The job went more smoothly than any other job with a contractor we have experienced. The workers showed up on the date promised and worked continuously until the job was completed (8 days). There was no mess left at the end of the day. The workers were skilled, friendly and professional. They arrived promptly at 7:30am and did not leave until 7:00pm. At the end of the job the appearance of our house was transformed by the work, so much so in fact that we have had too many compliments to keep track, and have made more recommendations than I can remember. The bottom line for us is that this job EXCEEDED our expectations, and we are obviously very pleased. Highly recommended!

Company owner Marty is truly a master craftsman of his trade and a stone artist. He works hard, cares about the details, takes pride in his quality work, has a friendly pleasant personality and is easy to talk to. He showed concern in trying to keep the cost within our budget by helping us reduce the materials cost which we are grateful for. He helped us in our wish to deviate from the standard stone colors to satisfy our personal desires, which made a huge difference to us in the finished work and we are very happy with the results.

Waterscapes is not a licensed home improvement contractor in MA although they claim to be. Their LLC was dissolved by the state of MA in 2012. In 2014 they registered the same LLC name in NH, but a new address in Rye, NH. This has been reported to AngiesList and they confirmed they are unlicensed and they are taking action against them. They have left us with a giant disaster that needs to be entirely replaced and us out nearly $30,000! Some digging in public records after the fact show they appear to have paid a $30,000 tax lien against the business the day after our checks cleared! Even though they list Groveland as their business address (a PO box) all of their actual business addresses are in Haverhill, MA and Rye, NH. They also do business as ?Custom Outdoor Concepts of Rye? and ?Village Green Landscape Company?. We had a very complex project consisting of limited access, demolition, new walls, lighting, complex drainage, stone veneer and a patio. We shopped around extensively and Carl from Waterscapes came in with a quote in the middle. They claimed to be flexible to work with us as the demolition was completed, showed some portfolio work and claimed to understand the complexity of the project. Their lifetime warranty was also a standout point. From day one it was clear these guys had no clue what they were doing. It took them 3 or 4 tries to do anything that was even remotely correct. There was not a single thing that they didn?t have to redo multiple times. Literally all of the work they left needs to be replaced as it?s incomplete and falling apart. Even though a design was on the contract to be done after demolition was completed they refused to do one, just winging it each day, often doing the opposite of what they told us that very morning. Their excuse for poor decisions and poor craftsmanship was ?You have a lifetime warranty, we?ll come back and do it over!? The project dragged well past their contract end date as they rarely showed up and when they did it was 1-2 hours a day. Even our neighbors commented on their pace and the huge mess. There?s many, many emails and pictures documenting the two months of their daily missteps and our continued disappointment with their work. The wall they did build need to be replaced because it was built wrong, is causing water issues and doesn?t fit the wall cap. The stone veneer they installed is falling off and sloppily installed. The wall cap product is defective, not cut straight or overhanging consistently anywhere. They hit our driveway wall with their truck, smashing the wall cap, then pieced it back together and never told us. We noticed a week later and they said they did it and would replace it? They did, and it looks terrible and needs to be replaced. They also repeatedly dented our HVAC by smashing into it with their wheelbarrows. Ultimately their employee, Casey, admitted this was the hardest project they've ever had and they had no idea how to do it. They had suggested drainage that clearly would have never worked and I had to explain to them why a single 2? drainpipe for 1200 sqf of patio and roof runoff was unacceptable. They were unable to come up with a patio layout that would work due to the complex slope and elevation situation they created. We could no longer trust them to work on our property, between the terrible work, the lying/damages and the fact they were nearly a month over the contracted end date. On December 18th we told them we would not be using them to do the remaining not-started items on the contract. They came and picked up all their tools (and stole and/or broke our tools from our shed) and left a dump truck of gravel blocking our driveway, which they refused to move unless we hired them back for the rest of the job. They refuse to refund any of the advanced payments we made for work they were unable to start or support the warranty or finish the work we paid for in full.

Even though we did not select Madrona Bros. to perform with work, they would have been our choice had we not received strong recommendations from friends for another company whom they had all used. Marcelo was professional and very responsive, even taking time on a Saturday to meet us at a local company for whom they had installed a pavered patio, seating wall, pillars, and fire pit to show the materials we might consider and the color options. I asked many questions of Marcelo and he always responded promptly through the estimation process. I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone that they consider Madrona Bros. for their landscaping projects.

He showed up promptly to look at the job, gave an estimate promptly, performed the work earlier than he had committed to, finished promptly, charged the amount he had estimated, and the quality of the work is very good.

