He was very efficient and knowledgeable and was able to fix our problem very quickly. He also took the time to explain to us exactly what was wrong and what may need to be done in the future and gave us some great advice as new pool owners. Recent Review: We had to have our above ground pool liner replaced due to a leak. Contacted Tom less than a month ago to set up an appt. He informed me that he was extremely busy but would do what he could to fit me in. I wasn’t expecting him to be able to be out so quick but reached out a few days ago to say he could do the install today. They showed up when he said they would, and did an awesome job patching the steel wall and replacing the liner. They were very professional, explained what they were doing, and took the time to explain everything we needed to do to get the pool opened up. I would recommend them for any pool install or repair.

Recent Review: We needed a replacement light for our in ground pool and called PRG. The first one they found was more expensive, and they looked some more until they found a more resonable light. Not only did they find us a better priced unit, they got it delivered to us quickly. Since our pool is older, it's not always easy to find parts for the equipment we have, but PRG works with what we have until we can upgrade. They have been opening and closing our pool for 2 years and are great to work with.

Recent Review: Louis from Ranieri Construction evaluated the scope of the project and provided an estimate with phase by phase options depending on what was found during each phase. This included excavating the existing skimmer and pressure testing of the existing lines. Our pool is estimated to be 40 years old. Its construction is somewhat unique with a concrete bottom and fiberglass walls. Louis' careful excavation of the skimmer revealed that the fiberglass wall is fastened to rebar running along the enter outside edge of the pool. This was valuable information as if we had approached this project differently demolition of the concrete deck would likely result in the pool collapsing. Louis is excellent at explaining the details of the work and the options available. He excavated the and replaced the skimmer, cut the concrete deck to create a new trench, replaced the skimmer lines, replumbed the feed and return lines at the pump and filter and laid the new concrete in the trench. I would highly recommend Ranieri Construction.

Recent Review: I moved into my current home in late 2016 and discovered that Southshore Gunite built the pool and spa back in 1986 when they were located in Hanover, MA, so I got in touch with them when I needed help with the pool in the summer of 2017. We discussed a pool cover, which I ordered, and resurfacing the pool, which I didn't order right away. While waiting for the cover, I realized that I had a sizeable leak (300 gal/day) in the underground pool plumbing and arranged for SSG to come find the leak and fix it. After they didn't confirm I called and was told that they just had too many pools to close, and they couldn't fix my leak this year. They did eventually come and close the pool and install the cover. The cover seems to work; see attached photo. This spring (2018) I wanted to avoid the pool-opening rush, so I called SSG to see when would be the best time to open the pool and find the leaks. The kind woman who spoke to me got back later that afternoon, having talked to her boss, to tell me that (1) they had not built my pool (according to the building permit, Southshore Gunite did build the pool, but probably before records were computerized) (2) they only closed my pool because they expected me to resurface my pool (I guess the $6500 cover does not make me a valuable customer), and (3) they would neither open my pool this year nor help find and fix the leaks. So, I'm looking on Angie's list for pool services. I can only conclude that SSG really only wants to build new pools or resurface old ones and that anything else is a distraction. I'm guessing that they service pools they build because the owners expect it after spending several 10's of thousands of dollars. I may resurface my pool this year or next, but it won't be done by SSG.

Recent Review: I had Ferrari pools remove my old pool and put in a new one. The final product is a nice pool, but the service was well below average and the price was high and there were many many add-ons. I had talked to them to get specifics on price and showed my concern about over-runs and that I wanted to understand the full cost. Everything always came in higher than estimated and there were things they didn't mention as additional costs. Examples, they estimated the cost of the electrical work to be $3000-$3500, (in writing) the bill was $4360. When I asked about it and the quote, the only response was and quot;that's the costand quot;.. but you estimated 3000-3500.. and quot;that's the costand quot;.. it was like talking to a brick wall. They forgot to mention that it would cost $4500 for site planning, and quot;well, we couldn't anticipate thatand quot;. They pool is less than 100 feet from wetlands, how could you not? An additional $1500 or so for stones as they were having trouble getting the trucks right up to the site, and quot;that's your costand quot;, $800 for truckloads of water, etc, it went on and on.. As far as service goes, total lack of communication on timing and payments etc. They never once called before to say when they were going to show up or arrive. One day, they just arrived, would disappear then reappear. I never knew if they were coming, what was next and when. I was away on vacation when the pool was actually gunuited.. nice surprise to come home to! The workmen had no respect for my property, they wanted to make it easier to get in and out so they simply took a chainsaw and cut off major branches to trees. That was a huge shock. I was even home and came out to see my trees bald and misshapen. If they needed to do that, they should have asked.. then of course they simply left all the branches in the driveway for me to clean-up. They also hit and broke a fence post and gave me a run around at first, then agreed to repair and then never did. We had some issues hitting ledge, they had mentioned that, and we had to adjust and it cost extra, I was bummed, but understood. I don't hold that one against them. This was the second gunite pool I had installed so I had a benchmark for service. I had used AquaKnot in Weymouth and they are hands down far better. If I had to do it again, I would go with them and not Ferrari. They called and updated regularly, told me when they were coming, what to expect and how long it would take... and then they did it. They also stuck to the budget and didn't have unexpected add-ons. The payment expectations were upfront and transparent. Just a better organization and therefore experience all around.

