Alan and Jane were very professional and helpful in finding the right products and what worked for us.They were very meticulous and detail-oriented. Even with a few snags, they fixed any problems that surfaced thoroughly without any additional cost.

Alcantara Contractor
5.0
Excellent job!! From start to finish!! Carlos was one of three quotes I received and quickly called me to check in on the quote. He worked with me on costs. Carlos and his team came quickly to my condo (that I rent out) to assess and repair damages after it got flooded. Parts of walls needed replacement, insulation needed to be checked and fixed, baseboards, floor needed to be pulled up and replaced, cabinets (including the sink and stove and fridge) and granite counters needed to be pulled out from wall to check for water damage behind walls, and then put back, walls needed to be painted. The team worked quickly and professionally, and was always polite and courteous. They were understanding that the condo was a rental and I was losing income while it was not livable, and they worked quickly to make all the needed repairs. I had the chance to hire Carlos and his team again when I needed more painting and wall repair done, and they returned quickly once again, did another excellent job, and also worked within my budget. I never experienced damages like this to my property, and didn't know who to turn to. I am so happy to have found Carlos, Alex and the rest of the team! I will definitely have them back next time! Thank you, Alcantara!

D A Baker Construction Co.
5.0
Baker Construction was in our home at the time of the flooding, remodeling one of our bathrooms. They fixed the kitchen plumbing problem immediately and went above and beyond to help us out. After the excellent job they did on our bathroom remodel, we knew we wanted them to repair the kitchen & basement damage. He worked with our insurance adjuster on what needed to be done. In addition to the damage caused by the flooding, we found we had a major plumbing code violation, electrical code violations and shoddy installation of our cabinets. Baker Construction fixed all the problems. They had to build a false wall to accommodate a legal drain, rewire the dishwasher and microwave, install a new tile floor, cabinets, and counter top. They did an excellent job. At every step of the way, they were professional, courteous, and punctual - a pleasure to work with. They kept the work area neat and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. In 10 days, we had a beautiful kitchen. They also repaired the damage to a finished room in our basement, repairing paneling, replacing sheetrock, installing doors, etc. We could not be happier with the results. We would hire him again without question.

STONE DEPOT
1.0
Stone Depot came out and installed a new countertop in my kitchen. Looked ok at first. Few weeks later the stone cracked at the sink. They sent a repair person out to fix it. The repair person told me off the record that they should warranty the stone. Long story short I have an ugly cracked counter top that will have to be replaced. Stone Depot was no help. Spend the extra money and get a quality product that will last.

Farina Remodeling And Handyman Services
5.0
We went with John because his price was reasonable and he was well-reviewed on Angie's List. We were very pleased with the whole process and the results. He was completely accurate on his estimated costs and timing, and he was very conscientious throughout the whole process. We have two small kids and lived through the renovation without much stress -- John was able to work around us and kept everything clean and livable throughout the project. We were only without a usable kitchen for about three days. The kitchen remodel took longer than that, of course, but John made sure we could continue using as much of the kitchen as possible the whole time. All the work, including the work in the other rooms and the exterior work, was done efficiently and professionally.

ONYX MARBLE & GRANITE

Onyx was very professional, responsive, and on time. I would use them again in the future and would recommend them to others. It was hard to find a company that was willing to do this type of repair so I appreciate their responsiveness.

OG Marble & Granite
5.0
The renovation done on my kitchen countertop really brought the room together. OG marble and granite charges a reasonable price for their outstanding work and I would definetly call them again for another job. The workers were proffessional and were able to finish my kitchen in a convenient amount of time. The company is recommendable to anyone who wants to add a classy touch to their home

HOMEPROS Construction & Remodeling
2.0
To complete the job Homepros subcontracted another company to remove the granite counters so that they could work on the cabinets. That company successfully removed the counters and then Homepros repaired the cabinets. However, they decided to reinstall the granite themselves, rather than using the subcontractor that I had paid for. In the process, they broke granite - the two homepro workers advised me that they had never handled granite before. The owner repeatedly told me that it was always a possibility that the granite could break, however that is why we hired the experienced granite subcontractor, to mitigate that chance. Afterwards, the owner of Homepros refused to work with me on splitting the cost to replace the broken granite and stopped returning my calls. I ended up purchasing new granite for the entire kitchen and hiring another company to install the backsplash tile and complete the job. Very unprofessional and a disappointing end to our business transaction.

