Mixed. A very solid value on the cabinet and counter top materials - easily better than some of the home improvement stores. Follow up service can be a bit of a challenge. Initial ordering process was very smooth, but the wrong cabinets were delivered. Based on the paper work I had in hand, this looks like a factory error and the correction was fairly prompt. Dan did us a favor that backfired by recommending a friend of his as a general contractor. Price was right, but the friend was not and we ended up firing him at the last minute and acting as own general contractor. Follow up on a few missing and replacement parts was slow, requiring multiple reminders. Final billing was off a few dollars. All eventually fixed to our satisfaction, but took a little work that I would have preferred to avoid. Went back to order some matching stock a few months later and after a few weeks of not receiving it and a few reminder calls we decided to go to another vendor, where the order was filled in a week.

Merlin Handyman
It was a weird experience. He showed up when he said he would, and he barely spoke to me. I wanted to discuss how he was going to do the job, which was a little tricky due to the size of the handles, and I found him very hard to communicate with. He spent well over an hour, made a paper template and punched a hole in the finish of one of the cabinet doors. Then he left, and called me from the road saying he did not have the right tools. He finally called back three days later, asking me to leave his drill and other tools outside so that he could pick them up. I think the job was just beyond his skill level, but I wish he had told me that before putting a permanent mark in one of the cabinet doors. I know he has gotten good marks on here, but my own experience was just not very positive.

Our contractor did not do custom cabinets which we needed, and suggested Tony. My husband and I both liked Tony upon our initial meeting, so we decided to work with him. We spent a lot of time going over cabinet styles and details - our kitchen was rather complicated - and he was very helpful. He provided us with plans for the cabinets and lighting that the contractor used for the installation. Tony was a pleasure to work with. He dropped off door samples and color samples at our house. There was a point in the middle of construction when our contractor landed in the hospital and I panicked (since the workers only spoke Portuguese and I only spoke English). Tony came over and translated for us and kept everyone on an even keel. He came over once our cabinets were installed and tweaked the doors so that everything lined up perfectly, and reinstalled the under-cabinet lighting which had been incorrectly done by the electrician. Several of the cabinet doors were damaged during shipping, and he replaced them promptly. I would work with him again in a heartbeat.

We recently did a complete kitchen renovation. Our contractor guided us to Sara Hawkins and Carole industries and we couldn't have been happier. Sara did a great job providing us with an education on the process and very quickly produced a preliminary design. After several tweaks and meetings we went forward with project. Communication was outstanding. The cabinets, Hardware and countertops arrived on time and nearly flawless. We incoporated many of Sara's ideas and her knowledge was intstrumental in having our project come out so great.

In general, the work was done professionally and with high quality. The cabinets and countertops look great and are good quality for the money. The folks at Cabinet Outlet were pleasant to deal with during the selection and installation process. After installation, there was a scratched cabinet door that was replaced immediately. One of the cabinets was measured incorrectly and had to be re-built, causing a couple of weeks delay, but we had no difficulty getting it resolved. There were several cabinet knobs that were not delivered on time, and we had to call a few times to finally get the knobs sent to us. But the company was pleasant to deal with throughout and now everything is complete and looks great. In some areas, the company went beyond expectations in the work, providing extra features in the cabinets and working well with other contractors, such as the plumber and floor installer. Throughout the process, communications were friendly and productive.

Shaun is absolutely amazing, as is his team. I interviewed MANY carpenters and AV installers, and Needham Woodworking differentiated itself from the beginning. Shaun is extremely articulate and responsive – and communicates effectively by both phone and e-mail. He also had the most creative solutions to the problems I was able to solve. He: * Helped us select the cabinet doors that would blend best with the look of our home (correctly steering us away from an overly complicated design that others had endorsed). * Built cabinets around floor heaters that masked the visual problem posed by the heaters while letting the heat escape. * Blended in the built-in bookcases in with the décor of our room by adding a hand-painted coat in addition to the spray painted coat. Brought two samples and changed both technique and paint color midstream to ensure that the bookcase finish would blend well with our room. * Suggested a site where we could find a broad range of cabinet knobs and provided thoughts on the choice of cabinet knobs. * Identified the two pieces of molding that could be connected together to a) look nice, and b) sit as close as possible to the wall while still masking a below-ceiling electronic screen. * Installed the molding in an extremely innovative way that would allow us to a) skip hiring a small guy to crawl through the ceiling cavity to help install it, and b) reach the electronic screens for repairs without having to break the molding or get a guy in the ceiling to unbolt it. * Recommended the best way to install the video projector that’s hidden above the kitchen cabinets and pokes through to the living room. * Adjusted the projector mount to match the image to the screen post-installation. Shaun is not only talented, hardworking, and an excellent entrepreneur. He’s the only contractor I’ve ever given keys and trusted to handle a job while I was out of town. Enough said.

