American Sale
1.0
Purchased a pool from American Sale 08/27/2016. Installed 08/31/2016. The agreement states that the customer is responsible for dirt haul away, however no one explained the amount of dirt that would be left once the pool was installed. American Sale subcontracts its installation crew. They arrived on time, and used a bobcat to get from the street to the yard. This caused major damage to the yard. The amount of leveling needed, produced a pile of dirt nearly 4ft high (see photo below). I contacted American Sale to discuss the damage and without apology I was scolded and advised to reread the agreement. We ended up spending an additional $700 to have the dirt hauled away & the yard is still ruined. I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service provided by American Sale. They were quick to sell us the pool, but withheld important facts of what might occur during installation and offered no apology for the outcome.

K & M Pool Services
5.0
We have bought a home with an existing in ground pool. The provider for the previous owner and others were anxious to have the renewal. We interviewed 5 and chose K & M. That was in the spring of 2014. It is now fall 2014. We had an automatic pool cover installed and weekly service. If I had to describe the best service, value, and attitude, I would use this provider as an example. I have high praise for them.

Morning Noon & Night Plumbing & Sewer
5.0
We contacted Morning Noon Night to assist us with the swimming pool that was developing in our basement. They stated that they would arrive between 10 and 12, and were at our home shortly after 10. They offered the hydro jet as an alternative to traditional routing that might work better for us because of the nature of the backup--there was a good amount of debris that needed to be flushed out, that a regular routing might not remove. In short order, they had completed the work, and our unwanted swimming pool was no more!

They were prompt and proactive in scheduling of the work. They explained how everything worked on the heater and guaranteed work to pass village inspection, which it did.

Joe's Pool Liner Service
3.0
They are pretty much standard. They were working in the pool so they were not dressed up or anything. They were cheaper than most companies that do this work. They did not take away the garbage when they were done. They just stuffed it into bags and I had to take it down to the dumpster myself. I do not know whether they were cheaper because they did not do as much work. When you put in the liner it goes around the rim of the pool and they need to trim the extra. They did not trim it. I had to trim the liner around the edge instead of it hanging out. Not that anybody can see our pool from the street. But it looks bad to me. They did not say any of that to begin with. May be it is my fault for assuming that they would do that. So they did not take the garbage nor did they trim the liner. They were real quick. They were here for two hours and they got it done. It was a lot faster than I thought. We did not have to wait at home for them. They did show up on time. They could improve by being a little more professional. They were just laughing and goofing off around. I have a daughter and had she be playing in the yard and I would not want her to hear what they were talking about specifically the language they were using. Not that they were going over board or anything. Probably you should not be saying such words at work. Overall the work they did was good. The liner looks great, and they did it fast. As far as getting the job done goes they did it well. I will not use them in the future. I rather pay a $50 more to another company and get the garbage cleared and finish up the trimming on the liner. They will not be my first choice in the future.

The work went fine overall and I guess I have no complaints. They are definitely on the mark for the service that they provide. They are expensive compared to other people.

