Recent Review: John Harman always let me know when the crew would be working. If I had a question, he responded within a reasonable time. He was able to work around a busy schedule (needed dead tree taken down first), and work to be completed before solar panels needed to be installed. He had good suggestions for replacing a window destroyed by carpenter ants, and a replacement front door. His team also worked around a carpenter's schedule who was doing other work on the property. His team was very well prepared, worked tirelessly (noted often by my neighbors), and simply did a quality job. Amount quoted below is for both roof and siding.

Recent Review: Outstanding responsiveness, work, professionalism, everything - I am very grateful! I called Willard on a Friday, and 1. A very helpful and straightforward person picked up the phone immediately; 2. A gentleman came the next work day to examine the job; 3. Willard emailed me a detailed and comprehensive quote the next day; 4. Willard ordered parts immediately upon receipt of contract and deposit; and 5. Willard returned in one week and did all the work in one day, so neatly and so cleanly the only change I noticed on coming home was that suddenly I had new skylights and repaired roof and siding. The windows and roofing stood up under a downpour without a drop getting through, and I now have amazing solar-powered motorized skylights. Every time I contacted Willard the phone was answered right away, and every time Willard came exactly when scheduled. The contract manager was kind enough to go through the entire job details with me and also to give advice on another structural problem with the house. This after I already had been left hanging by one "top-rated" company and ignored by a second. I am very thankful, and I certainly hope to use Willard for any and all construction needs!

Recent Review: The renovations went very well even though there were some challenges as the base of the camp is all fieldstone. Dave did a great job in fitting in the new windows in around the stone. Our main challenge was to keep the rustic look of the camp while adding the updates. Everything turned out terrific. Dave is a very contentious worker and always contacted us with any questions or suggestions regarding the project. We have already recommended him to several other friends and would definitely use his services again. 3

Recent Review: Interior painting: Tom Curren Companies has painted many rooms in our house at various times over the past few years. Tom has always been helpful in planning the job and recommending color choices. The painters have all been neat and professional, and never leave a mess. We have been very happy with their service. Kitchen remodeling: Tom Curren Companies remodeled our kitchen in approximately 2008. They replaced the cabinets and appliances, installed granite counters, and installed a ceramic tile backsplash. Tom worked with me to choose the granite, the tile and the cabinets. The job was done very professionally, on time and on budget. It turned out just the way we wanted. Bathroom remodeling: Tom Curren Companies has remodeled two bathrooms in our house -- the master bath and a second bath. In the master bath, they installed a marble floor and counters, a new glass shower enclosure with rain shower fixture, and glass tile in the shower and as a backsplash. In the second bath, they removed the tub and installed a tile shower, a new tile floor and new vanity. All of the work was done very professionally, on time and on budget. We have been very happy with the results. Handyman: We have hired Tom Curren Companies on many occasions to do handyman work, including inspecting and replacing siding on the house exterior, inspecting and replacing decking on our deck and screened-in porch, and fixing things in the house. We have been very happy with their work.

Recent Review: I went with Bruin because the price was a in the middle-of -he-road range, and the work they proposed to do was appropriate within my expectations (they didn't try to add in any additional work that wasn't needed). I needed siding for my house, and new gutters. They offers a lot of options to choose from and were very responsive during the quote phase. The entire installation took roughly a week total, and I was happy with their work, although there were a few minor issues with quality that still bug me to this day. For example, there were a few places where the installed trim didn't look perfectly semertical, but no one sees it but me, so I guess that is to be expected with my OCD. One issue was a year later I found out the one of my gutters was not graded properly, so water was pooling in the middle of the gutter, instead of being channeled to the drains. Also, another thing I didn't like was a year later I found out that one of the installers left their calking tool in my gutter, which was causing another clog (again, minor, but annoying). Overall, the experience with Bruin was great. It's been four year, and still no issues with their work.

Recent Review: Window sills are not easy to replace. If you are not careful, you can destroy the window frame. They were pros, they went to work, carefully cut out the old sills and replaced and caulked them promptly. In turned out that a number of shingles were rotted, too and they replaced those as well. I will have them back for more work.

Recent Review: In one of the units the butcher block counter was in rough shape and we needed some new cabinets under the island. They were able to sand and refinish the butcher block counter as well as install new shelf/cabinet unit under the island greatly improving the look of the kitchen. In another unit the drop ceiling was badly damaged. They were able to take down the old drop ceiling down and put up a nice new drywall ceiling at a very reasonable price. At another building one of the window frames/sills was badly damaged due to water. They came up with a creative solution to not only replace the rotten wood, but to cover the sill with sheet metal to prevent rotting in the future. The roof entrance at one of the buildings was in bad shape. We were very happy with the results of their suggestion to install siding to improve the look, and to prevent water leakage which had been a problem for a long time. The biggest project that Silmac General Remodeling did for us was the large roof deck. This project was complicated in many ways, but thanks to the help and experience of Silmac, the project went very well. We had to deal with Boston's Historical Society, Inspectional Services Department, and the cramped working space of Beacon Hill. However, Silmac General Remodeling was very patient, and helped us every step of the way, even taking time to repeatedly go down to the building department so that the project would not fall behind schedule. I appreciated that with each project, Silmac General Remodeling discussed all the details of the project up front so there were no surprises. They also discussed all the options we has with each project, the prices, and the pros and cons of each option. All the above described work was done for around $13,000.00 which is extremely reasonable for work in the city. I would recommend Silmac General Remodeling to anyone.

Recent Review: O' Sullivan Installs did a fantastic job residing my whole house and installing two new doors. The crew was great, always cleaned up before the end of the day. My house went from an eyesore to the best looking on the block. Would definitely recommend.