Roma Home Painting
We hired Roma to help face lift our kitchen. We had the dreaded Oak cabinets that were in great shape but we wanted a different more modern look. Gabriel and his team sprayed our existing oak cabinets, flattened and painted a popcorn ceiling, painted all the trim, doors, and walls, and installed our new cabinet hardware. We chose Roma after talking with numerous contractors because they have experience with lacquer paint and top notch spray equipment. Gabriel is great to work with. He is responsive, understanding. The team showed up on time every day and worked hard and long days. Minor touchups and corrections were done with no question asked. Gabriel is really dedicated to making his customers happy. The results are outstanding and we are very happy. We plan to hire Roma for our next painting projects as well.

Duncan Kitchen & Bath
I worked with Chris to design my new kitchen with her computer design programs. She was very patient with me as we changed the design a number of times over about a month. At this point I had computer generated pictures of what my kitchen would look like when finished. When the Kitchen was completed it was spot on to these virtual pictures. She also worked with me to pick the cabinets styles and color, cabinet hardware and granite top color. The actual work took 5 weeks, the old kitchen was demolished in only two days. Most of the work was done in the next three weeks. The only work I had to do was paint the walls and ceilings, which was quite easy since there was no ceramic tiles on the floor or cabinets on the walls when I did the painting. They had given me a heads up that I would have two days to do the work. When the job was complete Joe and his crew cleaned up the kitchen and any other mess they had created. I plan on using Duncan Kitchen and Bath to remodel my down stairs dining room and upstairs bath in the next year.

Recent Review: We worked with Santa and I can't say enough good things about the process. We had started pricing cabinets at Home Depot and one other vendor that worked with our contractor often. I almost didn't keep the initial design appointment with Santa b/c I hit it off with the first designer and since he worked with my contractor I figured I'd go with him. I'm so glad I kept my appt with Santa! Not only did she have better ideas - but it turned out that the other vendor completely blew off my first design consultation. He had forgotten about it. Not only was Santa's design better, but she was so responsive and very easy to reach via phone or email (which is my preferred contact method). There was no sales pressure and in fact she worked hard to make our design work with all stock cabinets when I was prepared to have to do something at least semi-custom. The cost came out to be what we had priced at home depot, yet we got Santa's expertise and insight and lost of fabulous suggestions. It came in handy on more than one occasion. Because I was in a hurry, I ordered the cabinets before demo. Demo revealed that we had to work around some issues and Santa came up with a great work around for our contractor that allowed us to keep our cabinet order and also work out better for our design. I wish our contractor was as good as Santa. We had the contractor who was doing structural work in our kitchen install the cabinets, and it was a big mistake. They didn't follow her design and did a horrible job on the finish work. I was so upset I called Santa and she came to our house after work one night to help us brainstorm was to fix the issues. She even hooked us up with her "fixer" who is correcting the issue. I would use Santa again and I've already recommended her to co-workers who are looking at doing a kitchen.

Recent Review: We can't say enough good about our experience with Keith and Jimmy. They were a pleasure to work with -- very pleasant. They took great care with each project and communicated very well so that we were always informed. They always came when they said they would. Each job was done above and beyond expectations. Everything painted looks brand new. I had a very lengthy "to do" list and everything has been completed. My husband has already asked them to come back to install stairs in our garage. If you are looking for handymen, you couldn't do any better than Keith and Jimmy.

Super Service Award Recent Review: They did a great job. The owner Allan is terrific. He has a team that does it, and at the end of the job, we had an issue where a couple of the doors weren't what we expected. Allan came out to inspect it and when we pointed out the problem, he agreed, and he made sure that we were completely satisfied before he left. I thought they were going to do both sides of the cabinets, but they only do the outside of the doors. The inside did not look completely touched up. Their price was a little bit more, and for the price, I would have expected that they would have done the inside as well. It wasn't a bad price, but I had a different expectation for that. They offer a unique service if you don't want to replace all your cabinets. It is a franchise, so they set their price.