J & C QUALITY POOLS
1.0
Terrible Experience!! Do Not Hire this company. JC Pools was hired after finding good reviews on Angie's List. End of March--The concrete deck was cut to repair the skimmer lines. When the concrete was replaced, it was such a poor job that I had him remove it. The pool walls were painted and it seemed like there was sand or something in the paint because it was so rough. The pool bottom had original repairs and James was to check to see that all the repairs were in good shape and sound before painting. He told me he checked and they were in good shape. The pool floor was painted. We have well water so we needed to truck in water to fill the pool ($1400) Right after the fill, the pool was losing water. I called James and he said to let it leak until it was below the skimmers. I hesitated because I wouldn't be able to vacuum but I did and the pool kept losing water. I called, left messages almost begging him to come out. He didn't come for 2.5 weeks, meanwhile the pool was down almost 3 feet and a hole developed on the floor where a previous repair was done and painted. He then found a leak in the lights and repaired them, also did a temporary repair on the hole saying he would permanently fix it and repaint after he closed the pool in the fall. The Next day I called to say the pool was still leaking, not as much but still leaking. He came 2 days later and repaired again. I assumed we were good to go so I trucked in another load of water for $250. Still the pool leaked. Repeatedly e-mailed and called and no answer from James. I then called American Leak Detectors and another pool company to find the leak. Three other holes developed on the floor of the pool due to the fact that JC Pools powerwashed to the point of weakening the prior repaired cracks and then painting over them. It took the leak detectors 3 different visits to find the leak because painting hid the holes. I consulted with 3 other pool companies that told me it was the contractors responsibility to fix this because the entire pool would need to be drained, the cracks fixed and repainted. Of course I would then need to truck in water all over again. Totally depressing because of the cost that would again need to be invested to fix this pool. JC Pools was of course paid already. I once again left a message to ask James to come out and discuss what he would do and ask him to close the pool. Have never heard from him and it's now August. The entire 2016 swimming season has been a disaster. I have never had this bad of an experience with any contractor and don't want anyone else to have to go through what I've experienced. I don't know where those positive reviews came from HMMM???? Don't take the chance with this company. They are totally unresponsive!!!! Not to mention shoddy work. This isn't the end-- I need to file with the BBB and Attorney General office.

Terrible contractor--DO NOT HIRE Pool walls were painted poorly, must have used a roller with sand particles because it's so rough. Pool floor is concrete and was painted. James was to make sure all the previous floor repairs were in good shape and sound. He said everything was fine so he painted. We have well water so we hauled in water -cost of $1400. After the pool was filled , the pool lost water. Told James and he said let it leak until it drops below the skimmer. We did and it continued to leak almost 2.5 feet. I called and practically begged him to handle this. It took him 2.5 weeks to come out. He found the lights leaking and repaired the leak with epoxy. Still a leak. Meanwhile a large hole developed over a previously repaired area that he just painted. He did a repair with epoxy and said he would do a permanent repair in the fall after closing the pool. Two days later he repaired the leaking lights a second time. I hauled in another load of water at a cost of $250. Still I was losing 1/2 inch of water a day and called again, emailed multiple times. Still no response. I then called American Leak Detectors and another pool company to look for the leak. Long story short-- it took multiple visits by a leak detector to find 3 more cracks that had opened up because they pressure washed too hard and broke open the floor repairs, only to paint over them so it was hard to find the leaks. I called James again and asked to meet so we could resolve the problem. 3 pool contractors told me to get him to fix this issue , that it was his responsibility. I called and emailed again and again with no response, even asked that he close the pool. No response!!! Seems he's disappeared. I now have to find someone to fix all the cracks, drain and repaint the pool and haul in water again. Using JC Pools was a costly error. Don't make the same mistake I did. I found good reviews here so that's how I found this contractor HMMM?????? makes you wonder where those reviews came from.

I was told by his partner I would receive a check in the mail, and I never received it. DeLondon Hawthorne is a scam artist. He was clear on the BBB when I started, but now he has complaints with the BBB as well as the Attorney General. Judgment has already been issued against him and his property has already been seized. He also goes under Aqua Harmony Pools and Spas as well as Aqua Harmony Swimming Pool Management.

I had requested their service for installing a pool pump ordered from Amazon. Unfortunately the pump I ordered did not work for my pool. J&C let me know why it wouldn't work, and showed me what is important to look for in the new pump. They then ordered a new pump for me, and came back to install it. The total cost was less than I was expecting, and the installation was very very quick. In addition, they gave me advice for being able to clean up my now green pool in only 24 hours (something I wish I knew before!!!). I will definitely be using them in the future.

ROSEBROOK POOLS
1.0
I am beyond disappointed with my experience with Rosebrook. We are serious buyers, and have in fact signed a contract with another company. We talked to three different pool companies and were going to go with the best choice, not just bottom line, but also design, ability to service, etc. Rosebrook came out for the initial consultation, and we were told he would have a quote for us within two weeks. The guy who came out was very nice. But at two weeks, I sent an email to follow up and was told it would be another week because the designer had been busy "out in the field." I waited another week, sent a follow up email, and then received no response at all. Another week went by with nothing, so we made our decision and moved on. I called Rosebrook out of courtesy to let the owner, Jamie, know what happened just so he would understand they're losing business and why. I was very polite, as I felt it was his employee's fault and not his. However, his response was plainly, "okay." So I said I would have expected an apology that they dropped the ball and essentially wasted my time. He didn't care at all. I am so glad we didn't get any further with them, as they are clearly not a good company to deal with, and they have zero concern for customer service. I would never recommend them.