Brusa Home Improvement
5.0
Chris was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping us define the scope of our minor to more major repairs and projects. We didn't want to spend a lot, and he helped us understand how our money would be best spent. He and his team not only did good work and were very diligent and neat, they also were very pleasant and polite. We are very happy with all the work he did to get our house show ready. Our realtor was really impressed with what we had done in such a short time. We couldn't have done it without Chris. He had to squeeze a few odds and ends in beyond the originally scheduled project days, and he managed to do so despite his busy schedule. We are very thankful. Because he is so busy, getting in touch can be a bit difficult, but I think they provide a great value and services. We definitely will hire him again when we need something done in our new home! Highly recommended!

Bauman Remodeling

Mike Bauman Remodeling is top-shelf. Mike and his crew came into my condo and did some repairs and improvements that I wanted to have done because I am putting the condo on the market. I can't say enough good things. Mike cares tremendously about his work and he, and his crew, put the time into the work to make it perfect. If you want someone who cares about your home, and making it look great, hire Mike and his crew. You can't go wrong.

OG Marble & Granite
5.0
I called several companies who specialized in granite and quartz countertop repairs. Many of them wouldn't even consider the repair as I had not purchased the countertop from them or their supplier. Others were not able to schedule a repair team until several days later. OG Marble and Granite were very courteous over the phone and asked for pictures of the sink. The got back to me within the day to inform me that they could manage the repair and to schedule their team the very next day. The repair team were courteous, professional, speedy and surprisingly quiet. They completed the job within an hour without much mess. I appreciated that they left their tools outside and only brought in what they needed. I would definitely recommend them and use them again. Thank you.

SOLID SURFACE REPAIR/STUART PARZYCK INC
5.0
We had a crack in our Corian sink. I consulted with Stuart over the phone, he asked detailed questions and then informed me that the right option was to replace the sink, but it had been discontinued. He could try to repair the crack, but that it might not last. I opted for the repair after checking to verify that the sink was no longer made. Stuart showed up the next day and did a nearly invisible repair on on a 17 year old sink. Upon seeing the level of damage, he felt more confident that the repair would last. He completed the work in 1 3/4 hours and was very efficient. The only issue I had after the fact, was that he did not completely clean up after his work. I would definitely call him again for any Corian repair work.

Mass Granite & Marble
5.0
The countertops are beautiful and the price was absolutely right. They were on time, etc. I only have a couple complaints that were rectified in the end. When they were removing the stove they broke the pipe attaching the stove to the gas. I would not have known except that, of course, my stove stopped working. I brought in another company to fix the stove but one of the guys from Mass Granite ended up fixing the stove. There were also a couple of details issues that also got resolved, but I had to stay on top of it. One of the pieces was cut at the wrong height and the guy asked me if that was ok that there was going to be a gap between the backsplash and rail and I asked if it had to be that way or if they could recut and he said that yes, they could recut, which they did. They also left a hole where there was a piece of wood and a beam, so I had to ask them to fix that, too, and they did. I'm sure they were really busy because the Angie's List Big Deal was quite a popular thing and they were probably running from job to job (I'm sure this is true because Domino's dropped a pizza off for them while they were working at our house. I don't think they had any time in between). Even though they broke the stove (and fixed it) and would have left me with some janky holes (which they fixed when I asked them to) the support staff in the office was super nice (I was worried they would not want to pay for a new stove and they took responsibility immediately and fixed it and would have paid to fix it). They did not complain about having to fix a few things. And really we could not have beaten the price. And the counters look truly beautiful. I would just suggest being onsite and eyeballing and if you feel like they miss something definitely bring it up, especially if they are super busy. Common sense, I guess.

