Case Design/Remodeling
4.0
Everyone associated with this contractor was very professional; they secured all permits and were very flexible and accomodating of my design interests and preferences. The finished product surpassed my expectations. The negatives experiences I had are characteristic of this trade in general, and can be catagorized as communication problems and delays. Miscommunication occured in the ordering of parts, between the project foreman and the tradesmen, and in misunderstanding the general construction demands of the installed equipment. These problems then led to construction and installation delays that stretched a two week project over four months. The lessons I learned from this experience are that I will micromanage and that I will add a project delay clause to reduce the cost by a given percentage for every week delayed in the completion of the job.

Apex Roofing & Restoration
5.0
I interviewed several roofing companies and Apex clearly ranked the top based on professionalism, price, quality, and responsiveness to my particular needs. Representative (Grantt) patiently answered my many questions and actively assisted me selecting just the right color. They got the job done quickly and it looks great. They cleaned up the area nicely. Carpenters who replaced rotten gutters did a very good job as did the painters inside.

B & B Residential Services

I hired B&B Residential services to do two bathroom remodels, a kitchen remodel and to refinish my hardwood floors. The bid was for $20,000.00 for mostly labor (he covered the sheetrock). My Masterbath is beautiful, but, the shower curb was installed with a slight slant outward instead of inward. The Glass installer mentioned this to me before installing the shower, but I wasn't sure of the implications. (I feel that this should have been part of the project management that I paid for). The shower leaked water everytime I took a shower. The original glass company did not agree with Joel Boykin so Joel sent a second glass company out. They installed a small strip at the bottom of the shower but the strip made it so the glass door would only open inward - which created another problem - you couldn't turn the water on without getting into the shower. The strip also revealed a defect in the glass. But because of the second glass company, the original installer would not accept responsibility for that either. I tried to work with Joel from March to August (August is when he stopped responding or return calls). In September I had an attorney send a demand letter, and he ignored that as well. The attorney is recommending Small Claims Court. Now, I am having issues getting a quotes for the repair. It appears that most contractors have more work than they can handle these days. This issue has caused me to put off selling my home pushing me into a housing market that I can barely afford. Joel's neglect in fixing his errors has cost me more than just the cost of repairing a shower leak. Based on input from the two Glass Contractors hired by Joel, the only remedy to fix my leaking shower is to remove the shower glass and replace the shower curb to angle inward vs. outward. Furthermore, the glass is bowed - not flush. The original glass contractor said it should be replaced, but because a second glass company came out that they would not cover it under their warranty. Overall, the work completed was decent, there, was, however, no Project Management – hence, if there had been a project manager/general contractor – the shower curb would have been installed correctly and there would have been a representative present when their subcontractor installed the glass. Joel complained about being over budget on the job so I did not require them to refinish my hardwood floors which was part of the contract. Good start, lousy finish to the project. Like most or all contractors – once they get all of the Money they are not interested in completing or correcting their errors. update - I just removed the damaged trim around the shower. B&B Services trimmed my bathroom with particle board trim vs. wood.

Stan Munkus, Owner of Advantage Painting and Home Recnovation, LLC at 205-531-1264 E-mail: stanmunkus@yahoo.com is the best contractor that I've used for repairs and remodeling at my home. Stan came highly recommended by a friend who had used his company and had recommended Stan to be the best man for the job! Stan is very professional, dependable, cost of service is very fair and was the best of several estimates I had received from other companies. His workers were all professional, timely and courteous and made sure the work area was left clean. I am very pleased with the worked performed by Stan and his company and would highly recommend to anyone, especially if you need Interior or Exterior painting, they are the BEST!! I will be engaging Stan's company this spring for interior and exterior painting for my house. I completely remodeled my kitchen also getting new appliances and granite countertops, I love my new kitchen!!

SouthFace Renovations LLC.

I contacted SouthFace for an estimate on replacing the siding on my home, exterior painting and repair some rotted wood sections. Johnny contacted me and scheduled a time to come and provide an estimate in a timely manner. The estimate was competitive and they were willing to work with my timelines as we were having a pool installed and needed to wait until the pool builder was finished before beginning the siding job. Once I gave SouthFace the notification that I was ready to begin the work they had materials delivered within a couple days and the demo/repair began the following week. I was pleased with the ease of communication with Johnny and his team during the work and we are very happy with the final product. Would highly recommend SouthFace and plan to work with them on future projects.

Bass Tile and Remodeling

I was somewhat dissatisfied as I could not get the guy that laid the tile to come back. A guy we hired to install the door broke a floor tile. We couldn't get the tile man to come back and install it for us. Home Depot did it as it was their man that broke the tile. They got in a hurry with the work.Tthe paint was not great because they you can see a place where it had dripped. Also, they did not wait until the mud dried for the sheetrock. I would not use them again.

Recent Review: This was the 2nd time we have used Don for work on our home. The first time he removed and replaced wallpaper from our up and down stairs halls as well as a difficult staircase. We were so pleased with the results that he was the only one we called when we needed more work done. Don removed the wallpaper in our master bathroom, made repairs to the walls and installed new wallpaper. In our bedroom he removed border from the high parts of the room, patched drywall and painted. (we had already done the parts we could reach). The work was done to our satisfaction as expected. Don takes his time and makes sure everything looks the way it should. If his last job takes a little longer than expected and he reschedules you, remember he will work on your job as long as necessary as well. We barely knew he was in the house.

Recent Review: He has done a number of things for me. I've spent $2000 with him over the time. I spent $600 to $800 the last time. I'm impressed with his promptness, timeliness, quality of work, responsiveness and everything. It was actually Daniel Holland who was doing most of the work. I was very pleased with him. He did some things that somebody else had messed up so I was quite happy.

Recent Review: Mr. Rogers, as I fondly call Jody Rogers, has been a straight talking but unfailingly polite professional through every step of the work he has done for us. We started this process around April of 2014. It took our insurance company about 9 months to sign off on the very extensive work that needed to be done. Mr. Rogers called me frequently and assisted at every turn. He located the perfect company to make the tiles in Ohio and explained the many advantages these shingles would provide. It took a long time for the shingles to come in but when they finally did, Mr. Rogers was there the next day with his crew. He oversaw every aspect of the process and made sure the roof was properly guarded against the rains that slowed things down a bit. The outside work was completed in a timely fashion. We wish to vacate the house for the inside repairs which involve repair of plaster ceilings, sanding (lots of dust) and painting. We have been solely responsible for the current delay primarily for health reasons. Mr. Rogers has been so patient and thorough in the work that he has already done for us that we have decided to have his crew complete other work needed inside the house. We are hoping all of this work can be done this winter and look forward to working with him and his crew again.

Recent Review: Blair Building & Remodeling are the greatest! From the original estimate through the project's completion, they were helpful, courteous, polite, and professional in every way. As with all remodeling projects, we had unexpected problems and difficulties (mostly artificial!) with government inspectors. Throughout, BB&R patiently worked with me to ensure that my project was finished as quickly as possible without compromising one bit of quality. I recommend Blair Building & Remodeling to anyone considering having work done to their home. I'm planning more work within the next 12 months, and I will ask them to do it.
