Though I emailed a list of items, there was no response to the possibility of completion. Also, two guys came for 1.5 hours which is very different in execution.

I had a terrific experience working with Edian. We had an entire garage wall that was rotted from the sill upward. Edian and his assistant installed supports for the roof, removed the old wall, and built a completely new wall in its place. He also converted a window in the back of the garage into a new door opening, installed the new door, and installed the window to the new wall. Edian's craftsmanship and attention to detail were fantastic. He takes pride in his work! He took a sample of the existing clapboarding to the lumberyard where they custom-made matching clapboarding for the new wall. The total time from initial contact to job completion was about 1-½ weeks. I'll admit, my timing was good and my job was the right size (i.e. Edian had an opening in his schedule and my job was just the right size to fill it). Edian is communicative, flexible, and very easy to work with. He made sure to understand my goals for the project and then applied his own quality standards for an exceptional result. I highly recommend Alexis Home Remodeling and I will definitely be working with them again in the future.

We wanted to finish a room by extending a partial wall to the ceiling and putting in a pocket door. We asked for estimates from two contractors and Fernando's estimate was much better, so we went with him.His team did a great job, and the wall looks great. There were a couple of hiccups along the way: the job took somewhat longer than expected, and since we could not find paints that exactly match the original colors of the room (apparently it's almost impossible to make the new paint be exactly the same as the old one), the room had to be repainted which cost a little extra. Generally, they were very nice, and also hung our TV for us on the wall, free of charge. They also did another small job in the house (changing a door to the garbage room) for a $100, which we thought was a reasonable price. We would recommend taking Fernando again for another job.

Contracted with him in early July and doors not installed until early October. We contracted with him because he promised to install within a couple weeks. We confirmed with other companies that the two doors were in stock but he kept saying he was still waiting for one of the doors to be delivered. Poor installation. Door doesn’t close right, not level, and poorly installed, large gap down low. He promised on October 12 to come back to fix the problem. Still waiting. Tired of trying to reach him. The only thing he did quick on the job was cash my checks. I don’t recommend.

Sergio's Renovations
5.0
To date, Sergio has done 5 separate, major remodeling jobs for me. This number alone could stand as an endorsement of his skill, and attitude, but let me say a bit more. Sergio is not only a master craftsman and overseer, but also a man of integrity. He has saved me money by proposing suggestions different from my original ideas (when he could have simply done as I asked --- to his financial advantage). I have read that some people have had problems with getting return calls from Sergio (probably because he is in such demand), but please know that once Sergio takes you on as his customer, he is on-the-spot-available by phone, and he and his workers keep their commitments in a timely fashion. His men, always polite, work hard and continue until a job is finished. Over the course of 4 years, Sergio and his crew have renovated my entire condominium (5 rooms and 2 full baths), jobs that included gutting bathrooms and transforming them into showcase models, modernizing a kitchen, installing hardwood floors, and replacing doors, including pocket doors. His creation of cabinets and shelving were carried out to perfection and painting details were executed beautifully. My experience with Sergio has been A+ on all 5 projects.

After wasting many hours of my time they couldn't do the job. I had to go to their office to find out what was going on. The job required install of new door but in the end said they couldn't perform the additional work around the door. They are not equipped to perform anything outside of a replacement door.

From the initial contact through completion of the work they were incredibly efficient and responsive. They called me back right away to schedule the work, the assigned handyman showed up on time and completed everything in a very efficient manner. Very professional company to work with, I'd go back to them without hesitation.

We Show Up

It went great. In the past when I have tried to contact handymen, they typically take 7 days to get back to me. He got back within three via email, which is excellent. We scheduled a time for 3 weeks later. He confirmed a few days before - something I really appreciate, and he showed up when he said he would. I have used contractors in the past who don't show up, or show up hours after they scheduled it, etc, so he gets a lot of points for this. He arrived with his assistant who bills at the same rate he does - a very reasonable rate, I must add. It means the work gets done twice as fast. I was expecting it to take 8 hours, but they did it in half the time. They did an excellent job all around. Alan is very knowledgeable and skilled, as is his assistant. They get points for fixing a pocket door and light, which for designs, are very challenging to fix. I would absolutely use them again. From communication to performance, I would give him an A+. I couldn't be happier.

We had a fantastic experience working with Derek and James. We had a number of small projects around our house that we were trying to get done. Derek came out within a day or two of my phone call to survey the work we needed and walk us through the process and gave us an estimate for the work the next day or so. All the work turned out great, from the smallest project, installing a screen door outside, to the bigger projects, knocking down a wall to install a pocket door and doing a complete renovation of an old dirty garage. The team was fantastic - they were great about letting us know when they would be there and the work that would be done that way. They were always careful to clean up. When i noted some additional clean up that needed to be done, James came out right away the next morning and cleaned up. As expected with an old house, we encountered some unexpected issues requiring additional work - James and Derek were totally upfront about the pricing, why it needed to be done, and showed us exactly what they would be doing. I really appreciated the constant communication, upfront pricing, and commitment to the job. At the end of the job there were a couple more things that just needed to be touched up, and they were attended to right away without much follow up. Will certainly hire again for other jobs.

They were very responsive. It was kind of complicated work. We decided not to proceed with it after getting a couple of bids and hearing from people about the work that was involved. Their estimate was about $6000. They were very professional and seemed quite trustworthy. I would certainly contact them in the future.

