Recent Review: Jim is great! He really knows what he is doing, is honest and goes the extra mile for his client. The only issue I had is that the replacement moulding wasn't sanded and ready to be painted. Everything else was perfect!

Recent Review: I can not say enough positives about my experience with RJ Scalzi and Sons. If A+ were an option they would have received one in all the above categories. Matt and his crew were always polite, professional and wanted to be sure that I was pleased with what they did. Matt was very quick to respond to my first call and came the next day to do an estimate of the job. The estimate seemed fair, and I asked him to do the work. When I added more work to the original contract, Matt was pleased to do it. He also tried to keep the costs down as well. Matt always called to let me know when they were coming. They always arrived when they said they would. Matt and his staff were always very responsive to my questions or concerns. The north end of my house finally looks great. A wooden fire escape had been removed several years ago, and the repair job did not look good. The new black shutters are beautiful too. The trim around the windows and doors finally make the three season porch addition look finished. I was very pleased with the completed work and with my experience with Matt and his crew. I highly recommend them without reservation to anyone who needs work to be done by skillful professionals.

Recent Review: We shopped around for painters for about a year, getting quotes from nearly 10 different companies. We chose Boston Painting because they were competitively priced, knowledgeable, and had the skills to do the full scope of the project (painting and carpentry). They showed up early every day (never arrived later than 8 am) and stayed until 6 PM on several occasions to make sure they kept to the timeline they promised. They were extremely detailed painters, and they performed the carpentry we needed that included replacing some rotted trim as well as completely rebuilding the rotted sill and underneath of one of our windows. We worked with Santiago, and I would recommend him, his team, and Boston Painting to anybody looking for quality work at a fair price.

Recent Review: Bruin is a great company. This is the second job we've hired them for. The only issue we had was related to the materials they used, NOT them as a company. The storm doors they installed had a known issue with broken open/lock mechanisms. They came out to replace them once, but they've never really worked correctly. Also, our toddler broke through the screen with only a couple of hits - I would have expected higher quality materials from Bruin. Matt is prompt, his workers are professional, and the cost is very reasonable. We will use them again.

Recent Review: Overall my experience with Mr. Handyman was positive. I placed an inquiry online on their website, and Marisa responded quickly by phone and we arranged for Joe (the owner) to come assess the jobs on site. Joe was very responsive, friendly and professional. He was easy to communicate with by email and phone to coordinate appointments. My only criticism is that he seemed to forget things (i.e., some parts of the job we discussed did not make it into the estimate; I had to remind him of an item that was on the estimate but which he had forgotten; and then a separate item listed in the estimate was not completed initially). To his credit, when I pointed out what was not completed, he later sent a tech to finish the job at no additional cost.

Recent Review: The particular challenges of the many renovation and repair problems in this old apartment are never ending...so we expect a long and happy relationship with Alan and "We Show Up" .That said, it will be pleasure to entertain a long relationship with a real pro. After consulting with Alan way back in the Spring of 2011, it was not until October that we were finally able to actually start work! Alan stayed in touch with us as the weeks turned to months and the job(s) we had agreed upon initially, continued to change in scope and form. Alan always showed himself to be flexible, and honest about his time, commitments, and experience. Where work didn't have to be done, or could be accomplished with less expense and effort - he SAID SO! - Never resorting to the "hard-sell" Not only does he SHOW UP. He LISTENS!!! And he ANSWERS! Fortunately, Alan utilizes email and modern communication to stay in touch with his customers: and answered within 24 hours or LESS! Once work had begun, he arrived promptly and was prepared. His assistant, Dave was, likewise, a pleasure to work with, always upbeat, careful and considerate - and VERY CAPABLE! Together they formed a reliable, responsive team that never lost site of the fact that they were in the middle of someone's home! NO RADIOS BLASTING or unnecessary noise or loud yelling. Alan treated OUR house...as if it was HIS.He met each task with sound advice, competence and patience. If we had issues or concerns about some aspect of the repairs, he was always polite and patient and offered answers and solutions. He was up front about the kind of work he did - and did NOT do - and offered names and resources whenever possible. The electrician he suggested was likewise, jovial, competent, reliable and mindful of our costs. Alan and his colleague Dave undertook an incredibly difficult (and dangerous) job wallpapering our old 10 feet high ceilings - a daunting challenge. They worked hard and long - with precision and care. The results were beyond our expectations. At the end of every work day, they cleaned up the area meticulously - even washing the kitchen floor to remove any traces of plaster dust and/or debris! We have spent many hours gazing in satisfaction at the result of their handiwork and efforts. And we are looking forward to working with Alan and "We Show Up" well into the future...

Recent Review: Our Victorian house built in 1913 had ice dams in the winter and leaking into some of the windows, plus a large, open area in front of the house under the roof where boards had rotted. We had called other contractors, but they were not responsive. Ed McDonald came out to give us an estimate right after I called. He scheduled the work for a time that was most convenient for us, and kept in touch by email while the work was being done, explaining everything and updating us about any problems encountered - such as the fact that many of the rafters were rotted and needed their tail ends replaced. He and his crew were knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, a pleasure to have around. The crew worked hard, with care and precision, coming even on Saturdays, and regularly cleaning up the site. They did a beautiful job and the house looks so much better. We feel very reassured that we will not have further leaks. We are happy with the work done and impressed by the professionalism of Ed and his crew. We are so glad to have found McDonald Contracting.
