Boston Boiler Installation

The technician was very up front on the boilers condition and was excellent in terms of our safety with a boiler that needs replacing.

I called for an estimate on an oil to gas boiler conversion and found out that they do not work on steam boiler systems.

We have an older boiler and he came to service it. He said the boiler on its way out and it ended up quitting on us a few days later. The technician was nice and arrived on time. He may have not been the most knowledgeable since it was such an old boiler.

About a week ago, I had a heat emergency. At first, I didn’t know what to do. I reached out to contractors on Angi (among other places). All of them were super busy. Luckily, I mostly figured out how to resolve my heating emergency myself. However, I still needed maintenance. Ryan from pro comfort control reached out to say that had some unexpected space in his schedule. We discussed options for what I might need or want. I chose 2/3 of the options. He said he’d call me the next day. I said I was flexible since I work from home. Next morning he texts and says how about now? 45 minutes later he and his colleague arrive (with all COVID boosters and masks), and we discover that some work (boiler skimming) can’t be performed w/o an extra valve which would cost a slight bit more (I completely understood). ~2 hours later, the work was completed. He explained everything before and afterwords in great detail. He said that although my boiler was ~20 years old, it should last for another 10-15 years as long as I performed regular maintenance and cleaning (skimming). He said I should consider heat pumps and a/c splits, and that with an inspection from mass save it would be cheap and last a long time. I look forward to having him come back!

The new Boiler came in two working days, the removal of the old and installation of the new boiler, plumbing and wiring immediately took placed. Glad to be a customer of Kervian Lane.

He came within the allotted time and worked on the boiler for about an hour and then gave me a report on the boilers condition. The service man was very courteous and pleasant.

Our aging boiler started the heating season in functional shape, but quickly developed trouble (it needed daily refilling). I called Executive Plumbing, they sent Rich (a "steam guy") and a couple apprentices. They quickly diagnosed a leak in the boiler, then measured the radiators for a new boiler. They answered my questions thoroughly and promptly, and once I accepted their estimate they set up an appointment for the following week. They arrived on-time and had the new boiler up + running that day. I'm no expert, but I know enough about steam heat to know that Rich and his team know what they're doing. They had the right answers for sizing the new boiler, changing the near-boiler piping, using cast-iron pipe instead of copper, choosing a boiler model, etc. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, patient, and punctual. I'm very impressed.

The Sila company sent John Gulstrom. John is very professional, customer service oriented and knowledgeable about Weil-McClain gas boilers. He answered my questions simply, yet completely. Multiple diagnostics were run and John showed me what he was doing and why. My boiler has 230k btu capability, which is too much for my house which is 1550 sq. ft. The pipes were only designed to use 120 btus. I need a new boiler and I understand why. When I purchase the boiler and have it installed, I will be using Sila.

From the start the Project Manager, Dale, was very responsive and took time to explain any questions I had. Two day install went smoothly except for a syncing issue with the nest thermostat. Bobby’s install team actually finished on day 1 but Sila sends a foreman and independent technician to check and make sure everything was installed and is working properly. Thermostat issue was a bit more tricky than expected but the entire team communicated smoothly with each other and the technicians, Brian and Kyle, made sure everything got resolved before leaving.

Joe, the AirCo sales representative, was very professional. He actually asked for my feedback on priorities for a new boiler. This was important to me because the boiler sits below our family room, and the noise level of the boiler was as issue. His proposals listed several boiler options, based on heating efficiency, which were competitively priced. The installation was run by Steve, who was able to fit in the installation the next week. Steve, and his crews, were punctual and courteous, and the installation went smoothly. It's only been a week, but I am very pleased with my Bosch boiler, the quality of the work, the price paid, and the timeliness of the installation.

From start to finish, we had a VERY positive experience with this company. Most notable was that when they came to look at the job and give me an estimate (no charge), they noted extensive corrosion on a large pipe leading into our steam boiler, and said they would TRY and fix it, but if there was corrosion also on the inside pipes, we would need a new boiler. (Other companies that looked at the job said the boiler was "beyond repair", they were unwilling to open up the boiler and look further into where the problem was coming from, and they then gave me prices for a new boilder.) Baker-Elman's more careful approach resulted in us saving over $8000 on a new boiler!! I also learned that this type of steam boiler often "lasts a lifetime" and so it was definitely worth doing the diagnostic procedure to see if it could be repaired. (the repair cost only $400.) Extremely courteous, well-informed, helpful. We have cancelled our expensive maintenance policy that we have maintained for years with a utility company, and will in the future use Baker-Elman for all maintenance and repair issues involving gas boiler and hot water heater as well as other household plumbing issues.

Last summer they installed a new boiler and hot water tank for me. Everything was perfect. They were knowledgeable and even told me about rebates. I got a huge rebate back from Massachusetts for replacing my old boiler. The boiler cost about $7,900.

This was a fantastic experience. Not only did we get the estimate, we got a complete education on boilers, including the pros and cons of replacing them. This was not a slick sales job. Instead, the Baker-Elman rep laid out all the alternatives, including one in which we *don't* have to replace the boiler. I very much appreciated his honesty, practicality, and knowledge. He did a fantastic job teaching us about boilers and what's involved in a replacement. If we do replace the boiler, we will definitely use Baker-Elman. And if we don't replace the boiler, we'll still use Baker-Elman for all our plumbing needs.

We purchased our first home over the summer but when winter came around, the boiler did not work properly. Advanced Energy came out to look at our boiler the next day. The technician cleaned the boiler, which hadn't been done in years, and replaced the thermocouple. He did not have the correct thermocouple, so he had to go to a supply store to get the correct one, but did not charge for the time. When I told him that I didn't know much about boilers, he took the time to show me how to maintain and check the boiler. I was very happy with the service.

Lovett Plumbing replaced our boiler and did an outstanding job. Our boiler suddenly failed the day before the temperature dropped to freezing and we were in a pinch to get a new boiler. Charlie Lovett and his team were amazing. Charlie came over immediately, assessed the situation and got a plan in place to get us a new boiler. They were efficient and professional. Highly recommend this Plumber!
