconvenience. The work crew arrived at 7:00am and proceeded to tear-off the asphalt roof shingles. During the day the crew would pick up debris in the yard from the job. They used a dump truck as their garbage dumpster so the garbage from the job was gone that day. The job was completed by 3:00pm that afternoon. We were very pleased with the result.

Kenny from AJ Roofing came to do a general roof inspection. He found a couple issues and was very thorough and explaining what the issues were, and what the impact of leaving them as-is for the near and long term was. It turned out that we needed some work on our flat asphalt roof; Kenny gave several different options for us to choose from. After signing the proposal for service, the AJ team was able to come out within a couple days. The service was quick, efficient, and well done. No complaints at all.

I received an estimate from this company. I did not hire them for work. They were responsive in creating an estimate and responding to requests for changes to the estimate and to questions about the estimate. The estimate was quite a bit higher that two others I received for this job. That was part of the reason that I did not go with them. But, they also proposed doing something that I did not think was wise given the current state of the house. What they proposed was cutting the roof decking and adding a vent system near the gutter line. Since the attic is finished and there is insulation attached to the underside of the decking, it did not seem wise to attempt this procedure. I just wondered about their judgement. Even after excluding this procedure the estimate was pretty high in comparison.

Rain came about 24 hours earlier than forecast, so Arturas himself was on the roof at dusk to ensure the roof was watertight. The day after, the crew finished the job (as scheduled). The job also included new gutters and downspouts, and a minor repair of aluminum siding.

Recent Review: Scott Osmondson spent a lot of time explaining the work that had to be done to replace the old two layers of roof. He also went up on the roof to inspect it first- hand before submitting his proposal. His proposal was very detailed and descriptive of the required work and materials. He sent me shingle samples and included in his proposal pricing for basic shingles and the next level of upgrade, at my request. Scott did not push the slightly higher price option and left the decision up to me. I got five estimates. Scott's was in the middle. Two were significantly higher and two were significantly lower. The range of estimates went from $8,800 to $15,000 - a surprising range for the same job. The work actually took about four days. He took pictures to document the rotted decking that needed to be replaced. Scott worked right along side his men and supervised their work as well. I was kept informed throught the work. Scott and his team hand-hammer in all the shingles and new decking. They even tighten the naling on the old but still good decking. No nail guns were used. It takes a bit longer to do it this way, but every nail is straight and secure - no slanted nails. Clean up afterward was excellent. All the old roofing and decking was hauled away in a truck- no dumpsters in the yard. Scott treated my home with the care and interest as if it were his own home. I was very pleased with the workmanship and contractor/homeowner communication. I would use his company again and highly recommend his services to others.
