There was no charge for the estimate. They responded back and they had a lot of good ideas. Their proposal was something more than we wanted to do at the time so we decided to go with someone else.

Contractor low-balled the bid and tried to hold us up for more money to finish the work, was never on time, began the work late, finished late, and while he agreed to one price to do work he charged several times more once the work was done saying he had miscalculated the bids. Yet the quality of the work was pretty good except for toward the end when he tried to rush.

Joe and Anthony are very professional and hard working. The pond, stream and waterfall came out awesome, better then I expected. These 2 guys are artists. Every stone was fitted and hand laid like a mosaic, an outstanding job. If you are looking to have a water feature put in your garden do not hesitate to hire Metrowest Water Garden Designs.

Couldn't be happier. Work occurred in 3 separate projects. Workers were prompt, professional, worked long hours with minimal breaks. Accommodated reasonable requests (changes) without argument. Pricing was very fair for the work done. Deck has maintained it's drainage (which required complex laser leveling given the confined space), and looks fantastic. Brandon is great.

Initially Mr. Howe was hired to replace worn brick steps and to landscape our front yard. Mr. Howe presented what we thought were great ideas for our original project and also presented us with ideas for further projects. Thus we expanded on our original plans. At the start of our project all seemed well. As the project progressed, a staff member who had been with Mr Howe's company for quite awhile suddenly quit. We would hear from other staff members of the problems they were having working for Mr. Howe. Eventually progress slowed way down. Part of the problem was the rainy weather, then even if only a threat of rain was in the forecast, no one would come to the job site. Later in the project, the crew would just not show up, and we found out from a crew member that the crew was working on someone else's project instead of completing ours. What should have taken a couple of months to finish only partially was finished even after 2 years. We fired Mr Howe at that point. As the previous reviewer mentioned, we were the family in Arlington, that was sued by a stone vendor that Mr. Howe did not pay. We also had a lien placed on our home. We had to hire a contract lawyer and pay out of pocket to get resolution and have the lien removed. We hired another masonry company to finish the uncompleted work, thus paying twice for the same project. We were so looking forward to improving our property but instead this ordeal with Mr Howe turned into what seemed to be a never ending nightmare! To this day the problems still exist. The electrical wiring that was laid by an electrician that Mr Howe recommended does not work. We will have to hire another electrician at our cost to remedy the problems! Unfortunately Mr. Howe and Landscape Design did not have any reviews on Angie's list when we were in the process of hiring him. We want to make sure that no one else is being taken advantage of by this landscaper.

We called Mr. Souza to estimate the cost of repairing a small water feature. We made an appointment and stayed home to meet him. Two days later, when he did not show up or reschedule, we called again to find out what happened. He apologized and said he would reschedule the visit. He never called back, rescheduled or apologized. He is a no-show contractor with no credibility to me.

We have lived in our house for 30 years, and most of our bushes had grown a lot, and were too big for our small yard. There was also a falling down retaining wall which began in our neighbors yard and was falling towards our yard. Judi looked at our property and met with us to understand what we were hoping to do. She and her colleague designed a plan, concentrating on our side yard and backyard, involving removing the large bushes, building a new retaining wall, installing irrigation, putting in a stone path and a small paved area to keep the grill. The early part of the project was handled beautifully by Judi, in terms of removing the wall and large bushes. However, she had not recognized how difficult it would be (nor did we) and this part of the job ended up being much more expensive than either of us anticipated. This accounted for a larger price than we anticipated. (The wall had been installed by a do-it-yourselfer 40-50 yrs ago) in a non-standard way with a non-standard extremely heavy medium) Judi was always available when we needed to speak with her. She worked around our schedule. She was flexible when we changed our mind. Her contractors were excellent, and she took responsibility to supervise access to our home when we were out of town. The side yard is stunningly beautiful and a constant pleasure for us. The back yard lawn was a little problematic because the lawn didn't come in well and needed to receive topsoil, re-seeding and a lot of weeding. The back yard is beautiful, and except for the lawn has been low maintenance. During the summer we often would go just to stare at the back yard, because it was peaceful and pretty. The retaining wall is a beautiful wall, and adds to the beauty.

Your Garden Curator
5.0
The team that serviced our house was absolutely fantastic. From the estimate through the end of the work, Your Garden Curators were professional, punctual, and courteous. They understood our budget limitations and worked with us to ensure that the items highest on our priority list got done first. They even hauled away the broken fountain and a dozen hideous garden statues left over from the last owner. They were able to fit us in quickly, and all of the work was completed in one day by a really impressive trio of guys who included me in any decisions that needed to be made while they worked. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

Allstar Landscaping and Masonry
5.0
All Star recently completed a large hardscaping project for our new pool in Wellesley. The project included several retaining walls, sitting walls, water feature, pool coping, and patio -- all done in a classical design with field stone, bluestone, and cobblestone pavers. We couldn't be happier with the final result - it's beautiful. The All Star team has great attention to detail, takes the time needed to get everything right, and consulted with us throughout the construction. Orli, the owner, had many great design suggestions, and was on site most days working with his crews. All Star is more affordable than many other landscape contractors in our area, but they still deliver very high quality and has the right focus on customer service.