TRI-CITY POOLS INC
5.0
The owner visited us and determined that the old pool heater was beyond repair. He gave us estimates of the cost of a new heater and installation. We elected to purchase the heater from In The Swim because they were offering a seasonal discount. Upon delivery of the heater, Tri-City came the next day, completed the installation, and removed the old heater.

Recent Review: Jeff at Geneva Pool Service has given us exceptional service after another pool company treated us poorly. Jeff came in and fixed all of the problems caused by the other pool company and went above and beyond to make everything perfect for us. He also educated us on our new pool and spa in a way the other company never did. He was honest and polite (qualities not possessed by other pool companies). I used Geneva Pools based on the exceptional reviews online and based on many personal recommendations. I cannot recommend this company enough!

Recent Review: We purchased a home in Tinley Park, with which had an in-ground pool installed by Sunset Pools & Spas. The owner provided the terms of the pool installation, including the salesman name, John Luisi. Since opening the pool, and being new pool owners, we had questions, so I called Sunset Pools & Spas. When I explained who I was and the purpose of my call, I was told that they had no record of installing at my address. I continued to provide information and was told that they would have to "do a little digging," and get back to me. Obviously they never did. I tried contacting them via email, but they have continued to be unresponsive. It is extremely unfortunate that a company would disregard their work and avoid contacting a customer.

Recent Review: Seemed exceptionally interested in selling unnecessary repair services. Wound up having an altercation with the owner, who seemed really quite full of himself and his opinions. His team had some serious problems keeping the water clear, and seemed to be dumping a lot of chemicals in it every week. I replaced them with another company the next year and was delighted to done with them.

Recent Review: Their back office seems disorganized, very little communication between office and service techs. The guys knew to show up, but didn't know any of the information or conversation I had over the phone. The techs that showed up were professional, helpful, and knowledgable. You'll just have to be willing to follow up a few times to make sure work orders have been placed, and re-communicate details with techs when they arrive. The techs do great work, you just don't always know when they're coming or what they're doing if you want more than the basic appointment.

Recent Review: Pretty good and happy with service. Was a bit disappointed that the first pool cleaning was not included in the cost. I felt for 350 dollars, that should have been included. I thought the guys were pretty knowledgable but could use some updates on my specific type of pool. I have an inground, fiberglass salt water pool. Overall pretty happy though and would recommend them in future

Recent Review: They have offices conveniently located to get the water tested and chemicals. They are very good when we call with a problem. They try to help us fix it over the phone rather than replace things. They are good at getting back to us, they call us back. The quality of their products is very good.

Fox Lake, IL

Recent Review: The heavy ice and snow from the worst winter in 40 years caused our automatic pool cover, track, liner, and light to fail. This happened in early February but we had to wait for ALL the ice to melt before it could be repaired. I called several pool companies and either their price was too high or they didn't call me back in a timely manner. I called Meier's in Fox Lake and from the minute the manager answered the phone, the entire process went smoothly. He came out the following morning to assess the damages and determine what we needed, etc. By that afternoon, I had prices and estimated install dates. I placed the order and gave him a deposit. Everything came in on time and work was done. Pool is beautiful and ready for swimming (if our weather would warm up). I tend to be a perfectionist and called Dave many times with additional questions I had thought about later. Even though this is his busiest time of year, he always took the time to explain with patience and professionalism. Their other quality that impressed me was dependability. When he said they were coming out, they were here. That's important these days when everyone is busy. I'm a very happy and satisfied customer. Everything went better than I expected and I recommend them highly. If anyone has any questions, feel free to email me and I'll share my experience with you.