Recent Review: We selected B&B Affordable Renovations to renovate our unfinished basement, master bathroom and create a laundry room on our 2nd floor. We contacted him after reading several positive reviews on Angie’s List. When we met, he was very genuine and polite. You could tell that he cared about trying to give us what we wanted while respecting a budget. He also invited us over to take a look at some houses he was in the middle of working on. The renovations turned out great. Any time something came up that had to be addressed or fixed, Bill was responsive and got his guys over as soon as possible to take care of it. Vinny and Paul, who work directly for Bill, went ABOVE and BEYOND what they were expected to do. They were a pleasure to have in the house. I never felt uncomfortable or annoyed while they were working at the house. They were very polite and took care to clean up well behind themselves. We were very happy with the finished results and anytime we have a question or concern Bill has gotten back to us.

Recent Review: Interior painting: Tom Curren Companies has painted many rooms in our house at various times over the past few years. Tom has always been helpful in planning the job and recommending color choices. The painters have all been neat and professional, and never leave a mess. We have been very happy with their service. Kitchen remodeling: Tom Curren Companies remodeled our kitchen in approximately 2008. They replaced the cabinets and appliances, installed granite counters, and installed a ceramic tile backsplash. Tom worked with me to choose the granite, the tile and the cabinets. The job was done very professionally, on time and on budget. It turned out just the way we wanted. Bathroom remodeling: Tom Curren Companies has remodeled two bathrooms in our house -- the master bath and a second bath. In the master bath, they installed a marble floor and counters, a new glass shower enclosure with rain shower fixture, and glass tile in the shower and as a backsplash. In the second bath, they removed the tub and installed a tile shower, a new tile floor and new vanity. All of the work was done very professionally, on time and on budget. We have been very happy with the results. Handyman: We have hired Tom Curren Companies on many occasions to do handyman work, including inspecting and replacing siding on the house exterior, inspecting and replacing decking on our deck and screened-in porch, and fixing things in the house. We have been very happy with their work.

Recent Review: They helped me with the following taking away the burden from my side to be involved in this - Chose a suitable vanity sink with the size constraints - Choose suitable tiles (which apparently are in fashion now based on my colleagues) Tom seemed pretty observant and thorough in their task right from the start - Tom made good measurements and suggested what would be a best fit - Tom observed that the tiles behind the flush had been removed, the slope in the floor etc. - Tom did a good job of fixing up / replacing portions of the bathroom floor which was not in good condition They were pretty clean on the task & cleaning up at the end of the day etc. *** Overall I felt they did a very good job and was happy with the end result. *** I would have given them a A* if they replaced tiles behind the flush (an artifact of the old state) :-)

Recent Review: Bob Batchelder is an amazing contractor. I can't imagine a better choice for a homeowner looking to get the most value for their investment. At first glance he's not the cheapest, but when we compared his proposal to those from other respected builders, we found that he had included contingency amounts (fully refundable if not needed) for plumbing and electrical problems he anticipated in bringing our 90 year old home up to code. His proposal also assumed quality materials and methods appropriate to our home and market, where others had cut corners. He won't try to up-sell you with trivial enhancements, but he insists on quality and is not willing to produce a sub-standard result. During the course of our project Bob proposed cost effective ways to fix other problems and make other improvements. He wasn't pushing to increase the project scope, but hate's to ignore problems that can be fixed more cheaply during construction than later. For example, after tearing out the ceiling of our downstairs bathroom he noticed that the slope of the now exposed upstairs bathtub drain was too shallow by several degrees and would not drain properly. We confirmed that it had been a problem for years. He saw the problem, his plumber fixed it easily, and our monthly draino budget has gone to zero. We have numerous similar examples of things he fixed or improved because he is experienced, alert, and cares about quality. Scheduling: Through the worst winter Boston has seen Bob kept our project on track. The success was in part because he's an experienced planner, realistic, honest with himself and his customers, and driven to deliver. If he says he can do it, he will. His network of experienced tradesmen is another success factor for him. They want to work with him. They know he expects quality work, and they appreciate the opportunity to do things right. They call him "Quality Bob"! They know he meets his schedule commitments and expects them to do the same. They show up on time and do excellent work. Bottom Line: Bob is a great craftsman and problem solver, and he's a fun to work with. My wife and I are always happy to see him. How many people can say that about their contractor? But in the end for Bob it's about delivering value. Everyone who's seen our remodeled home is blown away by the result. Everything is square, everything lines up, there are no squeaks or mistakes we have to look at and try to forget. If we sold today I'm convinced we'd get back every penny we've invested and then some, but the house is so nice now we have trouble thinking that way. By the way, with respect to those contingency amounts in the proposal, Bob was a little high on plumbing and a little low on electrical. It was a wash. The other contractors would have presented these as unanticipated expenses necessary to meet current building codes. With Bob there were no surprises.

