Boston Fireplace Installation

During the install, Lunkers discovered a problem with the construction of the chimney, preventing a clean install of the new liner. Nuno paused the work and presented a fix to the inspector, who approved it and the install was finished a few days later. We were still able to take advantage of the rebate offered by the state due to Nuno's prompt work in getting the fix approved with the state inspector and quickly getting the install completed in time. Lunkers has worked with us regarding the chimney crown as well. They installed a cap to tide us over the winter until the weather is warm enough to do a good job of rebuilding the last 3-4 courses of brick to repair the chimney so a new crown could be done right. They have worked with us all the way to help solve our problems.

Planning started in the spring and the work began in early July, with demolition and structural work to remove several walls on the first floor. My family and I remained in the house on the upper 2 floors until mid August, and the workers were very conscientious to minimize the noise and discomfort. After we moved out, the kitchen on the second floor was removed and a big, beautiful, new kitchen installed on the first. Closets were added to 2 rooms on the second floor; (redundant) stairs removed and a new floor install on the third floor; new windows were added (some as replacements); french doors were added to the back of the house; floors were refinished throughout; the HVAC was reconfigured to improve function and efficiency; the hot water heater was replaced; and a fireplace was installed on the first floor (my favorite new feature!). My family and I moved back in in mid-September, with only some painting and finish carpentry to complete inside. The work then moved to the exterior; a small deck was added to the back, and the front porch was restored with turned balusters with a small deck above. They're now finishing work to repair and replace shingles and window trim, and then paint the exterior.

Prices were fair. He did what he said he was going to do and was punctual. I paid what we agreed on and the installation was good. He will be installing my wood stove chimney.

They arrived on time. Installed the stove, which included moving it from the garage into the house and room, which was no easy task since the stove is so big. The stove is not brand they normally deal/install but they installed it anyway, and also warrantied the install. I purchased the stove before I looked for an installer. All the proper permits and inspections were obtained, completed and approved. Great job!

Jake is the best. We had him install gas lines for a new gas fireplace insert, install new toilets, re-configure exterior plumbing. Arrives when he says he will, timely completes the work, and is reasonably priced.

I received a message in response to my quote request sent late on a day, and a phone call the following morning. A service visit was arranged for that day, as one of their servicemen happened to be in my area. He arrived as notified, and proceeded to put the damper back on (- no new replacement needed. So, no charge), and to install a brand-new chimney cap. All work was completed, and it was not even 24 hours past after I had sent out a quote request. Saying it was very speedy is an understatement.

The store was visited several time, first in December, when it was very busy. I listened to the people ahead of me, asking the same questions I was going to ask and knew there was information needed ( measurements of my fireplace). When I returned the second time, I was able to select the units in the store, and schedule the install. They did an amazing job, and when I inspected the room after the install, no problems. I was told the chimney was in great shape, and the install had no issues. Recently I needed to replace the firebricks lining the inside of the stove ( the only service besides cleaning out the ash and pipes). I called, placed the order and replaced these bricks myself.

I just moved up from Florida into my childhood home. I knew the fireplaces were original (1957) and probably had not had any work done on them for years. Hearing all kinds of stories about fireplace fires in the home I knew I had better get them checked out as I knew we would definitely use them. I called co. and Brad came out and checked them out. The upstairs fireplace was okay to use but the fireplace downstairs needed work. Brad suggested a wood or pellet stove as it would throw out more heat than the original setup. I decided to go with a wood stove after speaking with Derek. He quoted me a price for the whole job. He explained to me that he would have to order the stove and it would take about a month to come in. I gave him a deposit and he scheduled the work for a month later. He was true to his word. They called me the day before to let me know they would be at my house the next day. Both Derek and Brad came out and they went to work setting everything up. Completed the job in one day! Everything was cleaned up afterwards. They were great! The stove and new cap on chimney looks great! I have already scheduled for my fireplace cleaning in June 2014. I definitely recommend them!

Derek was on time, took off his boots and placed drop-cloths by fireplace. He meticulously took off the glass, dismantled the whole system and made the 20 year plus gas fireplace look new! He replaced the pilot light which was no surprise to us. He also recommended a remote controlled thermostat which we needed. This is our primary heat source in the winter and the room would become too hot so it was a constant battle of opening a door and the room got too cold or having to add and then remove layers of clothes multiple times. I cannot rave enough about this company.

This was a multi-step fireplace installation. Vicki from their home office did the scheduling, and Scott took care of the natural gas connection. Both people were *incredibly* nice to work with. Three visits were required. 1) Removal of the gas line to the old fireplace. Scott removed the old connection and even fixed a leaky sewage connection at the same time for a very reasonable price. Done perfectly and quickly the first time. 2) Installation of the new gas line. This required tricky pipe navigation through two adjacent dead air spaces. Scott took the time to understand the problem, and talked patiently with the fireplace vendor on the phone to discuss options. This was not an inexpensive trip, but proportional to the difficulty, as it took more than a few hours to complete. 3) Later, during the fireplace installation, the installer discovered that the gas outlet position was interfering with the fireplace. I called Vicki again, and Scott returned within two hours to adjust the gas line. Everything then fit perfectly. Vicki was clear about availability and scheduling. Two out of the three times, Scott had finished his previous job early and she called to see if he could arrive early (which was fine). Scott was easy-going, yet methodical about his work - he would listen carefully, calculate a bit and arrive at a cost, then complete it exactly as he had described. Exceeded my expectations - I will be using them for all of my future plumbing needs.

I wish every service provider was as good as these guys! Quick call back and came out to service fast. Fixed, cleaned and installed a new remote on our aging fireplace. They explained to me all I need to know about the fireplace that was new to me and got it working great. I plan on using them for general maintenance, any issues that may come up and installation of a new unit if needed.

Overall, it went very well. They were thorough and the whole installation took a few visits to complete. There was an initial visit to make sure everything was going to install properly, which is was. It was an expensive project, but we are very happy with service.

I was installing a gas fireplace insert and called for help simply installing the new chimney cap and 3" diameter flexible flue liner. Bill Newman insisted that $1,700 was their minimum labor to come out to the house. He also wanted to charge $3,000 for the materials for a stainless steel liner that was the wrong diameter (6"). Granted that stainless steel is sturdier than aluminum, but I paid only $75 for the aluminum liners. He also repeatedly said they would not be available until 3 months from now. I conclude that either this is their busy season and therefore they'll take as much money as they can demand, or that they were annoyed that I had bought the insert from a retail store. They were polite, but I question the professionalism of inflated quotes. They did return my initial call promptly, although they had messed up the paperwork and called me back for a chimney cleaning, not a chimney cap installation.

Excellent service. Installation was flawless. Also we had another fireplace unit in another room that was inoperable. When John did our installation of the new fireplace he checked out our broken fireplace. He diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot. These guys are the BEST!

Excellent, they were on time and very professional and friendly. They installed a new stainless steel liner after showing us the cracked clay flue and clearly explaining why we should have a liner installed and the benefits, install process, timeframe, etc. They also performed some work in the fireplace to seal it, as the wood mantle was actually visible from within the fireplace due to poor initial construction. They also performed some minor repointing of the interior fireplace brickwork.