Overall, the guys working for this small local contractor are fine. They care about the work and are pleasant to be around. That said, I don't appreciate having my project wait as long as it did. They would leave tools in my garage for weeks at a time, only to come and get them for another job before finishing mine. In the end, the stone work did not quite match the wood mantel and we discussed adding a piece of wood trim to fill the void. After waiting two weeks and paying the original estimate in full, Joey came back and finished it. My schedule is very flexible, allowing them access to the house during the day with sometimes little notice. The original trim profile agreed on could not be found, and I made it easy by agreeing to another piece of available trim. Without any up front discussion or approval, Tom sent me an invoice for the trim install later that same day. $260 above the original contract to install a $30 piece of trim that was needed to correct their own install gap. It's too bad when a small business is run this way. I will not hire them again.

I am very impressed by how they conduct their business. Everything that the other reviews said is true. The prices is ok (much better than a new kitchen), but the craftsmanship is excellent. All surfaces are like new, but more importantly all the details are well done, so it doesn't look like a it was done as a secondary job. All alignments are precise, no old material is visible, hinges are well adjusted and solid, no screw was put in loosely (like where you wouldn't look). In one word, a quality job. On top of it, very friendly (but not sleazy or overly talkative), punctual. When the factory delivered the wrong piece, Peter handled that very elegantly. When we pointed out a problem with the alignment of the backsplash to the wall, he came and fixed it immediately without any discussion. Definitely hire these people.

Sam is a consummate professional and perfectionist that takes great pride in his work. His employees are equally skilled, polite and professional. When Sam commits to doing a new job he schedules the start date upon completion of his existing job. He starts a job and finishes it and does not bounce around from one job to another. The guys started working everyday at 7am/7:30am and worked until 5pm/6pm weather permitting. This work cannot be done in the rain and the temperature must be consistently above 45 degrees to start. We met Sam at the stone place to pick the veneers and bluestone for the steps and pavers for the walkway. Sam started demolition on April 17th and finished on May 3rd, 2018. Sharing a couple photos of the old stairs (Sam is the guy in the lower left of one of the photos) and the new stairs. I have absolutely no hesitation recommending Sam and his guys. They were a pleasure to work with. In case anyone is wondering, a railing is being made and will be installed (not by Sam). :)

We were in the beginning stages of thinking about how to improve our home's entryway and patios. Our asphalt driveway extends right up to the back door so there was no real landing to set the entrance apart from the driveway. Our home apparently had a pool many years ago so the two continguous patios (separated by a 6 inch step) were just a plain concrete with a low wall on one side still containing metal pole remants from the old fence. We called MasonWorks and Jeff came by very promptly. We showed him the areas we wanted to improve and he quickly came up with designs that would fit the style of our home, an 1860s farm house. Within a very short period of time, he sent us a proposal and estimate. Since we were still early in the process, we were not ready to pursue the project right away. A few months later, we ultimately decided to go ahead and get the jobs done. Since MasonWorks had such a great track record for quality based on Angie's List reviews and because we really like Jeff's proposal and availability we felt confident going with the original proposal and forgoing other estimates. (We thus cannot comment on pricing comparison.) Bruno and his crew came at the designated time and the project was completed in less than a week. The crew left the work site neat and organized each day. The quality of the work was excellent. The entryway paving is beautiful. Jeff had proposed a 45 degree angle placement with cobblestone borders and we love it. The bluestone patios are absolutely beautiful and the wall and 6 inch step are veneered with lovely fieldstone. The bulkhead entryway concrete is now neat and level. We did notice that the bulkhead doors did not close properly at first. When we notified Jeff and Bruno, the crew came by and fixed the problem very promptly. They cleaned up the site and hauled all waste away. We are thrilled with the work. We found that it was very easy to communicate with Jeff or Bruno at any time we had questions or concerns so we felt confident along the way that the job would get done the way we wanted it. Overall we had a great experience with MasonWorks. We would definitely use them again and recommend them highly.

The job went perfectly from the start. They followed up the estimate with me and when I asked them to complete the project by 9 September, they told me that it would be no problem. They then proceeded to call me around the end of July and indicated that they would like to start next week. They showed up every day and when there were issues, they immediately showed me the problem and discussed potential solutions. They are a complete pleasure to work with. Also, when they had to remove a person to work somewhere else for a day, they told me in advance, so there were no surprises. They are extremely adaptable and just a pleasure to do business with. When they completed the work, they cleaned up after themselves and restored the area to the original condition. They then followed up with a phone call a day or so later and confimed by pleasure and asked if there was anything else we needed to complete the work.

It was a great experience. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The choices of stone are terrific.

I couldn't have asked for better results. Jeff really does incredible work. This was my second experience working with him and again, I am so pleased with the quality of the work. In addition to Jeff's great work, he offers very good suggestions to improve the renovation. For instance, after the stairway was taking shape, he suggested replacing a solid door with a French door, which would improve the appearance of the entrance to stairway as well as give the small condo a bit more light. He also gave me good suggestions about tiling, lighting and fixtures. I would not hesitate to recommend Jeff to anyone who is looking for quality craftsmanship for their renovations.