Business Description: A true handyman service, intentionally not pursuing contractor type tasks to focus on the under served "small task" market that every home has, but most services don't want or are not properly equipped to handle with the kind of competence, quality and professionalism that we do. Staying true to small jobs keeps our availability much higher. You will not find such a comprehensive package to arrive in an impressively large van stocked with all things necessary to address such a wide variety of tasks with such care and competence. If you've had trouble finding someone to hang your pictures, change a hard to reach light bulb, get your slider to you know ...slide. We're the call you need to make. Currently our hourly rate is $ for two skilled professionals. We typically suggest to resign to whatever your budget will allow, preferably 4 or 8 hour time frames and call with your prioritized list of tasks. Prioritizing ensures you are making the most of our visit with the things that will best enhance your life. Once the time is up, the remainder will defer to the next visit when finances will again allow, again to address the most important items to you first. By repeating this you will have your every day life looking and functioning the way it should, no more cabinet door that you have to open that certain way so it won't fall off, or what have you. We do charge for time in acquisitioning the necessary supplies, typically one hours time and will take away all waste produced every time for a nominal fee if desired. Handyman in the truest sense. In the past we've installed bat houses, repaired decks, righted sheds & concrete stairs, re-screened/repair patio doors & wheels, fixed cabinet doors, repaired exterior rot (selectively) with new trim or rot specific hardeners. Hung pictures and paintings, assembled diy furniture and yard playsets. Cleaned gutters, pressure washed for miles, install/repair storm drs. Really the variety is boundless with the only exception being jobs that require bldg. permits.

Recent Review: Things went very well. The first thing to note is that apparently Todd is skilled in all aspects of home repair and can fix just about anything and everything. And, when he runs into problems, he tends to them rather than just covering them up. For example, in the bathroom he replaced a rotten pipe while installing the sink and when one of the doors didn't hang flush, he returned them and brought back a new one! The countertop he made was cut perfectly. It matched the corner cabinets better than I could have hoped. The other thing I liked about Todd is that he managed to balance attention to detail with the big picture in a simple, straight forward way and focused on the end goal. Some of the painters I brought in were talking to me about the color of the paint on my other walls, prospects for lead paint on the doors, my expectations from my painter. Todd just got it done. He was very forth coming about the budget, especially when I kept adding things in. Very easy to work with!

He was well educated and knew a lot of information, and knew what he was doing. His work was very good. He did come back when I asked him to because I wasn’t happy with something, and that was very good of him. There was something wrong with the vanity and he told me he wouldn’t charge me for something, and then he did charge me for it because it was a hassle to go to the store. That didn’t sit well with me. Overall he was decent. I would use him in the future for certain things.

What do customers in Boston say about Countertop Repair?

It took them a long time to come back to repair what they had done. I thought that the actual cabinets were fine but the workmanship wasn't. I had a problem with the Lazy Susan, so I told them. They said they fixed it, but it was total incompetence so I ended up fixing it myself.