Recent Review: I would definitely recommend calling Above Ground Pool Builders if you love being ignored, calls not being returned in a timely fashion (or not at all), or you just like leaving voicemails. My wife and I bought a house in the beginning of the Summer and came into owning our first pool, we were unable to inspect it during home inspection since it was still closed from the Winter. It turned out that one of the uprights was leaning outwards a little bit, and we'd rather be safe than sorry so we decided to call around and see if we could get it looked at. Above Ground was one of the first places we called, and one of the only places to call back. I get it, Summer is a busy time for pool people, we didn't need it done right away, but it's just something we want to check off our list. So Above Ground calls me back after about a day or two after my initial voicemail and asks me to send photos of the upright issue via email, which I do right away. Lisa responded via email and said that Dave looked at the photos, and it's a repair that they can handle, but I will need to drain the pool first. So I give her a call to ask some questions about draining the pool, etc. and then I go ahead and drain the pool over the next week or so, with the understanding that I only have a garden hose to do the draining so it's going to take a bit of time. It takes about a week give or take, and I email Lisa back at that point and tell her it's all set and I'd like them to take a look at it. This is the point where it gets REALLY good. I never hear from Lisa again. I left multiple voicemails after the initial email to her. All the while we have an empty pool. So for over a month while still trying to get Above Ground to come out and take a look like they said they would. I did get in touch with someone who deals with pools, but doesn't service our area, but was very helpful. He told me at this point the liner was toast, and that Above Ground should have never had me drain the pool unless they were coming out right away, because now we would definitely need a new liner. NEW LINERS ARE EXPENSIVE. Above Ground Pool Builders has the worst customer service of any company I've dealt with other than my cable company. If you can't provide the service, DON'T TELL SOMEONE TO DRAIN THEIR POOL COMPLETELY RUINING THE LINER IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO RESPOND TO ANY MORE PHONE CALLS OR EMAILS. We ended up finding someone else who services our area, came out right away, and will be getting all of our business in the future. It ended up being a pretty substantial repair we needed, so they ended up making out as well as we did for now having a functioning pool. They also had to replace our liner, which they were shocked that they had to do as well. Our liner was in great shape prior to the pool draining. For their sake I hope they had a family emergency, and they just couldn't physically respond at all, even to let us know that we would have screwed ourselves and ruined our liner because they couldn't come out anymore. Because otherwise this is inexcusable for a service oriented company. I would never recommend that anyone ever contacts this company if they value their time or money. Ever. Not even for supplies, nothing.

Recent Review: We had not owned a pool in many years and never an in ground pool so I decided to have it closed professionally. I located several companies on Angie's List and Holmes had good reviews and the date that worked best for our needs to close the pool. In New England winter can show up any time after September 1 so time was of the essence. I set up the appointment 3 weeks ago. I received a call last night with a more definite time frame of between 2 and 4 pm. They were here at exactly 2 pm. Took a little over an hour to close the pool service the filter for winter and explain to me what was done and the minor issues noticed that may need to be double checked come spring. I knew the base price and the possibility of higher rates from my call. They added all needed chemicals and fixed a few minor issues on the filter to ensure the winter wouldn't damage it. I will use them in the spring to come and open the pool and at that time teach us how to open it and maintain it going forward. I am very happy with the service and the knowledge shared with me and I look forward to using them to close my pool each year in the future.

Recent Review: Rob was a few minutes late and was extremely apologetic. He described exactly what he was doing and found leaks in the liner of the pool, which i did not suspect. He then tested all of the pool lines and found a minor problem with one of the lines. Rob was extremely helpful in offering to patch the holes and then when I declined telling me how i can patch them myself. He also described the process of fixing the return line that was leaking as well. I would recommend Rob to anyone who needed a leak found.