From the quote: "This Service is our way of getting to intimately know your water feature. We use this service as a tool to diagnose and get acquainted with your particular water feature. We literally get to the bottom of it so we can properly educate you on what you have, how it works, what’s missing or broken, and any recommended improvements. At the end of the process you are left with a clean water feature, a clear understanding, and a written report I contacted NE Aquatic Landscaping to have our frog pond serviced. I was promised that all existing wildlife would be preserved. It was not. They killed everything save for one bullfrog. When I spoke with Tim he told me that tadpoles, frogs, toads, pollywogs, everything would be preserved in an aerated tank while the cleaning was done. It was not. Before they arrived my pond had hundred of regular tadpoles, bullfrog tadpoles in various stages of development, and lots of critters that presumably the resident frogs and neighboring toads eat. They are all gone now. On top of that, they never asked me where to dump the leaves from the pond and they took it upon themselves to dump it at the tree line crushing all the ferns that grow along the edge. So they killed almost everything and made a mess of the yard. I was able to shovel the leaves (and dead pond life) into the woods, but I shouldn't have to do that. Anyway, after the crew left I contacted NE Aquatic and they called me back almost immediately apologizing for what happened and telling me how they were going to make it OK. That was over two weeks ago and not a peep since. I am no longer interested in them killing anything else so we will figure out restocking the pond on our own. The quote for this service was $850. I balked at that number but figured it would be worth it to get the pond professionally serviced. It was important to us that the pond be as undisturbed as possible. As it turns out I could have saved that money and hired some local kids to do the same terrible job at a fraction of the price. This was a highly disappointing experience and a firm NO when it comes to recommending them to service your pond. If you care about what's living in your pond, please stay away from this company. I never received any written report. I was not given a post-service consultation to discuss next steps even though this was promised in the quote.

I am happy to give Wikworks my highest recommendation! Ryan, the owner, designed and built my backyard patio and garden and now does the annual maintenance for it. He and his company are amongst the most professional contractors that I have ever worked with. Ryan is highly competent at garden design and construction and has exceptional attention to detail. He and his team are always on-time, work hard and efficiently, and get the job done. They do exactly what they say they will do, when they say they will do it. He also does a great job communicating with my wife and I, listening to our plans and expectations, advising us about possible options or areas of concern, and adapting his own ideas to incorporate our needs. All of the work had to be executed in the middle of the city of Boston, which complicated matters. However, Ryan never let this effect the work and never complained about the difficult parking circumstances or the set of stairs that he had to bring all of the dirt out and bricks in. Ryan was always present throughout the work, not just supervising his crew of workers but doing much of the work, including precisely cutting irregular pieces of brick to fit. He also spent much time with my wife and I, helping us select appropriate plants and shrubs that would survive in our very shady city garden. Wikworks continues to maintain the garden and I plan to continue to work with them in the future. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any garden or landscaping job!

Recent Review: Contacted The Pros about our grading and drainage issues, and before anything else, they asked us what our budget was, which we considered to be a good sign. That we were able to schedule the work within a month was also a bonus. The quote was laid out very clearly, and in detail, so when Salo and his team actually were onsite, they knew what they were doing. The work was originally only supposed to take 2 days, but with the shortening days in late fall, it stretched into 4, but they stayed on until everything was done and cleaned up. All in all, we were very happy with the work Salo and his team did for us, and the aestethic and infrastructural improvements to our property were remarkable.

Recent Review: It was fantastic. He consulted with us for a couple of hours, and we took a walk through the neighborhood to get a good feel of what the design should do to complement the area. He visited again to show us his design and refine it. It needed minimal refinements. He really nailed it. Then he helped us find a landscaping company and mason. We picked our contractor and he managed the process. He helped us work with the city (fence permitting) and when some of the trees he'd proposed initially were unavailable (we did the job right at the end of the season), he improvised well. He even did the "little things" well, like having the masons lay the bricks for our walkway on their short side so they the walk will feel more antiqued. He was fabulous.

Recent Review: The roofing was done in about 3 1/2 days with the face of the house being striped right after in order to make best use of the dumpster. This part of the project was done in August 2011. THE DUMPSTER WAS NOT REMOVED FROM MY DRIVEWAY UNTIL LATE OCTOBER. The face of the house was not finished until November. The last of the screens for the windows that were reframed with Hardie Trim were not installed until August 2012.

Recent Review: Kerry and Tim are just the best. They are very professional, punctual and nice. They got all necessary Beacon Hill permits, hired a crane (2x) to lift up the furniture, pergola, plants and trees, contacted the fire department, got the city paperwork etc... A lot of work. And the best of all - we get plants that can actually tolerate the roof deck weather!!! We got a mixture of very pretty flowers - perennials and annuals, fruit trees, "entertainment veggies" - considering that our tomatoes might cost $10/each after the math... Kerry has a good taste, she brings the best of the local nurseries. They are just great people, pleasant team. Kerry tests the soil, adjusts the pH, adds nutrients (all organic, which I love). We hire them every year - they started doing our Christmas decorations, flower boxes, etc... The garden is also requires zero work, as the plants are on automatic irrigation. They are little more expensive than the competitors, but totally worth. Wisteriaand Rose is a family business that is just reliable and solid. I had enough of bad experiences with other cheaper companies - my spring flower boxes looked like a Halloween decoration…never more. If I hire Kerry, I know the quality is going to be excellent! No headaches, no bad surprises.

What do customers in Boston say about Water Fountain Installation?

I can't say enough good things about Carolyn and her crew. They were very easy to work with, came up with a great design, listened to us, and did what they said they were going to do on time and on budget. Job included planting, stonework, water feature, and lighting.
