Handled the soft wood with no gauging. Had no problem when I asked for a topcoat of semi-gloss (instead of the high-gloss, wet-looking finish most refinishers seem to prefer). Other refinishers I talked to weren't interested in a job this small. Pleasant and punctual.

Mark's Master Service
Mark and his crew re-finished a pre-existing 2500 square feet hardwood floor. The job was a challenge because it first required the removal of the existing finish, which was factory pre-finsihed with a varnish high in metal content. At our request Mark finished the floor with an environmentally friendly water based finish. The floor looked beautiful after two coats, but Mark elected to add a third coat. Although this was not part of the quote, Mark added the extra coat at no additional charge. Mark and his crew worked independently, began and finished on time and left the site completely clean.

Phil's Floor Services sanded, stained, and refinished the oak floors in 6 rooms in our house, plus a hallway and staircase. We are extremely happy with the price, the quality, and Phil's willingness to fit us into his schedule. Phil refinished our floors on short notice (we had just a few days between closing on the house and our move-in date), and gave us a great price. The floors look absolutely beautiful, and I couldn't find any noticeable dust in the house after they finished. His crew was very clean, very prompt, very professional. Emilio couldn't have been nicer to work with, and his crew did a great job refinishing our oak hardwood floors. Emilio was punctual when arriving to provide a quote, and after a few quick measurements provided a quote on the spot. His quote was right in line with a couple others we received. His crew arrived on time and did a great job over the 2 days - the floors looked great. Our only small disappointment was that his crew asked us what type of finish we wanted, but didn't really explain the differences. Without more information, my husband answered that he'd like the same as what we had on the 2nd floor of the house (only the 1st floor was being refinished prior to moving in), but it ended up being very different from the finished floors upstairs. Although different, the 1st floor still looked beautiful in a more natural way than the shine of the upstairs. We highly recommend Emilio and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

Some of the floors were so scratched and discolored that I was doubtful they could be made to look nice again. I was wrong. Emilio and his team restored 1,600 sq feet of original hardwood flooring in a way that makes it look newly installed. Emilio was terrific to deal with from start to finish and is an excellent communicator. Price was best of the three quotes and I could not be happier with the finished product. Terrific company.

We had our two bedroom hardwood floors and hallway finished very recently by Cliff of Superior Hardwood Floors. One of the rooms was carpeted for close to 30 years. We tore up the old carpet and tack strips and what we saw underneath was a heavily stained hardwood floor that I thought would never clean up. We were pleasantly surprised that the floor finished up better than I could have ever hoped. Cliff did an excellent job and even finished our hallway for the same price even though it wasn’t included in the original quote. I had previously requested an additional quote from another company and was shocked to see the price comparison. Cliff’s quote was less than half of the other guys. I can’t say enough good things about this company, the work was done on time and the floors finished up beautifully.

Very professional, but quality not as advertised. Some gaps in the finish; small curly hairs left in the finish and sawdust left in between the floor boards in places. Would have preferred to pay less for this quality, or pay more for the quality we were after.

Ron refinished the hardwood in my kitchen, tore up a rug in what would normally be used as a formal dining room (we used it as an office) and installed new hardwood flooring. Super Service Award Recent Review: We live in a home that is 120 years old. Needless to say the floors were not in great shape, plus they had been sanded and finished so many times there wasn't much to work with. Tao Zen did a great job of sanding just enough to get rid of the scratches and scrape marks, but not too much that it exposed nails or seams. And: a very competitive price. Our next project will be the basement, and we are going to use them again for that.

Recent Review: We are so happy with the work that Sebastian did at our house. Not only was the work fantastic, Sebastian was amazing to deal with. Everytime I texted him with a question, he always replied within the hour (usually much quicker than that). He also often updated me with the progress by sending photos since we were not living at the house while he was doing the work. The main work that Golden Hammer did for us was in the kitchen where they installed a vent, a new stove, tiled a new backsplash, and installed a new granite counter. They also did a lot of other things around the house, including painting each room, refinishing the wood floors, putting in concrete stair by the backdoor, some carpentry, and installed a new washer & dryer. Everything they did was fantastic. Sebastian, his crew, and the subcontractors that he works with were all highly skilled and very nice to work with. I highly recommend Sebastian and Golden Hammer. I will definitely hire them again for my next project.

Recent Review: Original estimate was for refinishing only, however extensive damage was discovered when carpet was removed. In the refinished portion, there was a lot of old glue, etc. that also needed be sanded down prior to refinish. Provider was able to match color of oak on the remainder of the house, finished on time, and the floors appear to have a more durable quality (after 6 months of use) than other providers we have used in the past. Dust was kept to a minimum and service was professional. We would definitely use again.