Joe did a very thorough job. He first opened up the walls to determine where the leak was coming from and allow walls to dry before putting up new drywall. He told me he didn't want to put new drywall back up if it's only going to leak again. He was very courteous to the tenants living there making sure their schedule worked for him to get in there. He was very responsive and price was reasonable. I would definitely hire Joe again.

Really well. Although it took longer than anticipated because rot discovered once gutting began, there was always forward progress. This is a highly professional group. They listened to my concerns and did a redesign that successfully solved several problems. Cost was higher than anticipated because of hidden rot. Phenomenal craftsmanship, especially the woodwork. I have worked with other contractors and this company is SO much better than those others that they are in a class of their own. Good people who do good solid work.

Called Tim and received a return call promptly. He came out the next day to look at the work, gave some options and priced these the next day. Once we placed our order he ordered doors, took additional measurements. Then once doors were done he picked them up and installed them. All very timely. He was great about returning calls, explaining the work, giving options. He even took a call when on vacation (not expected, but certainly appreciated).

Recent Review: Tony was great. He was honest about some of the potential risks of lowering the mantel. He offered great suggestions, and did a great job. It looked as if it was never touched when he left. He was always pleasant to speak with and cleaned up after each project. I would hire Tony again without hesitation for any job!

Recent Review: Be advised this process is taking longer than I thought it would by the time they did the estimate and contracted the work. If you're going to get a new door installed be sure to have plenty of time before winter sets in since it is a long process. I did sign a contract with them and I'm waiting for the work to be completed. My front door is a little complicated and they are not a standard size and felt this company tried to match the door the best they could to prevent me from having to pay for a custom door which would have been expensive. The owner of the company came to my house to do the estimate and he took the time to show me some things about my vinyl windows even though that was not why he was there. I thought this was a nice extra touch for the owner to still be doing actual estimates.

Recent Review: Dan stands above other handyman I’ve hired. A pocket door to a bathroom was erratic, it would jam or drop to the floor and neither open or close. After rehanging the door, it would slide for a day or two before again jamming. A carpenter tried and failed to solve the problem. I feared that the entire door and its frame needed to be removed and replaced. I contacted Handy for Hire, they responded, we agreed on a time for Dan and he arrived as planed. He spent some time analyzing the door and the mechanism on which it hangs. He identified the problem. The thread on one of the door’s adjustment screws was wearing - it would support the door for a short while before it again slipped from the screw. Dan’s next contribution was to take the mechanism home, weld a more sturdy screw onto the mechanism, return and install it on the door. Problem solved. I was impressed by Dan’s analysis of the problem and the ingenuity of the fix. A super handyman!

Recent Review: The doors were replaced fine. I'd asked that he stain/finish the doors, which he agreed to. However, he only applied polyurethane to the outside of the exterior door...no stain or finish otherwise. Also, he did not read the install instructions on the doggy doors, installing them too low so that our large dogs need to scrunch down in order to go through the openings.

Recent Review: As you know there are many window companies today making replacement windows and sliders. However, they are not all the same product and should be well compared before making a purchase if you are planning to stay in your house for a long time! My wife and I wanted to replace our 35 year old Kitchen?Pella Slidding Doors that had single pane glass twice with mini blinds in between them. They were a top of the line product 35 years ago at a cost of $800.00 The biggest problem with them?always was, the sun coming in made the kitchen hot and the cold winter penetrated thru the frame and the floor felt like ice around these doors. After looking at product in Lowes and Home Depot, somebody told us to look at the Anderson product in The Renewal Division, that is was differently made . So we did, call the Northborough, Ma. Team that handles the Stoughton area and made an appointment for Mark Salem to come to the house. He is a true gentleman! What we thought to be an hour visit turned out to be three hours plus. A very well made presentation took place and we made our purchase. Mark guaranteed that no more hot/cold would be a problem with these new replacement doors. A deposit was given and the balance was financed at 0% over 12 months, was very easy. The doors were being custom made in Missouri, USA and would take perhaps eight to twelve weeks before installation. The call came and they were on the way to install our new doors. We did explain to Mark and the man that came to measure the space, that our home was built in 1976/1977 and had T-1Eleven with cedar shingle over that with 3/4 inch styrofoam insulation and vinyl siding. I was very concerned how the finish would look. I was told not to worry that it would be perfect. So the 2 guys that came were on time and Mark showed up a couple of hours later as I had asked him to be there for this job! They began to remove the old doors and that went well until they got to the metal flange that was under all the over-layments. My guess for their frustration was that it took them every bit of 8 hours start to finish and they thought perhaps it was a 3 to 4 hour job. The teams of people working at Renewal by Andersen can only work for this company exclusive and do know what they are doing. I stood there and watched it all. I had the product Water & Ice put all around the new door before it went in. The finish work had to have a little of my input as I am very fussy, the guys eagerly made my requests go easy. In finishing, the sun does not make the kitchen hot nor the winter cold, and there is a silence now I did not have with The Pella Doors. I referred this company to some friends that did window replacement with them and I got a gift from them, was very cool. I am not sure if this "Team" handles the north shore as I know people whom had a terrible experience, ours was truly great and I would recommend Renewal by Andersen of Northborough, Ma. highly! Thank you.
